This cottage style, well appointed home was the perfect spot for a family trip to visit my son at Hood College. We appreciated having all the amenities, high end linens, comfortable beds, and a location within such easy walking to all the shops and eateries in downtown Frederick and walkable distance to campus. We were grateful for all the little extras in the kitchen that made it easy to eat an impromptu family meal and a big plus was the bottle of "welcome champagne." We will certainly be back again!!

Our stay was better than we expected. The house was as described, but, as usual, we had not put the spaces together in our minds. No matter -- it was excellent. What we really liked was the neighborhood. We enjoyed sitting on the front porch with our drinks, conversing, and waving at people going by. Frederick turned out to be a fine town for a visit. I can't recommend it any more highly.

We stayed at this house for a week and it was great. South Street has become much better than it used to be and the house had everything we needed for a great stay. It was so much more convenient than a hotel and close to downtown which is perfect. Thank you so much for providing everything.

We stayed at the Artist's House for a week and were delighted with the experience. The house is beautifully restored with gorgeous woodwork and local artwork displayed throughout. The owners left groceries and drinks for guests, and charge a reasonable fee, which you pay for on an honor system. The kitchen was well stocked and there are three bathrooms. The bedrooms were lovely and comfortable, each with a sleep number mattress. They backyard is nicely landscaped and there is off-street parking in the back. It was an easy walk to town and there's lots to do in Frederick.

We really enjoyed this house and its amenities as well as its location. The house was beautiful and had character and the art throughout added some additional interest. With three bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms, it provided a wonderful space for our family of four adults, enough to spend apart with personal privacy and enough to spend time together in the form of common meals and movie and games nights and just chats. Also the yard and porch were great areas to enjoy some outdoor time in nature in the middle of a city. The location was amazing, a nice walk to the wonderful vibrant town and all its great shops, museums, galleries and restaurants. The private parking space allowed us to have access to our car to explore the beautiful landscape and the many historic sites of the area. It really allowed for the perfect balance of sightseeing, college tours and family relaxation and will certainly make for a vacation we will remember fondly. I would recommend this house to any family or group of travelers and I would rent this house again any time we are in the area.

A group of 15 of us (family and friends) rented all three of Nancy's properties (Artist's House, Collector's House, and Traveler's House) for the week of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg. Everyone without exception was very pleased with their accommodations, and we loved the location(s), which were convenient for our "commute" to Gettysburg 30 minutes away as well as to beautiful and historic downtown Frederick, which was within easy walking distance. All of the properties were impeccably clean and well-maintained, and well-stocked with basic supplies. Nancy is an enthusiastic and knowledgeable source of information about Frederick and the surrounding area, which she is happy to share. This was my first experience with a vacation rental, and it has encouraged me to look into this alternative in the future. I would not hesitate to rent any of these properties again if I return to the area.

Myself (56 year old male) +Family,50 year old wife,19 & 16 year old daughters, had a thoroughly enjoyable stay. The home is exactly as presented here and there were no unwelcome surprises. The kitchen is equipped with every conceivable accouterments, and the micro/fridge/dishwasher etc were flawless. The owners have thoughtfully left spices/treats/beer/wine-so when you arrive, you don't have to dash out to grocery store.Everything was neat, clean& plentiful.(towels, bedding, paper needs etc.) We felt welcome, and there were ample instructions/contacts/guidebooks available.TV,blueray, cable system all were in perfect shape-and easy for this techno-challenged guy to master. We stayed almost a week,we were on the go constantly.House a great "base" for our three days of D.C. sightseeing, and my family's three day reunion in Urbana.I admit to being skeptical about the Metro transport into/out of D.C.-but thankfully it was easy, safe and on time! When we finally "crashed" @ nite-we all loved the sleep # beds! The a/c system in house is easy to use and works fast! Another plus is the washer/dryer-allowed us to pack lite & avoid more baggage fees.Although we didn't use it much-there are lovely outside porch/backyard arrangements available. Fredrick is a"hip",bustling town. Ate great pizza/appetizers in the pub,and my girls loved the eclectic mix of shops downtown.Should mention that my wife loved the artwork in the house, and she even purchased a vase that is adorning our dining room, hauled it home in her carry-on! I positively loved the magazines in the back bathroom-latest issues of music/cars etc.My family has stayed in VRBO accommodations @ least once-(sometimes two to three times) a year since we discovered it in 2007.We have never been disappointed, although some places were better than others..The Artist's house is truely a Superior choice! Thanks to our host's!

