  My family stayed at this house and was so disappointed with the condition of the house we have asked for some of our monies back. We have been dealing with the owner about this situation since we got back home. The toilet had to be fixed within two hours of our arrival and the kitchen sink had to be plunged daily! There was a major rebuild construction of a home within 15 feet of us and the noise was outrageous. The owner of our rental had mentioned to my niece 4 days ahead of our flight 'there is a little construction next door' and says she will not return any of our rent because we could have gone somewhere else! We could not close the window in our bedroom to shut out the noise of the Tyvek flapping in the wind all night because there was no window to shut! There was a screen but no window...The construction noise was so loud we could not just hang out for a day and relax. One day they actually had to jackhammer out the driveway for replacement! That meant noise and we had to search for a place to park on the street. (I don't begrudge the construction crew. They have a job to do. The problem is the owner not disclosing the extent of the noise that was occurring.) There are no dressers in either of the smaller bedrooms. The lawn out front was dead & dry so you couldn't even lie on the lawn and you have to wear flip-flops to cross the lawn to get to the beach. This was an 8-day vacation with our son, his girlfriend, our nephew & his wife. I enjoyed Oahu and being with my family was wonderful, but was so disappointed we weren't able to just hang out and relax at the vacation home. Even if the construction next door is complete - I absolutely recommend finding another place! (the only reason this has one star is because I couldn't submit this review without providing a rating - otherwise it would not have had any stars)

  Owner response: I have a list of people who know this home & can verify how much they have enjoyed staying in the home. Rarely does someone hold the owner hostage to get a discounted vacation, but this is the case here.The home was in immaculate condition upon their arrival, which was early, yet they were accommodated.They even commented on how beautiful the freshly cleaned windows looked.Yes, there was construction on the neighboring house, which I had no control over. I mentioned 2 months prior to their arrival that although I was not in the home, my understanding was construction had begun. I spoke to them a week prior to their arrival, they were already on island in Waikiki. I had just arrived to my home & told them construction was taking place. There was no construction the day they arrived, as it was a holiday. There was no construction on wkends. I was told by the contractor there would be little if any work between 4th of July & the wkend. 3 out of the first 5 days there was no construction & the other 2 days there was to be none or very little. I called the 4th day of their stay, left a message asking if everything was ok & pls call me back if their were any problems or questions. THEY NEVER RETURNED MY CALL. Their deposit was returned in full, sent within 2 wks. I received a call 2 1/2 wks after their departure & they made complaints & asked for most of their money back. I had felt bad about the neighbors construction noise so along with their full deposit, I had sent them an additional several hundred dollars. The sink has never stopped up, so they must have crammed food down it, & this is the first I heard of it. They clogged the toilet within 2 hrs. It was fixed within an hour of their call even though it was a holiday. I told them in the initial call I was replacing the lawn, but that would not take place until I was there due to the watering, care, getting bids,etc. There is a lg deck for sunbathing as well as a white sand beach only steps away. All bedrooms have full closets/shelves & master has lg dresser. The driveway was replaced after their departure,so I have no idea what they are talking about. I do not feel these complaints are justified. After a demand of money, I asked them if they were truly so unhappy, why didn't they return my call & tell me? I would have gladly allowed them to leave & reimbursed them for any time not stayed. I would have been happy to find another them another home. They have plenty of rooms at Turtle Bay Hotel. Very Unfair.
