We had a wonderful stay at Riverfront Cottage on the Puntledge River. The cottage is close to everything - within walking distance of downtown Courtenay, half an hour from Mt. Washington, and the Courtenay River Walkway, to name a few places. The description of the cottage and the website pictures portray the cottage accurately and reflect the rental's outstanding appearance and amenities. The cottage is beautifully decorated with fine linens, comfortable furniture and a well-stocked kitchen. We were able to cook meals for our two families and everyone was comfortable in the large livingroom, 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. The cottage was spotless and well-maintained, with wifi, a 3-D tv, woodfloors - Jacqueline has thought of everything you could possibly need! There were bikes and kayaks for our use and a well-maintained garden and large deck. Jacqueline was prompt at answering any questions we had and we hope we can come and stay again sometime. I would recommend this house to a family with young or teenage children. It would also be great for a romantic getaway or a girls' weekend. I would recommend this property to friends and family.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car.
Owner response: it's our joy to know that our guests have felt 'at home' and have enjoyed the beauty of living on the river close to downtown. Thank you for taking such good care of the cottage. Please, come visit again.

The modest exterior belies a large luxurious interior. We enjoyed kayaking on the river and into the harbour even though it was cool. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. We had a fuse problem but it was efficiently looked after, especially considering it was during the holidays. The grounds were very nice but the weather didn't allow too much use of the deck. The kitchen was very well equipped which was important to us and allowed us to host some relatives. All in all, an excellent spot for a wonderful vacation. Highly recommended!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your favorable review. I am happy that you enjoyed the kayaks out on the water. With the snow on the shore it must have been beautiful.

The property was decorated with simple beauty and comfort in mind. Many little extras were included like heated (yes) toilet seats, heated towel bars, bubble bath and lotions, battery operated "candles", etc.. - good coffee maker - great lighting. The beds were really comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed to cook our meals during the 10 days we were there - which we like to do. Everything was clean and linens, furniture and dishes were very new. It is a beautiful spot to sit and look at the river. The living room has a skylight making it bright on a dull day and you can watch the stars from the couch. The T.V. is 3D - kind of neat. We did not use the kayaks, tubes, bicycles or barbeque but that would have been fun. The cottage is within walking distance of grocery stores, nice local clothing and other boutiques, coffee shops and a great restaurant with some good vegetarian items on the menu called The Atlas. There is also a really nice walking trail through the forest to the river which starts just steps from the door. Our friends from Australia loved the place too. We picked blackberries and raspberries on the property which we enjoyed. We would recommend Courtney River Cottage to anyone of any age for any reason. The owner was prompt with requests.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for this wonderful review! We are very happy that you have had a 'true vacation' at our cottage. It was a pleasure to get to know you two just a little bit and see you enjoying yourselves and relaxing beside the river.

I would highly recommend "Courtenay River Cottage" to anyone visiting the area. The cottage cleanliness is superb. Lots of little extras added to a very pleasant stay. Walking trails nearby, close to restaurants and shopping. The photos on the website accurately depict the cottage. Kayacking on the river, biking, rafting...it's all there.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: We appreciate that you treated the cottage as your own while you were vacationing on the river. Come again! :)

We had such a glorious 5 days at the cottage... we did not want to leave! You have really went above and beyond to make your guests feel comfortable.. from bath robes to toothbrushes and bathbombs! This is the 5-star resort of cottages! We cannot wait to come back. We really enjoyed sitting in the backyard every night watching for seals. My brother and the two teens enjoyed kayaking every evening. We saw blue herons, racoons, and of course seals! It was nice to have our family come to us giving us more time to relax and not be driving all around the valley. Thank you for the great memories!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We stayed for a second time this year at the Courtenay River Cottage. We loved it the first time and even more the second time. The owners had taken the time to tend the gardens and add a gas fire pit. It was lovely sitting outside at night next to the fire pit right in front of the river. We have stayed at several VRBO's but this is our favourite. It's always clean and very comfortable. The owners go out of their way to accommodate their guests. A great place to stay and convenient to everything in beautiful Courtenay!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: We think that summer is not complete without a few evenings spent sitting by a fire together. We are glad that you enjoyed the fire pit. Thanks for naming Courtenay River Cottage as your favourite VRBO stay. Come again.

This is a great place in which to unwind and enjoy the Comox Valley. The home is nestled along the Courtenay River while buttressing downtown Courtenay, so gives you the best of both worlds. It has a large deck out back and is beautifully appointed and furnished inside, with attention to convenience, detail and style. It even has a heated towel rack in the bathroom, which warms up the towels as you take a bath or shower. The owner, Jacqueline, is very gracious and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful vacation rental. I will always look forward to staying there when skiing Mt. Washington or golfing in the valley.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind words. It makes us smile when our guests tell us how much they relaxed and enjoyed their visit at the cottage. We look forward to your return visits.

We had a great time enjoying this beautiful cottage for the weekend. It was so well equipped with guests in mind, even soft robes in every bedroom. The place was so clean and the beds were very comfortable! We loved sitting on the waterfront deck and our kids were thrilled with the hammock. We also enjoyed an evening kayak on the river as well as a bike ride on the trails! It was so close to 5th street shopping we didn't need our car, we just walked up the street. Thank you for everything we will be back!Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

About the owner: I love the outdoors and enjoy finding new discoveries in and around Courtenay! My favorite things to do would be cross country skiing on Mount Washington, hiking & walking the trails by Nymph Falls!
Why the Owner Chose Courtenay:
This river-front property is a rare find. It was constructed in 1936, renovated and expanded in 1992. Then we again renovated and decorated in 2011/12. The cottage's quaint charm is refreshing in its idyllic location. You can feel something peaceful about the cottage as you relax and enjoy the river-view through its large windows.
From past guests' comments and reviews, this cottage seems to be exactly the type of stay everyone is looking for!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
It's wonderful. You can swim, fish, hike, bike, walk, ski or relax with a book or a movie. It has something.. for anyone!
Come enjoy yourself. We know you will want to come back!
