Welcome!
The Rockport Harbor House is located in Rockport, Maine, a small, charming town on the Goose River. Rockport was settled in 1769. Today, it has a population of 3,200 people and attracts visitors and artists from all over the world.
The Rockport Harbor House is a second floor unit consisting of two bedrooms, a living room, a fully equiped kitchen, a dining area, a large full bathroom, clothers washer and dryer in a duplex house.
The Rockport Harbor House is a 3 minute walk to the beautiful Rockport Harbor. It is also a 3 minute walk to the Maine Photographic Workshops. Camden Village is a 15 minute walk away along Union Street which is the home of the Camden-Rockport Archway made famous in the 1957 movie, Peyton Place.
Rockport Harbor House is ideally located for discovering Maine's midcoast. To the south is Rockland, Thomaston, and Port Clyde each with their own unique and beautiful coast line. To the north is Camden and Lincolnville. Rockland, Lincolnville and Port Clyde all offer ferry service allowing you to visit some of the most gorgeous islands in the Penobscot notably Islesboro, Vinalhaven, North Haven, and Monhegan.
There are many attractions to choose from in the area while staying at the Rockport Harbor House. But if you just want to stay in the village you will enjoy the Rockport Opera House (www.baychamberconcerts.org), the Maine Photographic Workshops (www.mainemedia.edu), the Center for Maine Contemporary Art (www.cmcanow.org), Windjammer Cruises (www.schoonertimberwind.com), or the Camden Snow Bowl (www.camdensnowbowl.com). You will find excellent dining at Shephard's Pie restaurant and if the shopping bug hits, stop in at Rokai Antiques or Tom Whelan's photography book store.
Here, at the Rockport Harbor House, the mornings are quiet. So are the evenings. I think you will find this former sea captain's house the perfect retreat for vacationers.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 1987
About the owner: I am a retired teacher whose passion now is painting. The Rockport area provides many opportunities to pursue my muse. When not painting, I enjoy my weekly French club discussions open to all Francophones at the Rockport library located 2 blocks from the apartment. I also enjoy outdoor activities such as tennis which I play at the local recreational park in Rockport. I also frequently ride my bicycle for exercise or relaxation when I want to get closer to nature in the lovely countryside surrounding my home.
Why the Owner Chose Rockport:
This house was our summer home while we lived overseas. When my children were grown and had careers of their own, I converted their space into an apartment to offer others the chance to experience what I consider one of the most charming ports in the Penobscot Bay. Besides its inherent beauty, Rockport is easy to get around in either by walking, by bike, or by car. For those who love the outdoors, you have the ocean one block from your apartment or Lake Megunticook 5 minutes drive away.
