We had a great time at Great Horizons Cottage..spotless clean..all the amenities..including beach gear! GREAT views..2 minute drive to Salt Pond..gorgeous bay..10 minute drive to Coral bay--- Was really nice to be on the Coral Bay side of the island versus busy Cruz Bay. We had everything we needed for a great vacation. We would MOST definitely rent this cottage again.

Our accommodations were wonderful! Four of us had a wonderful time, and the place was very roomy. Looking out the picture windows was like looking at a beautiful painting. The deck was our favorite spot! Sunrises were awesome. So many beaches; so little time! Everything was done in top notch fashion. Susan tried to come by twice and meet us but we were gadabouts! We were lucky enough to stay on St. John for two and a half weeks for our honeymoon. During that time, we stayed in three villas. One near Cruz Bay, one near Fish Bay and the third was Horizons Cottage near Coral Bay. Horizons had the nicest views hands down, more "goodies", most comfortable bed and was the least expensive of all the places we stayed! What a great deal. Horizons Cottage is in a cute little neighborhood with a lunch restaurant/bar (The Tourist Trap-good food!) within walking distance..and a "real" dinner restaurant also around the corner at Concordia. You can also walk to Salt Pond Bay, my favorite snorkel spot on St. John. We will definitely be back to Horizons. Now I see why you're booked so quickly in season! Thanks again for a wonderful stay.

This house has it all. Great accomodations for 2 couples, Great views. Great bathrooms. Great Kitchen and Living room and easy parking for a car. I personally highly recommend this property.

Recommended for:Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

What a great house! The views are fantastic, just like the pictures. The house was very clean, comfortable with all the accessories we needed (Sue - we appreciated the beach towels - that was one thing we had forgotten). Sue was very helpful, sending us lots of information ahead of time and calling while we were there to make sure everything was fine. The location for us was perfect - away from the crowds, but very convenient to wonderful beaches and hiking. There were several very nice places to eat from 1 to 10 minute drive (The Tourist Trap which is within walking distance doesn't look like much, but the food is very good). I would certainly recommend this house to anyone wanting to stay in the Coral Bay area.

Recommended for:Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our time at Horizons, especially sitting on the deck in the morning and evening. The house was lovely and very well equipped. We especially appreciated all of the information that Sue sent prior to our arrival. We hope to return.

Susan&Dan: Thanks for the use of Horizons cottage, it is truly an amazing place to be. The stars put on a show themselves that is breathtaking to say the least. It was difficult to get going each day as we did not want to leave the scenery of our perch. Can you imagine the decisions one has to make each day, what beach to go to what trail to walk or what day do you think it is. We met Kathleen at Aqua Bistro who had great things to say about you and Dan, we love the Coral Bay area and the people who stay there I cannot say enough about it and them. I did want to tell you on one occasion the flapper on the double bed room commode stuck one time so you may want to keep an eye on it. I bid you all peace and serenity and hope to visit again soon. What is wrong with this picture? I asked myself when I awoke this morning. Instead of the sun rising on the horizon to my left, I looked out at bare trees and the snow encrusted patches of green. My morning coffee somehow did not have the same allure. It was not without trepidation that we chose an unknown house on an unfamiliar island from pictures on the web. After we spoke with Sue, it somehow felt right and our gut feeling did not disappoint us. Our stay at Horizons was just what we hoped it would be and more. Since getting away just the four of us is so rare these days, we wanted to get it right. And that it was! From the warmth exuded by Sue from the moment we spoke to the excellent, fully-equipped, quiet accommodations, our stay at Horizons was one that we will remember for a long time. The view is striking and originally thought to be the best feature of the visit. Then we met the people, swam in the warm waters of the white sand beaches, kayaked, snorkeled, went boating to the BVI with Dan, and relaxed more than we had in a while and we realized that there are so many things to love about Horizons, Coral Bay, St. John and Sue and Dan! The picture on the website are true to form. It is as quiet, serene and spectacular as it appears. We cannot wait to return!

This comment is not on the villa, but instead on the owner. Sue responded IMMEDIATLY to my inquiries and provided helpful info, not just about Horizons, but about the area nearby, things to do and helpful tips. We aren't able to book Horizons this trip, sadly. But if you are thinking of booking it yourself, send an email - Sue is a very helpful and responsive host!

Sue, Thank you so much for the privilege of staying at the unbelievable "Horizons!" With its panoramic views, first class accommodations, quiet rural location, and most comfortable bed ever, the total package surpasses what words can express in a website. I have not seen such beautiful sunrises over the water in years! As semi-retired sailors, watching the tides ebb and flow into John’s Folly Bay and seeing boats of all varieties plow the waters, a visit to “Horizons” is a dream come true. A little piece of paradise,that you will enjoy. Close to the best snorkeling.(salt pond and waterlemon cay) If you like the peace and quiet, this is the place for you. Gorgeous view and a great breeze. Everyting you need is already there. We had a wonderful vacation. Great food at the local restaurants. Would love to go back.

