Located in Tahoe Village on the Nevada side of Heavenly ski resort, this townhouse has spectacular views of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding mountains. It offers an exhilarating and refreshing experience for the first time or repeat traveler to the area. Great for single professionals or families with children who appreciate the fun to be had outdoors and who also want a very nice place to return to for downtime and rest hours. Not to mention the 24/7 nightlife of Tahoe's finest casinos, restaurants and entertainment at your doorstep for those who don't want to sleep.
The building is shared by 4 units of varying sizes and shapes with your unit being the largest and tallest at 1,750 s.f. and 3 stories; definitely unique with some wood shingled siding and a rustic, western lodge kind of feel to it. It is at a highpoint on the ridge so you feel on top of the world when you stay here. Wind gusts during storms can get over 100 mph and the snow tends to come down sideways in the winter when it does. 5+ feet of snow from a storm is not unheard of...2 to 3 feet is common. We hope you like fresh powder!
The landscape is not as extreme as the weather can be but definitely dramatic in its own right showcasing gigantic granite boulders standing guard with pine and fur trees around the perimeter of the grounds making one wonder if the Lord of the Rings trilogy was really shot in New Zealand or here at Heavenly. It can be a magical place for kids and adults where wildlife is often seen around the house during the day and evening hours such as squirrels and blue birds, coyotes and bears, hawks, and even mountain lions.
Your vacation getaway has three separate private entrances, one for each floor. The first floor entrance is only seven steps up from where you can park your car or truck in a reserved spot for the owner 10 feet from the property at the base of the stairs. Additional parking spots run down the slope from the building no more than 25 to 50 feet from entrance. Be advised in looking at other Tahoe properties up here that do not offer this convenience as many do not have enough parking spots or require several flights of stairs to reach the desired shelter.
As you enter the first floor you will have a mud/utility room for skis/boards/boots and a new 2011 HE washer and dryer to throw your clothes into for convenient laundering. A master bedroom with king bed is also on the first floor with a private bath/shower/tub. There is a 42" HDTV, Surround sound stereo and DVD player with a convertible queen sofa/futon.
As you ascend the Escher like stairs to the second floor you will discover two bedrooms and a shared bathroom off the kitchen and dining area. To the left is the Johnny Depp bedroom with a king bed and a small TV/VCR. To the right is the Jessica Alba bedroom with a queen bed and overstuffed chair for those who still like to cuddle up with a good book or loved one. If you wish to entertain for a dinner party, the second floor table seats 6 and the third floor can seat up to 13 casually. New place settings for 13 people along with restocked wine and cocktail glasses have been purchased in 2011 so when it snows, you can have a dinner party in rather than venture out in a storm and the fun never misses a beat. Child safe plastic dishes and drink cups also stocked in cabinets. There is another stairway/exit from the second floor with amazing views of the lake. If you have to smoke, please go just outside any of the floors' entrances. Most of them provide cover and this keeps the house smelling fresh and all of us breathing better, especially at the high altitude of approximately 7,500 feet (1,500 feet above the lake to the NW and 3,000 feet above the valley to the SE).
The third floor is the mind's eye of the house with panoramic views of Lake Tahoe, Chimney Rock, Carson Valley and Nevada Woods at Heavenly. 13' tall ceilings with exposed wood beams, exotic teak and purple heart wood accents, and a large living space of 25' by 25' surround the wetbar and gaming/dining table. A sleeping loft highlights the room overhead with more Escher-like stairs leading up to it and the king bed with Alpaca bed cover will truly make you feel like you've found a royal retreat. A recently purchased posh, comfortable and surprisingly supportive wrap around couch will caress sore muscles after the skiing, hiking or other fun activities. Enjoy the sunsets out the windows or on the decks overlooking the lake with a glass of wine or bourbon. Kids might prefer their milk or juice but don't forget to drink plenty of water too and there's a humidifier for anyone that is not used to the dry Sierra air. A new 50" HDTV and entertainment center with computer and WiFi keep you connected with sports, news, and your favorite shows. A day bed can be converted and an extra futon can be thrown down on the living room floor to sleep up to 13 people total throughout the house. Numerologists see 13 as a lucky number. We simply see it as the maximum capacity allowed for guests to rent our place comfortably.