We had a midweek wedding to attend. There were 6 of us coming from Minnesota. 4 of us were able to make it a 6 day vacation instead of just the wedding. Great location. Frederick is quite quaint, close to the Metro and Gettysburg. We used this as our home base and were able to wind down at night.

We stayed t the Artist's House when in Frederick. I was centrally located to Gettysburg and Washington DC. It was walking distance to several restaurants and shopping. Owner info

                  Year Purchased: 2010

About the owner: I am an enthusiastic traveler and have been booking my extended family’s vacations online for many years. Before each trip, I spend countless hours researching unique and comfortable hideaways for us to inhabit – in part because I am an online travel junkie, but mostly because I believe that the quality of the accommodations is a huge contributor to the success of any vacation. It's so much easier exploring new worlds when one's family has a comfortable place to sleep, bathe, decompress, and plan the next day's adventures. And even more than I love exploring other parts of the planet, I love introducing and sharing Frederick (my part of the planet since 1974) with others. I knew from day one that Frederick County had a very special charm. To me, it has only gotten more charming (and considerably more diverse) in the past 39 years. Presently, Frederick has no downtown hotel and just two popular downtown B&B’s. I was surprised to discover that there is a dearth of short-term furnished properties or vacation homes available to rent in the downtown area – a huge omission, from my perspective, because Frederick City and Frederick County are wonderful places for extended visits. At a crossroads in my life, I decided that something needed to be done about this. Thus the birth of Frederick Vacation Rentals (d.b.a. FrederickVacationRentalsdotcom)

Stay here and... - Walk downtown for coffee and bagels in the morning. - Sit in a Market Street sidewalk cafe (Cacique, Isabella's) and people watch. - In cold weather, sit INSIDE at a window seat table (Tasting Room, Olives, Firestones) and people watch. - Enjoy the downtown festivities and late night shopping on Frederick's First Saturdays (every month of the year!) - Explore dozens of wonderful restaurants and hundreds of interesting shops. - See a performance in Frederick's Theatre District (yes, we DO have one!) - Visit the brand new Frederick Visitor's Center on East Street, see the 13 minute movie and find out how many fantastic things there are to do in Frederick City and County! - Visit the National Museum of Civil War Medicine on Patrick Street. - Take a leisurely walk or bike ride in Frederick's city-long linear park, Baker Park. - Take the Frederick Wine Tour or visit one of our three microbreweries. - Take a Ghost Tour on a dark and stormy night (available every weekend from spring-fall). - Follow the Visitor's Center Treasure map through Frederick's historic downtown. - Look up the many special events going on in town on the City's Office of Special Events Website: the Festival of the Arts, Fourth of July, the In the Street Festival, Holidays events all December. - Attend the Great Frederick Fair in September and Frederick's two Oktoberfests in - you guessed it - October! - Tour the Delaplaine Art Museum and Frederick's many ecclectic art galleries. - Hear some live music at the Frederick Coffee House, Cafe Nola, Brewer's Alley, the Bentz Street Sports Bar, Cafe 611, to name just a few of many venues. - Check out the Children's Museum at Rose Hill Manor, the Taney House, the Frederick Historical Society, the Hessian Barracks. - Read the Frederick Magazine and the Frederick Newspost - you just won't BELIEVE how neat this area is - and you'll want to come back AGAIN and AGAIN!
