Lake City is a lovely 'seaside-like' town on Minnesota's South Shore of Lake Pepin.
The address is: 518 N. Lakeshore Drive, Lake City, MN 55041
This lovely home was completely remodeled in the first half of 2012, but we didn't change the charm and character of such a wonderful Lake City home. The new kitchen, new bathrooms (4 of them), new 'everything' is just what makes this old house so special.
Option #1 - Sleeps 12 (House & Guest House)
The House is 2,000 sq. ft. plus a screened porch, two large decks (one with an over-sized picnic table and the 2nd deck with a fire pit). Both decks offer 'Stunning Views' of Lake Pepin.
The living room has a wonderful bay window and wooden plantation shutters throughout, hardwood floors, leather sofa bed (queen), cozy chairs, built-in electric fireplace, large flat screen 37' TV with cable & wireless internet. The dining room has a built-in bench and a trestle table with seating for 10. The kitchen is fully equipped and has solid granite counter tops. There is a breakfast bar for three (3) in the kitchen with great views. There is a family room off the kitchen with a 2nd TV, gas fireplace/heater and more great views. Off the family room there is a lovely screened porch.
All linens are provided, plus there is a washer & dryer.
The 1st floor bedroom (queen) has an attached bathroom (3/4). Also, on the main level away from all the living space, there is a new over-sized bathroom with a walk-in shower. There is also a third bathroom on the main level which features a pedestal, cast iron bathtub. Upstairs is a large bedroom (king) and a sleeping loft-like room (2 twin beds). There is also a 1/2 bath on the upstairs level.
The separate Guest House (also w/ stunning views of the Lake) sleeps 4 and has a corner built-in daybed (queen) with lots of pillows. In addition, there is a bunk bed (2 twins), a game table which seats 6, and a TV w/cable. It's a great spot for kids to hang out or it provides your group with some extra living space. The Guest House is available from April through October. The 'Guest House' has air conditioning and an electric fireplace/heater.
Option #2 - Sleeps 8
This is the main house only and does not include the guest house. Available year around.
SUMMER RESERVATION POLICY FOR 2013:
For the THREE (3) months of June, July & August we accept reservations for one week or longer (in weekly increments) and Option #1 only - which includes the guest house. We also require a Friday to Friday stay. This policy remains in effect through May 15, 2013, after which time we will accept reservations for two (2) days or more for any remaining time that is not reserved. This policy enables families and large groups time to schedule and coordinate their family reunions and gatherings.
For all other months, we accept reservations for two (2) nights or more for either Option #1 or Option #2.
If your preferred dates are unavailable, please check out our other vacation rental properties on VRBO: #385710 & # 186306.

Not only are the views outstanding, but the overall experience my family and friends had at this vacation property was outstanding. Even the cool wet weather did not interfere with our vacation, as there is so much to do in the Lake City area. A perfect place to take it all in, or just get some R&R. The property owners have thought of EVERYTHING you will need for a comfortable stay. This property is highly recommended for a truly wonderful vacation experience.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for the nice words. Sorry about the weather, but the area is fun and the home is cozy which you obviously discovered.

This was such a wonderful place for us college gal friends to meet! This is a very clean, beautifully decorated, well-appointed house. We felt at home immediately. Even though we had rainy, cool weather, we enjoyed the screened-in porch and of course, loved the view of the lake. We hope to go again next year!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: We're so sorry about the cool, wet weather, but you girls seemed to make the most of your time together. We hope to see you again next year.

Seven of us family members stayed for a two night stay for a sisters and mom getaway and we honestly could not have chosen a more comfy spot! A VERY well-kept, neat, tidy and updated cottage. With all the water-themed decore throughout home, we all kept saying we felt like we were in Cape Cod. Sharon was fabulous to rent from and went the extra mile to ensure we were in comfortable and familiar with our setting. Thanks again, Sharon!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: We're glad you felt like you were in Cape Cod because that's exactly what we were shooting for...

