Enjoy peaceful life at the Villa / Ranch...: Wake up and shower in our unique 180-degree windowed showers overlooking the country side and have breakfast in one of the terraces outside with lagoon/ countryside views. Then go to the beach just 5 minutes away, or just relax by the pool, or read a book and enjoy the view from the bay window in front of the fireplace. Take a walk to 'La Huerta' and see how we grow our own organic vegetables for family consumption, or go down to the Olive Tree Plantation.
You can also go horseback riding in one of our tame pure-breed 'Criollo' horses with our experienced caretaker. Take a walk around the lagoon, go bird watching, or walk a little further to the beach right down the road, where you can enjoy watching or practicing Kitesurfing!

Mi esposa y yo, junto con la familia de ella, nos quedamos en La Chacra Las Gurisas en Jose Ignacio por 1 semana los primeros días de Diciembre, por recomendación de unos amigos de Chicago que se habían quedado alli. Era el inicio de la temporada por lo que estaba mas tranquilo que en Enero (yo había estado en Punta del Este hace unos años para fin de año). Encontramos que el lugar es un paraíso, el tiempo perfecto, caluroso durante el dia, y un poco de brisa y viento en la noche. Pudimos disfrutar mucho de la playa, la naturaleza, salidas a caballo, cenas en la casa y en restaurantes muy buenos sobre la playa, como La Huella, gracias a las recomendaciones que nos proporciono la propietaria de antemano. La chacra esta a 5 km del pueblo de Jose Ignacio, lo cual brinda independencia, paz y tranquilidad, pero a la vez uno puede acercarse a los grandes restaurantes si lo desea en el pueblo o al ruido de La Barra y Punta del Este a unos pocos km mas. La casa es amplia, decorada con buen gusto y con todas las comodidades necesarias. El servicio fue muy bueno, el caseros nos hizo un “asado” al estilo Uruguayo, y nos acompaño en alguna cabalgata una tardecita. Jose Ignacio es un lugar tranquilo donde uno puede realmente descansar de verdad. Recomiendo ampliamente visitar Jose Ignacio, Uruguay, como también alojarse en la chacra Las Gurisas, ya que fue una estadia maravillosa.Owner response: Estimado Roberto, Muchas gracias por haberse quedado en nuestra propiedad y por su review! My wife and I live in London and we have always wanted to visit South America. So in August 2012 we decided to go to Argentina and Uruguay for 10-day trip with some friends. We decided to spend part of that time in Jose Igancio, Uruguay, as I had read so much about it. We stayed at “Las Gurisas" ranch for a 3-day weekend with our friends (another couple). We flew from Buenos Aires into Punta del Este (another option is to fly into Montevideo, but Punta del Este is much closer to Jose Igancio). The flight from Buenos Aires to Punta Del Este was just 30 minutes. We rented a car at the airport and drove through Punta Del Este, which, even in the off season, is a pretty ritzy resort town. From Punta del Este, the drive to the ranch in Jose Ignacio was another 30 minutes or so (we did some sightseeing along the way). The property is magnificent and well maintained, situated among natural landscape with amazing views, truly a superb getaway! The on-site staff took us on a horseback rides, which was a wonderful experience. At night, we would sit on the back porch next to the pool and see more stars than I have before (the back pourch would be ideal for summer with its pool and "parilla" for barbeques). The beach is just 5 minutes away, and even though it was not summer time, we walked along the sand since the winter is quite mild by European standards. On the "brava" beach, close to the lighthouse in Jose Ignacio is a spectacular restaurant called “La Huella” where we found delicious food being enjoyed by people visiting from all over the world. We highly recommend staying at this house. It is ideal for 4-6 people and the cost per couple per night is no more than a 5 star hotel, but you are getting much more in the package as you have an entire luxury country home with horses, swimming pool, private lagoon and on site help all to yourself! The only surprise was that restaurants were more expensive than what we expected, but because it was a short stay, we did not want to bother with cooking much in the house. All in all, we got what we were looking for: peace, quiet and relaxation in the country but very close to the beach. We stayed at “Las Gurisas Ranch” twice, including our destination wedding. The first time we stayed was the last few days of December 2006 and first few days of 2007, for my wedding. My in-laws, my fiancé and I, stayed at Las Gurisas Ranch. I had been to Punta del Este once before and fell in love with Jose Ignacio, therefore decided to get married in the chapel there. The property is spacious, well-maintained, decorated with great taste and the service was excellent. Ana Maria, the owner, was incredibly helpful during the months prior to arriving, with my wedding plans and organization, and also with additional lodging for all our friends coming from Chicago. She assisted us with all details during our 10-day stay as well. We even had an entire lamb cooked for us and our friends on New Year´s Day! We enjoyed our first stay so much that we returned to Las Gurisas for our 3rd year anniversary in January 2010. The second time around we were able to make good use of the ranch´s horses, and loved the proximity to the most exclusive beach of the entire Uruguayan coast! We saw some of the best Argentine polo players in an exhibition match, and the Rugby 7-a-side World Cup in Punta del Este. There are many great dining options from cozy cafés to authentic parilladas to high end restaurants. The beach-front restaurant “La Huella”, is located very close by in front of the Brava beach in Jose Ignacio, and is highly recommended by the famous NYC chef Anthony Bourdain in his show “No Reservations”, applauding the seafood served there! It is one of the best restaurants in the area and we ended up going several times. We love to go out at night, and the energy and nightlife of Punta del Este is electric! There are fantastic options for every age and taste from Latin music, to Dance, to Jazz music. We danced until sunrise a couple of times at nightclubs found stretched along the coast of Punta and also in La Barra. We also went to a Designer Fashion Show and several Art Galleries. On a more laid back night, the onsite help cooked us an incredible “asado”, (kind of like BBQ) while we were able to appreciate the beautiful views from the house sipping a glass of local Tannat (Red) wine and playing pool in the lofted game room. The views of the stars from the ranch at night are also very impressive. One thing to be sure though is that you MUST rent a car to move around. All in all both times were unforgettable and we hope to go back again someday.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We stayed at LAS GURISAS in the month of July, winter time in Uruguay. It was an unforgetable stay. The house is amazingly beautiful, elegant and with all the possible comfort. The view is marvellous and relaxing. We, my husband and I, brought our 4 children, ages 10 to 20. Each one could find fun activities to do. We also loved exploring the country side horse back riding and going to the beach to play sports. We visited some wonderful restaurants and were able to have the Uruguayan delicious asados grilled at LAS GURISAS. In addition the attention of the housekeepers was excellent. The house properly cleaned and provided all desired assistance. We wish to go back during summer time. We want to enjoy the sea and all the fun activities of the season. We highly recommend LAS GURISAS to our best friends, and suggest to have a car to go any place around Jose Ignacio.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
