This home is lovely...well-equipped, well-furnished and very inviting. The owner is gracious, warm and helpful. The location is perfect, too. Burlingame is a beautiful golf community with friendly, helpful staff and is located very near some of the best hikes and waterfalls in the eastern US. We will definitely be returning!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Your gracious and glowing comments about our home are truly appreciated and we are thrilled you found our mountain retreat well-equipped, comfortable and inviting for your recent vacation in our golfing community of Burlingame and surrounding natural amenities , as you mentioned super hiking trails in the Land of Waterfalls. We look forward to your anticipated return to our Sapphire Mountain Retreat Karla B. Harrell

My family and I loved this getaway. First the mountain house is beautiful, well-stocked, amazing view, centrally located and super comfortable. We arrived at dusk and the beauty of the landscape and the golf course will win visitors instantly. The home was better than expected and we felt at home right away. While in Sapphire, we went to Whitewater Falls in the Nantahla National Forrest, we went hiking at the Chimney Rock and canoeing on the French Broad River -- we never do stuff like this but it was so great, the people so nice, the drive so beautiful and the experiences so amazing that we kept adding to our agenda. My 65 year old mom said "we have to figure out how can visit again". Oh one last thing... the Sapphire Mountain Brewing Company is a fantastic restaurant. Sit outside, if weather permits, enjoy the food and the view.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children.

My husband and I stayed at this lovely property in August. The house is beautifully appointed and well-maintained and is located in the heart of a golf-lover's paradise. As avid golfers, our family was able to play the course at Burlinggame along with several other excellent courses within easy driving range. Excellent restaurants are located nearby for the nights we did not want to cook, but the kitchen is well stocked for those who enjoy cooking, Attention to detail describes this home to a tee-from the luxurious bedding to the lovely china. It would easily accommodate a family or several couples. For those who might enjoy an early spring, fall or winter get-away, there is a gas fireplace with adds to the ambience of the living space. The sunporch and adjoining outdoor deck provide a lovely views of the golf course and is a perfect place to enjoy breakfast or afternoon cocktails. We will definitely be returning to this lovely place and would recommend it highly for the golfer, the nature lover or for anyone who simply wants to get away and relax. Thanks so much giving us an opportunity to share this 'home away'!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

About: Florida-North Carolina Connection
Why Sapphire:
Friends and Family have visited for two decades, when the 'Proprietors' were
FRED AND ZETA. Their five grandchildren of the three daughters had to know the secret password to get to MIMI & PAPA's loft, hideaway.
Those same grand-children who drove the golf carts and churned home made ice cream visited while they attended camps and colleges in the area with their friends.
Mimi carried on the traditions for three years from time Papa passed away until she joined him in 2006. Fast forward to many changes in attitudes and changes in lattitudes and now we want to share the opportunities and blessings our family had
with you and yours. P.S. NO ONE IS SHARING THE SECRET PASSWORD.....
but the sign is still there.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
THE HUNGER GAMES, filmed entirely in the state of North Carolina and particularly in the Pisgah Forest, Brevard & Dupont
Forest areas 20 mountain miles or so, east
of us. We are getting 'insider' information
and collecting 'local' sightings information
to pass on to our guests.