This is the second time we have spent a weekend at Bluffview Cottage. It accomodated 4 of us very comfortably. The house, furnishings and decorations are so nice and we immediately felt "at home." The large windows gave us a wonderful view of the lake, and even though there was a cold rain outside, we were snug and comfortable inside. The walk to "downtown" Lake City took only a few minutes and we enjoyed the shops and had a good lunch at The Bronx. If the weather had been nicer, we would have explored the beach and the marina. We will definitely return for another relaxing weekend at Bluffview Cottage.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.
Owner response: We love it when our guests come back and like their second visit even more than their first. We hope to see you again and again.

When we arrived at the Cottage and walked in, we were breath taken! The place was in excellent condition! It is very 'homey' and you feel as though you could move right in! The owners were Very nice and helpful and worked with our busy schedule! They didn't hover over us with our schedule but made it clear that if we needed ANYTHING that they were just a phone call away! We plan to return this summer on our motorcycles to stay for a weekend since it is so convenient with everything there! All you need to bring are your clothes and you are set! John and Sharon are wonderful business people who are very personal with their guests and makes you feel very welcome!!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: We're so glad the wedding went without a hitch and that you enjoyed your accommodations so much. We also appreciate it that you left the house in such great condition, and hope to see you back later this year.

This rental was absolutely perfect for our mother-daughter retreat weekend. The six of us had plenty of room to be alone or together, in this lovely. warm, immaculate, and very cozy home. The home is beautifully decorated and it felt like "home" immediately. Sharon was a gracious hostess, she met me at the home on Friday and showed me all the ammenities of the house, she informed me about places to go and do in the vicinity. We cooked meals in the beautiful,well-stocked kitchen, there were games to play, movies to watch, and two fire places we thoroughly enjoyed. The huge, old fashioned bath tub was truly a relaxing treat! Over the weekend we all took several walks up town, and along the frozen, yet beautiful Lake Pepin. We shopped at a wonderful antique shop, got our nails done, and ate wonderful pizza in Lake City -even though the weather turned quite chilly, everyone in town was warm and friendly. The scenery was awesome; I imagine that in the warmer months sitting in the screened porch watching the sailboats on the Lake Pepin would be grand! We all thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend, and are hoping we can make it an annual event! I would definitely recommend this home to family and friends - and I do hope we can enjoy time at this lovely home again. Thank you!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Wow, Thanks so much for the lovely review. Maybe we could get you to write/work for the Tourism Bureau or the Chamber of Commerce. We're so glad your stay in Lake City was so pleasant, and we hope you find your way back to Lake City soon.

This groups second time staying in one of your properties and we were not disappointed. Again we were greeted upon arrival to be given 'the tour' and the oohs and aahhs came forth as we went from room to room in this delightful cottage. The pictures do not do justice to the actual setting. We walked the path down by the lake, walked around town and had delightful conversations with the merchants, as we shopped in the wonderful, and sometimes quaint, stores. Saw a sign saying "Welcome to the South Shore" or something like that and we said to each other how nice it was to have a lake, a shore and such wonderful accommodations within an hour or so instead of having to spend a whole day in the car.We do have a South Shore right here in Southern Minnesota. Once we were finished downtown we returned to have cocktails on the deck and enjoy the stunning views.Time for dinner and a cozy evening in front of the wonderful fireplace. By the way, the kitchen has everything you could need. Can't say enough about how well appointed these properties are. Just bring your clothes and 'jammies' and you're good to go. No need for another thing!! We are already talking about returning next year.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind comments, and we're so glad that you and your friends found Minnesota's South Shore to be so enjoyable. The shops and restaurants just keep getting better & better. I'm sure we'll be seeing you again.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: John & Sharon own three vacation rentals in Lake City. They all feature a 'coastal theme' as they believe there is nothing more soothing and more comforting than to be near the water in a cozy, coastal home with lots of space and lots of family & friends.
Why the Owner Chose Lake City:
All three of the 'vacation rentals' are within a few hundred feet of each other. Two properties are back to back and are separated by a cute picket fence but connected by a gate. Occasionally, large groups choose to rent both homes as they can walk from one home to the other in about 30 seconds.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Because this property can sleep up to 12 and offers options; it can be configured to meet your needs. It is very attractive to larger groups who need space and beds. No one has complained about having too many bathrooms (3.5), yet. It's perfect for that family reunion, girl friends getaway or that multiple family gathering.
