Dr.Jim Delameter, is known for constructing the first solar houses in San Francisco, California in 1979. With an acute environmental awareness, he personally supervised the construction of the house and the salt water pool from a jungle lot up.
He dynamited the rock in front of the house to create the pool in his concept of a fish sanctuary that would also function as protected swimming from the ocean waves. Dr.Delameter utilized his many years of real estate development experience to execute this unique ecological environment. And,it works beautifully!
Upon arrival to Casa Moderna, the tall glass door welcomes you with a view of the Caribbean. Walk through an open Mediterranean style entry into your private courtyard. Casa Moderna is open to the sky and the sea. Open air spiral stairs connect the second floor.
The interior is a simple, elegant setting which accommodates a variety of special occasion gatherings. The architectural design uniquely integrates indoor and outdoor living. The interior includes expansive ten foot pocket sliding doors which open the living and dining areas to the terrace overlooking the pool and the sea.
The bathrooms have easy walk-in showers and natural limestone vanities open to the tropical breezes.
The terrace features Mayan style stone furniture and comfortable cushioned chaise lounges. From the large shaded area on the terrace you can enjoy refreshments as you watch the sunset and boats returning to the marina.
Four bedrooms with in suite bathrooms, provide a comfortable night's sleep. The media room has an in suite bathroom with sleeping accommodations for 3 to 4.
From the courtyard you can dive into the sixty foot lap pool which connects with the oceanfront Venetian tiled infinity pool.

December 2004 "I just wanted to get back to you about our trip to Casa Moderna. It is an architectural beauty. It fit our needs perfectly. It was just wonderful to open up the glass doors and have the open air feel to the home. Plenty of bathrooms and beds.
Your staff was quiet, out of the way, and helpful as needed. Hardly noticed them. We had quite a few big family dinners and the table accomodated all of us. With our large family, it was best to shop at Sam's Club (which we already had membership cards).
Your website pictures don't capture the beauty of the place. I didn't know what to expect about the little town of Puerto Aventura. The dolphin show and the restaurants, and stores within a short walk were very handy. We went to the beach at the Omni once and to the next beach south which was very nice and large with a restaurant right on the beach for our "beach" day desires.

February 14, 2004 "Wow what a great week we had. Your house is fantastic and suited our group perfectly. The space is beautiful and unique. We loved the feel of the outdoors inside. The bedrooms gave everyone privacy and the open airy downstairs is comfortable and beautiful with those gorgeous views.

April 2005 "Well, we are back, suntanned and relaxed and pretending to be back in our bodies, but our minds are still back at CASA MODERNA. We had such a lovely time I can't tell you! Perfect weather, the gentle breeze never stopped. It will be some time before we get used to sleeping without the sound of waves crashing against the rocks....(sigh!)...
We visted Tulum and Chichen Itza, we snorkled at Akumal (and feasted at Oscar and Lalo's), we swam in the ocean at the Omni, we dined at Gringo Dave's and Richards and Cafe Ole and The Pub and TiramiSu (our favorite),,,we drank mojitos at lunch and sipped Don Julio at dinner. We played cards and music by the pool, we did laps overlooking the Caribbean, and our last night we sat as the full moon glistened ...
Your home was such a wonderful place for us to gather. So tasteful and comfortable, so many cozy corners in which to hang, read, rest. And my teenage nephews were thrilled to have their own bedroom/bathroom suites for the first time in their lives! We can really feel the love you and Jim have put into your home, thank you for sharing it with us for a week that we will always treasure!
