Francie takes care of the animals and gardening. The rental house is located on the SW corner of the property and offers plenty of privacy.

We stayed for one week (my husband, our 2 year old son, my parents and my in-laws) over New Year's. Things started to go awry when I got an email from the owner telling me that the dryer was broken and that he could try to get someone out to fix it if we needed it. I said that we would need it (my in-laws were coming from Chicago on the train and packed light thinking that there would be a washer and dryer). This never got fixed even though we did ask a few times (it was a holiday week, so I partly understand). On day one, my parent's shower would not drain AT ALL. Not even slowly. They called a plumber and he worked on it, but he said it was frozen. It was as it cleared up after we poured some boiling water down the toilet a few times as the plumber asked. Then, on New Year's Eve, a very loud alarm began to sound from the boiler room. We cleared out the boiler room and found that it was a water alarm on the septic tank. After calling the owner, he told us to just disconnect the alarm and that he was going to fix it next week (didn't do much to allay our fears that the septic tank would back up or something would happen while we were there). Next, in the middle of the night, there was a LOUD clicking noise coming from the boiler itself. As my husband, son and I were sleeping next to the boiler room, this was not very pleasant and kept us up for a few nights. Not to mention the fact that a defective boiler could be a serious issue. The owners had someone come out to look at it and he said that he fixed it, but really he just made it a bit less frequent. The kicker is that the repairman asked us to keep the door shut for awhile since some Carbon Monoxide may have leaked from the boiler while he fixed it, but that it would dissipate soon. Great... glad my 2 year old was taking his naps across from the boiler room. Also, they definitely have a dog and one morning I found my Dad vacuuming out the room he was staying in as the dog hair was getting all over his clean clothes that were in his suitcases on the floor (my parents are mildly allergic to animals, but I can't fault the owners as this is listed as pet friendly). All in all, not a great stay for us as I feel that perhaps this house is not quite made to be a rental. It is lived in full time by a family and needs to be maintained to a higher standard to be a 'great' rental. We were hoping for a relaxing vacation. The issues with the house surely made for a New Year's to remember...Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners.

Great location! Amazing views and beautiful property. Plenty of room for our families. Had some great family time! Pet lovers will like it here with the playful dogs, cats and chickens..which were a lot of fun! Good central location to visit close-by sites (Glenwood, Aspen, Maroon Bells - amazing! Reudi Reservoir - caught us some fish!) Also, good location for hikers, bikers, rafter, etc.!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, families with young children.
