I just had the privilege of spending the winter months in this delightful cottage. Ed and Mike were great - they even let me work in the garden a bit! The cottage has everything you could possibly need, is super comfortable and was a perfect home for my four months (I wish it had been longer) in Ocean Beach. The location is spot on - close enough to walk to everything, the beach is less than two blocks, yet far enough away to not be in the midst of the busy Newport Avenue business area. Unload your gear, kick back and relax in this delightful community. I LOVED my stay and hope to enjoy my winters there for many years to come!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Judy! We loved having you too. Let me know as soon as possible if you're coming back in '14 PS Mike says hi

The Landlord and his family are exceptional folks who very pleasant people who want to make sure your stay in San Diego is a memorable one. ( I did not need much, but it was clear any questions or anything needed, make sure I ask!) The cottage is new (interior), and the construction inside was performed with a detailed eye and skilled hand. The Kitchen has new cabinets along with granite counter tops and glass mosaic backsplash. One will notice, healthy amount of funds were invested in the cottage. Next, the space. The cottage is very well designed, I found the cottage to be warm, and inviting. Location.....Two blocks fromt he beach! Due to the Landlord, quality of cottage, and location.......I will reserve this cottage yearly! 100% for sure. Thanks Again to Ed and his family for a wonderful stay! Steven.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My wife and I stayed at this adorable cottage and we absolutely loved it. It’s small, but sooo cute. And the living room opens up onto the deck, where we had our morning coffees and bagels or grilled some steaks in the evenings. The best part of course is that it’s only a 5 minute walk to the beach, and it didn’t rain once so we pretty much spent every day sunning ourselves. The cottage was tidy and obviously cleaned by professionals, AND there was no musty smell like so many places with carpets nowadays but this unit is all tile and hardwood flooring. The bed is comfy and firm and the colors and artwork are warm and inviting. The owners are a pair of brothers, Ed and Mike, who were always available when we needed anything. They were just the nicest guys. I’m sure they are reading this, so I want to tell them – THANK YOU for helping to make our stay a terrific one. We will certainly be back again next year.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

THE RULES (don’t worry, there are just a few) Please No smoking inside the cottage. (The deck is a great place to enjoy a smoke). When returning from the beach, please wash off the sand with the hose outside the front door. Please, please, please do not bring sand into the shower as it clogs the plumbing. Please do not put anything in the toilet bowl except for the provided toilet paper. This includes paper towels or feminine hygiene products, which will also clog the plumbing. And finally, the most important rule - have a great time! This is mandatory. RULES FOR PET OWNERS Please hose down your dog and dry him with a towel when returning from the beach. Please do not let your pet jump or lie on the furniture. If the animal is predisposed to do this when you aren’t looking, keep the furniture covered with a protective blanket. Let your dog out in the front yard only, not the back yard. Please clean up after your dog does his or her, um, business. HOUSE AND PROPERTY INFORMATION: There is a fire extinguisher on the bottom shelf of the kitchen closet. The Wifi network is F9346C and the password is 2DV324UV00D1B (all caps). There are TV dinner trays for having meals on the side of the refrigerator. There is a DVD player on the right side of the television. We have provided a small library of movies in the hutch’s lower cabinet. There is a Red Box DVD rental kiosk outside the 7-11 which is a 3-minute walk to the corner of Voltaire and Bacon. In addition to a closet in the bathroom and bedroom, there are four large drawers underneath the bed - two on each side. Garbage pails are in the alley. Just walk past the back units, out the gate, to the left. The Blue pails are for recycling. Trash is picked up on Mondays. If you have any trouble operating the TV, microwave, iPod player, coffee machine, etc., the manuals are stored in the basket on the lower shelf of the coffee table. Or just ask : ) The two night lights (one in the bedroom, one in the living room) are also usable as flashlights, should the power go out. The smoke alarm has a cancel button on the face, should it go off accidentally. If there is anything that we have not provided in the bungalow, it is quite possible I have it in storage, or in my house. Feel free to ask for whatever you need. If we have it, you may use it. INFORMATION ABOUT THE AREA • San Diego travel books/brochures are in the white hutch, to the left of the refrigerator. • Maps and directions for some of the area attractions are contained within this booklet. • Menus of restaurants that deliver and take-out menus of area restaurants are included in this packet. Our address is 5056 Muir Ave. • Directions to the beach: go out your front door, turn right (west) on Muir Ave, and keep walking till your toes get wet. • The nearest Grocery store is Stumps Market. You should probably drive. To get there, go East (away from beach) on Muir Avenue. Take first left on Bacon and first right on Voltaire. Take Voltaire about 1 mile. Stumps is on the left. 3770 Voltaire St. • There is a pizza joint and deli just a few steps from the house, on the corner of Abbott and Muir. (Just walk out your front door, turn right, and it will be on the left on the next corner.) • There are two convenience and/or liquor stores, in close proximity, on the corner of Bacon St. and Voltaire St. (Go left on Bacon, and one block to Voltaire). • Several restaurants, sandwich joints, and bar and grills are right around the corner, on Voltaire St. (Go left out your front door, left on Bacon St, and right on Voltaire St.) • The main drag of Ocean Beach, Newport Avenue, is about a 7-minute walk. (Go right, or west, out your front door, first left on Abbott and walk till Abbott ends, before the pier. Newport Avenue begins there.) • Speaking of Newport Avenue, we have an excellent farmer’s market every Wednesday at 3pm, between Bacon and Cable St. • Don’t forget to take a leisurely walk on the OB Pier or the cliffs and tidepools at the gorgeous Sunset Cliffs (There are several access points to the cliffs that begin at the foot of the OB Pier). CHECKOUT is at 11am. Leave the linens on the bathroom floor. Put the keys back in the lock box. Please make sure everything is locked up. We would love it if you left us a note in the journal.
