The Bluff House is the ultimate Harbor Country Beachfront Home. Lounge by the pool, sip margarita's at Sunset on the wraparound porch, or walk the beautiful endless beach of Lake Michigan all at your doorstep. The Bluff house is truly a once in a lifetime experience that brings family and friends together for relaxation and great fun. Set on the bluff overlooking the mighty Lake Michigan, views are spectacular from almost every room in the house. The full size swimming pool is located behind the house and gives privacy and seclusion from an occasional windy lakefront day.
Upon your arrival head to the grocery store in nearby New Buffalo and shop for the week because you will not want to leave the privacy and beauty that the Bluff House offers.
The bottom floor has 3 bedrooms and 2 full hall bathrooms. One bedroom has twin beds, another has a double bed with french doors that open to the lawn and lake. The third bedroom has a queen with french doors that also open to the lake. Laundry room is also on this floor. Upstairs on the main floor is a bunk room with 4 bunk beds and a trundle. The bunk room sleeps 10! Kitchen, living and dining room with french doors open to the spectacular vistas of the manicured lawn and lake.
The top floor has 2 master suites each with king beds and en-suite bathrooms with large walk in closets. Each master has its own porch overlooking Lake Michigan. There is also a steam shower between the two suites.
Adjacent to the pool is 'the getaway house' which has a living room, 3/4 bathroom and bedroom with a queen bed.

Our extended family rented Bluff House for Thanksgiving. The accommodations are lovely and comfortable: beautifully decorated inside, fabulous views outside, from many windows and doors. The listing and pictures were accurate, and the owner answered questions to help us determine whether the bed configuration would work for us. The property was very clean, and it is certainly beautifully maintained. It is extremely well equipped. The kitchen is very user friendly. I would definitely recommend the property. (Although, if I could, I'd keep it a secret in hopes that it would always be available for our own group needs.) Given that we were there in November, I can only imagine how lovely it is to be there in the summer: pool in the private back area, and beach down below, with views of the lake from so many vantage points, and a wide porch and gazebo. The house is three levels. The main bedrooms are either up or down a flight of stairs. The beach is also down numerous stairs. This would not be a good place for anyone with mobility issues. With that caveat, I highly endorse Bluff House as a wonderful, relaxing, comfortable place to stay. The nearby grocery, although small, has an excellent selection. We had a nice breakfast at Blue Plate Cafe, and a delicious dinner at Skip's.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, age 55+, families with teenagers.

We are still raving about our wonderful Girls Getaway weekend at the Bluff House. There were 9 of us gals who unanimously agreed this will be our annual "go to" spot each fall. Carol, our wonderful owner, was gracious enough to provide a spectacular home that had every amenity imaginable. While previous visits to Harbor Country had us enjoying the sights of the town and all it had to offer, we decided to spend our time enjoying this fabulous home. It's exactly as described/pictured, only better. We used the spacious dining room that also contains a huge wet bar/breakfront. This was the setting for our brunch and dinner buffets. We enjoyed setting the table differently with each meal as there was a variety of serving pieces, place settings etc (HOW FUN!!). The great room was perfect, we were all in one place, gathered around the 2 islands for cocktails and appys or sitting around the fireplace playing charades. We have transformed a side bar table into our jigsaw puzzle spot (one could never resist adding a piece to the puzzle every time you walked by). There was a sound system with a wide variety of CDs to enjoy. The bedrooms were cozy and comfortable with fluffy big robes. We had a crackling fire going at all times, perfect for the 50 degree fall days. One evening we decided to enjoy a fire in the outdoor fire pit. Our morning coffee was enjoyed on the huge front porch with views of the yard, gazebo and lake. It was just breathtaking. This home was immaculate. We felt so welcome, like we were the most important guests ever (we were weren't we Carol?) We hated to leave. After telling our friends, they too are interested in staying (bunk room is great for kids/grandkids. Our many thanks for allowing us to share your home. While Bluff House was described accurately, it was so much more than could be described. The surrounding grounds including the gazebo leading to the beach, the beautiful private beach, the huge well-kept front lawn, and the pool and pool house were all awesome. The owner was always helpful and communicated with us from the day that we booked Bluff House until our arrival date. We were greeted by the owner our first day there and treated as very special house guests. We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful house and its numerous amenities. The huge front porch and surrounding deck was a family favorite. While there were many surrounding activities to enjoy, most of the time we stayed right there at Bluff House.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

About the owner: The Bluff House has been our family's vacation home since 1991. Our large family has enjoyed all aspects of the house.
Why the Owner Chose New Buffalo:
The Bluff House is 70 minutes from Chicago and that is a huge plus for our family. Amtrak offers daily service to and from New Buffalo.
The ease of getting to Harbor Country is the primary reason we have this as our families' second home.
New Buffalo is a quaint town offering boutiques, bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, a marina and public boat launch.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
During the warm weather months we are at the beach and pool. Sunsets on the porch or in the gazebo are an event scheduled into each day's activities.
We love games and play volleyball, badminton, bocce ball, corn hole, football, and wiffle ball on the immense lawn overlooking the lake.
Euchre is a family favorite as is scrabble and rummikub.
Winter is always a special time as the large stone fireplace in the great room is always roaring with a warm fire. Nature walks abound at the nearby state parks.
This is truly a 4 season home with activities for everyone.
