My first visit to Maui......to visit my brother, he lives in a very tiny place so I needed my own space. The little 1 bedroom was perfect. little kitchen that was perfect. Loved starting my day with tea on the patio (lanai). I slept wonderfully, very comfortable and private and quiet. You will wake to bird song including a neighborhood rooster but what a lovely way to wake. Dean made it very easy to make a reservation and really gave me my privacy while also welcoming me to connect with he and his wife if I wanted to paddle board or needed anything. My days were full, beach nearby, snorkeling, exploring etc...and I am now eager to return and would stay with Dean and Rosangela again !!!! Ma-halo

We enjoyed everything about our stay with Roseangela and Dean, and were sorry we weren't able to stay longer. The guest house is really convenient to everywhere you'd want to get to in Paia. It was super clean and a pleasure to stay in, with all the amenities you'd need. The hosts are lovely people, and it was great to be able to connect with them. They were really helpful is directing us to amazing hikes and really good restaurants. We'd definitely stay with them again.

We had a great time staying in the one bedroom. We will be back as only downside was that our stay was not long enough. We were so busy every day that seven days were not enough. Rosangela and Dean were very helpful and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. Dean's carpendry and design skills made our stay more fun as we appreciate good work and craftsmanship. The concrete countertops are a plus also. Dean gave me tips on how to accomplish this ourselves in our home in Colorado. I will give it a try. The one bedroom was very private as the doors to the bedroom and bath could be closed so living areas remain quiet and peaceful. Access to town is a short walk and to the beach, a bit more, but very easy and fun. Rosangela was a wealth of knowledge and provided endless ideas for our many adventures on Maui. We did not see it all but no worry as we will be back. Also, we have stayed in the Lahaina area before and Paia is so much more to our liking without the big hotels and much hustle and bustle. Finally, our checkout was Christmas day and Dean and Angela extended their hospitality to include a visit to their home before we departed. This was much appreciated as we had a long day of travel ahead of us. much mahalo, Phlip and Betsy

We were very happy with our stay here in October. The house was clean, quiet, comfortable and well maintained. All the appliances were in good working order and there was a fast wifi connection available. The owners, Dean and Rosangela, were friendly and available and gave us many helpful suggestions including Baldwin Park and checking out the windsurfers at Hookipa Beach. The location is also excellent, far enough from town to be away from street noise but close enough to walk easily (5-10 minutes) to downtown Paia and to the beach, grocery store, restaurants, etc. It was nice to find a good selection of maps and books about the area on the bookshelf as well as the "Road to Hana" CD which we put in the CD player of our rental car for our journey down the Hana Highway. We enjoyed having our breakfast and dinner on the patio outside with the sugar cane field in the background. The view of the full moon rising over the sugar cane in the early evening was stunning. Can't wait to return!

My husband and I stayed here with our 3-month old baby and cannot say enough good things about the ohana, Paia, and especially Dean and Rosangela's kindness. The house is exactly as described - a one bedroom ohana, attached to a two-bedroom house. The one-bedroom has it's own entrance and backyard area, which is completely private from the two-bedroom house. It's clean and beautifully decorated with a very zen vibe. It's only a 5 minute walk into town, where there is a great selection of cute cafes and restaurants. The beach is probably a 5 - 10 minute walk from there. What makes this place truly special is kindness and graciousness of the owners, Rosangela and Dean. I feel like we left Maui with new friends who we will definitely be staying with again on future trips! Thank you Dean and Rosangela for all of your kindness and we look forward to seeing you again!

We stayed here for 8 days in May and had the best vacation ever! This ohana is everything all the reviews say. Woke up the first morning to birdsong and peeked out to see the most beautiful apricot colored clouds over the cane field as the sun rose! And it was like that every day! The wonderful, very private patio, gets the morning sun. The ohana itself is light and has louvered glass windows to let in the fragrant Hawaiian breeze. The interior is done in real wood, tile and other natural materials. The decor is tasty and peaceful. We found out when we were leaving that some of the paintings we had been enjoying were done by Rosangela! Dean is the excellent craftsman! Everything you might want or need is, thoughtfully, right where you would think it might be. We were also provided with beach towels, a boogie board and were offered to-go beach chairs. We only bumped in to Dean and Rosangela a couple of times after checking in, but they have the true aloha spirit! We had breakfast in every morning and cooked dinner there two or three nights. We couldn't eat every meal there, though, Paia has too much to offer and is just a short walk away. We made good use of Mana, an independent natural foods grocery store that has a large selection of local organic produce and a great deli and bakery. Flatbread Pizza has unusual, yummy toppings on whole wheat crust with organic tomato sauce and fresh local lettuce salads. Another eatery we enjoyed was the Paia Fish Market with their wide variety of very fresh fish. One day, we spent in town just browsing all the shops and walking the local beaches. There is a sidewalk the other direction from town too, that goes up past an old sugar mill and to a pretty little Catholic church that has a shrine to Father(Saint) Damien who lived with the lepers on Molokai. Last time we were on Maui we stayed in the Lahaina area, but Paia is much more convenient for exploring the rest of the island. The resort areas are quick and easy to get to, particularly South Maui. Paia is right at the beginning of the Hana Highway which can't be missed (take the long way home!). And Haleakala is a pretty and easy drive straight inland through the little town of Makawao. Be sure to check out nearby Ho'okipa Beach to see some CRAZY windsurfing and kitesurfing! It was always great to come "home" at the end of the day to our comfy little ohana. Haunted by the beauty of Maui, those breezes are calling me back! PS-no spiders inside, only 2 outside!

My friend and I stayed for nine wonderful days! This rental was great! Rosangela and Dean are the best type of owners! There when you need them but "invisible" when you don't. They were so nice and helpful. The rental was within walking distance to everything in Paia town. We loved the tip Rosangela gave us for Baldwin Beach - walk to the far right and you will be protected from strong winds. The house was cute and just the right size. I am ridiculously afraid of spiders so I deducted one star from the rating. We had several spiders that were either in the house or found their way in while we were there. I know the beauty of overlooking cane fields and having lush plants, etc comes with that drawback. If the spiders were all small I might have been ok. This was my own phobia and did not ruin my visit - I had a great friend that removed the spiders for me! I would just want other people with a fear of spiders to know there are some. I would recommend this rental to all my friends and family - and have!

Our stay at Dean’s place was excellent! The property is wonderful, serene, really private and super clean we couldn’t have gotten a better deal. My husband really enjoyed the craftsmanship of place, very nicely done! Great location, right in the very mellow town of Paia, we felt like locals! Dean and Rosangela were super nice and give us some great insider tips on the island, but also gave us complete privacy. We've vacationed in Maui in the past, but this visit was easily our favorite! I’d recommend this place to friends for sure and hopefully we find ourselves here again same time next year.
