With it's one-mile stretch of golden beach, Lahinch is one of Ireland's most popular resorts offering visitors great variety, with spectacular scenery, varied entertainment, great sport, friendly people and choice accommodation.

To the north of county Clare, the rugged Atlantic coast rises nearly 700 feet above the sea in the shape of the Cliffs of Moher. A couple of miles away, you'll find an amazing Karst limestone region called the Burren, which features caves, underground streams and rare alpine flora. The area also has plenty of fascinating archaeological sites, including the 5000-year-old Poulnabrone Dolmen.

Charming villages like Doolin, Fanore and Ennistymon are famed for their traditional music sessions. Clare is an ideal destination for those in search of the outdoors; sea, lake and river fishing, walking and cycling and of course golfing are all popular activities in the county.

Lahinch is famous for its surfing beaches and creators for all levels.

Cliffs of Moher: The Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's top Visitor attractions. The Cliffs are 214m high at the highest point and range for 8 kilometres over the Atlantic Ocean on the western seaboard of County Clare. O'Brien's Tower stands proudly on a headland of the majestic Cliffs. From the Cliffs one can see the Aran Islands, Galway Bay, as well as The Twelve Pins, the Maum Turk Mountains in Connemara and Loop Head to the South. The Cliffs of Moher take their name from a ruined promontory fort “Mothar” which was demolished during the Napoleonic wars to make room for a signal tower.

The Cliffs of Moher are home to one of the major colonies of cliff nesting seabirds in Ireland. The area was designated as a Special Protection Area (SPA) for Birds under the EU Birds Directive in 1986 and as a Refuge for Fauna in 1988. Included within the designated site are the cliffs, the cliff-top maritime grassland and heath, and a 200 metre zone of open water, directly in front of the cliffs.

Surfing: The two-mile long beach in Lahinch with its variety of breaks caters for novice, intermediate and experienced surfers. 5 miles further south you will find Spanish Point, another perfect surfing beach. Both are some of the best places in Europe to learn surfing with the advantage of the slower rolling Atlantic waves. John McCarthy, Former Irish Surf Champ and his crew of hardcore surfdude instructors, invites you and your friends to come and experience the thrill and excitement of surfing at Irelands best known SurfSchool.

What a wonderful time our gang of four had...at Anne's lovely place. Our first evening we had a very special dinner at Barrtra Seafood Restaurant just down the road, on Anne and Mairtin's recommendation. The area around Lahinch is just beautiful! We had the most wonderful four days exploring Doolin, the Cliff's of Moher, Ennistyman, the villages around the Burren and of course Lahinch. Our third night was the highlight of our stay! Before dinner we drove up to the bluffs above Lahinch and watched the most spectacular sunset...the colors were awesome! Then we had a very nice dinner at the Cornerstone Restaurant. The best was yet to come! After dinner we met Anne and Mairtin in Ennistyman at Cooley's Pub. All the locals were gathered for an evening of singing, dancing, music and of course a pint or two of Irish beer. Anne and Mairtin each sang us a ballad. What an evening! Thanks Anne and Mairtin.

We had a fantastic stay. The house was extremely comfortable and we were within easy reacy of the lively town of Lahinch. There are numerous restaurants and pubs to choose from with most offering traditional Irish meals and music and a very reasonable price. Every morning we had breakfast overlooking the fantastic view towards the cliffs of moher. The air is the freshest you will ever breath and the scenery is unspoilt. It is easy to give this house five stars and I would recommend it to anybody to spend time there.

We stayed in Anne's house and had a wonderful time. Anne was very helpful and gave us lots of tips of where to go and what to do. The house is within a short drive of Lahinch town and beach Anne gave us some good recommendations of Restaurants and traditional pubs to visit. The house is in a fantastic location with a stunning view over towards the Cliffs of Moher. There is nothing but lush green countryside between the large patio overlooking the cliffs and the actual cliffs. I wish we could sit and have our breakfast every morning in the spacious bright lounge. What a way to start every day. The rest of the house is everything one could desire for a nice holiday. Comfortable beds, plenty of towels, bed-sheets, and a fully equiped kitchen to name but a few. I wish every holiday home could be as nice as this. It is easy to see Anne takes pride in the house as she uses it herself when she is not travelling. Highly recommended both for the house itself and Anne's lovely nature.

My wife and I wanted to come to Ireland for our Honeymoon and we knew we wanted to stay in the country, to see the "real" Ireland. We flew into Dublin and saw the city for the day but then we were off on our cross country drive to the little coastal village of Lahinch. Ann met us near the beach and led us to the house and right away you can tell that the view is even better than in the pictures! Ann gave us plenty of information on things to do, but mostly we were interested in the places to eat and drink. She told us of a pub down in the village called the Cornerstone that was great so we got dressed and headed down only to find that the kitchen was closed for the evening. But, we were in luck because the manager went back into the kitchen and brought us out two big plates of traditonal irish stew! It was very thoughtful and delicious and their generosity instantly made it our "home base". As for the house we really couldn't have asked for more. You know it's well kept because they live in it when they aren't renting it. The views from the dining room and the bedroom upstairs are just what we wanted. We went to bed every night watching the sun set and woke up watching it rise over the bay. The only thing we weren't used to was the short supply of hot water, but having the sauna in the house made it easy to warm up when the hot water tank was empty. All in all, the house, the town, the people..it was all exactly what we were hoping for when we booked the trip. We can't wait to come again!