As much as I'd like to keep this place my little secret, it's only fair for me to share it and it give it five stars. Coral Bay is a sleepy place so if you are looking for a resort - the late and loud nightlife, look in Cruz bay. If you want real laughter with real people in a sublime setting and maybe some great blues music, this is it. Horizon house has excellent owners who also can take you out for a day on the ocean which I equally recommend. Like any great trip, the pictures on the web just don't do the house justice. I was grateful to find it was everything I expected and more. This is one of the few places where I feel like I need to go back.

January 4-18, 2008 What a absolute paradise to spend our annual vacation! This is our 2nd stay on St John. First time we stayed in Captain's Cabin and this time we brought some friends! We filled both Horizons and Captain's Cabin! We enjoyed the extra room in Horizons with the same beautiful view of the islands and azure ocean water that you just can't take your eyes off of. I don't think that we would stay at any other place on this island. Horizons was equipped with every household item that I could think of. Sue was so accommodating to us. We think of her and Dan as our friends! Horizons is an exceptional vacation home. Beautiful wood thru out the house. Unique bathroom shower was real tropical. Huge windows from every corner gave us that feeling that I can't believe we are really here! Thank you Sue and Dan for another excellent vacation! Cindy and Todd

We just got back from a marvelous stay at Horizons cottage. We were a little worried about the heat in August, but the constant trade winds kept us cool. The view is superb and the cottage is well away from the heavily touristed areas of St. Thomas and most of St. John. A real gem.

The view from Horizons Cottage has to be one of the best on all of St John. We made it a point to get up early enough to view every sunrise from the deck and they were great. The highlight of the trip had to be out on your sailboat, SHAKTI. The next best highlight was seeing the turtles, singrays, and other wild creatures above and below the surf. Horizons has a perfect location for all the beaches, especially Salt Pond, the best of the best.The cottage is more than adequate for a wonderful vacation offering all the comforts of home. 8 days was not long enough. The view with the beautiful sunrises made it the best choice on the island. Add that to 5 mins to Salt Pond Bay and a day on Sue and Dans sailboat,Shakti and you can't beat it.

My husband, myself and our 2 daughters (ages 16 and 12) spent the week of Aug 10-Aug 17 at Horizon's Cottage. This was our first time on St John. We had great weather and we think Horizon's is one of the best spots on the island. We really enjoyed Lucky the cat, got a kick out of the island donkeys, goats and all the natural beauty that St John has to offer. We hope to get back again some day.

Fantastic view,cool breeze,crystal clear water,lovely house - made it perfect for our family. We had a wonderful time exploring the beaches,horseback riding,sailing and long lunches in Miss Lucys Shipwreck and Skinny Legs!Great snorkeling and swimming,and our girls spent many afternoons building hotels for the hermit crabs! Horizons Cottage was exactally as the website pictured it. Up on the hillside overlooking the beautiful Caribbean with a few other cottages nearby with plenty of space and privacy. We did a little shopping but a lot of the essentials were already there, so it worked out very nicely. I'll never forget the views, the stars and wonderful sea breezes. Enjoy!

After living in the Virgin Isls for ten years and returning as tourists every two years, we have found that the Horizons has filled the void that we were looking for. As former sailors, we like to spend a week sailing and a week at a spot with a beautiful view, seclusion, and confort. The Horizon fills the bill. We will take advantage of Susan Littlefield's hospitality many more times and recommend her cottages to everyone. Ed & Pat Walsh

Horizons was the perfect place for us to celebrate our honeymoon. We look forward to coming back to celebrateour anniversaries. The views are breathtakin, how can one have an unpleasant thought while you just have to look outside to see heaven on earth. \our trip was amazing and the last day we went to the BVI's with Captain Clarke and another newlywed couple. The snokeling was great out at sea. Please don't forget to feed Lucky, the cat. He will meow promptly in the morning to remind you. He's a sweetheart and seems to like alittle attention. This place just seemed to feel like home and we are very sad to leave St. John:( Doug and Abby Stacy

July 13-27, 2004 This was our first trip to St. John. We had a wonderful time at Horizons. The view off the deck was incredible, and the breeze off the ocean kept it cool. The house was clean and comfortable, very roomy for the two of us. We were supposed to spend our second week on the Cruz Bay side of the island, but when we arrived, we found our rental full of mosquitos, the roof leaking, and the last straw was the 2' iguana in the living room. Fortunately, we knew that Horizons was available the next week. A quick call to Susan in MA and Cathy on the island, and we were headed back to what felt like home. We appreciated our 2nd week all the more after that experience. Salt Pond Bay is a beautiful spot for swimmng and snorkeling. The five minute drive from Horizons made it an easy place to spend an afternoon or go for a evening dip. The other beaches were not difficult to reach (once we got used to the driving) and were definitely worth exploring. We truly enjoyed our two weeks at Horizons and hope to return.

We had a lovely trip to St. John during the last week of May. From the deck we had the most wonderful view, and we even was a large ray in the lagoon below the house. Lucky, the cat, was excellent company on the deck in the evenings- and we discovered he really likes tuna.

Horizons was a perfect fit for our family of four (two teenage girls). The house was immaculate and beautifully furnished, the view inspiring. Even though the temperatures were in the 90's during our June stay, the breezes kept even a bunch of Northwesterners comfortable. We really enjoyed being on the "quiet" side of the island, and never felt we were too far from any of the wonderful beaches, restaurants or shopping. We give Horizons a rave review and would definitely go back.
