This is a wonderful cabin - comfortable, beautifully laid out, clean. You can tell that the owners love this cabin (and we do too, now!). The kitchen is better equiped than my kitchen at home. The quiet is amazing. This was a get-away weekend for my boyfriend and I to celebrate his birthday - we arrived stressed and tired from work and family dramas, and left smiling, well rested and relaxed (hot tub under the stars!). Izumi is very helpful and easy to reach with any questions or concerns. Easy, through the woods walk to and from the "Village Center". We found the local general store to be suprisingly well stocked and the local mexican restaurant was tasty.

We brought our family to this wonderful cabin for a long weekend in the snow. Everything was perfect! The cabin is very clean and cozy with all the amenities needed. We had such fun playing in the snow and coming in to hot chocolate and games by the fire. The owners are wonderful to work with and very welcoming. It was everything I had hoped for.

I actually did not want to write a review at first for purely selfish reason: I don't want everyone knowing about this cabin! Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect. The cabin is incredibly clean and well maintained, yet still has this vibe and comfort level that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in to the front door. The place is immaculately cared for and well stocked. We were worried about spending Thanksgiving in a rental cabin due to having to cook our big meal away from our own kitchen, but quickly found that the cabin was better stocked than our house. It had every appliance and utensil we could possibly need. Before booking the cabin, I had never even heard of Pine Mountain Club. It truly is as the ad for this property suggest "so close and so far away." It is an extremely cute town. It is the chance to escape to a mountain setting without dealing with the ski crowds usually found in Big Bear and other areas. We were a little worried about privacy at first as we drove in to the neighborhood, but quickly found that the cabin felt extremely secluded in a good way. The houses tend to be pretty well spaced out, so you quickly forget you have neighbors. Also, the cabin sits a little higher up than the house behind it, so you can sit by the cozy fireplace, look out the floor to ceiling window and see the most beautiful mountain settings. The place also had a large deck with comfortable seating and a gas grill. The lower deck houses what may be the cabin's best asset: the jacuzzi. The jacuzzi is absolutely amazing. Upon opening the cover it was the cleanest most inviting jacuzzi I have ever seen and I couldn't wait to try it out. The owner goes to great lengths to maintain the jacuzzi, and it certainly shows. Sitting back and enjoying the hot water while staring at the stars became I nightly ritual. The interior of the cabin is pristine but still feels like home. There is a binder that gives you information on how to use everything. The couch was extremely comfortable and the bed as well. Everything was clean and looked brand new. There is a list of things you must clean before you leave; but don't worry, the list is not overwhelming by any means and is basically what you would do at any rental even if you were paying a cleaning fee. Doing it yourself and not paying a cleaning fee was great. Izumi was great and very accomodating. Overall, it was a great relaxing trip and we certainly will go back

                      Year Purchased: 2005

About the owner: Kenny and Izumi live in Santa Monica and enjoy our life near the beach. Kenny is a real estate professional working in Westside of L.A. since mid-80s.. Izumi is a freelance photographer with a background in documentary TV and film for over 20 years. We are both very much into self-growth and spirituality striving for conscious living every day. We are also both very active in various professional as well as community-based organizations always being of service to others. We are truly blessed to have a life in a city near the ocean as well as in the mountains where we can easily find a way to connect to the Source.

Why the Owner Chose Pine Mountain Club:
When Kenny’s daughter was a high school senior, we took her and a bunch of her friends to Big Bear for snow boarding. Since we don’t do downhill skiing, we were driving around checking out the community while the girls were on the slope. We came across some open houses in the area and noticed the prices compared to the rapidly inflating home prices in Los Angeles. We learned many of the homes on the market in the Big Bear were weekend homes. And they were very affordable. Hmmm, weekend home… That’s how we got the idea. But we didn’t like Big Bear because it felt too congested and too hard to get to. Then Izumi remembered about the Frazier Mountains where she used to go cross-country skiing with friends. She also had a few different friends who lived in the area, particularly in Pine Mountain Club, which is the inner most community in Frazier Mountains. Because the highest peak is 8,900 feet (Mt. Pinos), there isn’t downhill skiing area. At the same time, there is enough snow to do all kinds of other snow related activities. Without the downhill ski, it eliminates certain kind of crowd, which makes the area quieter. Also, being only 80-miles north of Los Angeles straight up on Interstate 5, it makes it very accessible. Yet once you’re here, it feels so far away.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We love the fact that our cell phones don’t work. Despite the relative proximity to the city, it really feels like we’ve come far away. It’s quiet, and the air is always fresh. We love the small community. As we get to know more people in the community, we feel cozy yet we’re not on top of each other. We have neighbors that watch out for our property while we still feel very private staying here. Our property is located close enough to be able to walk to the village through beautiful trails in the woods but not too close to hear the commotion when there are events. We love taking a walk through the path for our favorite chocolate croissant or full breakfast in the village. The best part of our property is our hot tub on the deck, which is the best seat in the house for start gazing.
