The location is best suited for Summer travel as we found out. The wind was absolutely howling the entire 10 days we were there making the Lanai almost unusable. Not the owners fault obviously but we thought you should be aware. The "Balcony over Hauula " was a tad disappointing. The Wi-Fi which was promised might have worked 3 days out of 9. Internet is important as a lot of people do business and important e-mails. The apartment could be best described as " under maintained" The potlights, bathroom fixtures and fans are extremely rusty and gross. The bathroom has no fan. The drywall had holes poorly patched and two walls were soaking wet with I'm sure a ton of mould in them. My fan in the master was wobbling to the point it could not be used and my air conditioner self destructed with water pouring in the room. The bulb in the microwave was dead and we advised you and it was never replaced. The ice maker in the fridge did not work. The covers for the hot tubs are completely worn out and destroyed, and actually useless at keeping the heat in FYI. Its cheap not to have propane or Nat gas BBQ's and have to ask your guests to go buy charcoal and lighter fluid. A major complaint of mine was the cheap $ 5 Walmart furniture on the "Balcony" Its such a beautiful space, why skimp on cheap dirty plastic furniture with no cushions? Your people were friendly and helpful and you did attend to issues promptly, however we won't be back. I am a landlord too and some of these issues I would not tolerate. Its bad for businessOwner response: We thank these guests for staying with us, and for taking the time to leave us some feedback. The WiFi was difficult during their stay as we were upgrading our entire system to a brand-new WiFi high-speed internet system. With our new access points and antennas, we have walked to the corners of our entire property and have been able to access internet, and even chat via Skype. We apologize for any inconvenience this caused them. The family staying here now loves the fans and has no issues with them, as they have four children staying there as well. The air-conditioning leaked once due to a bent drain pipe that was repaired and has not leaked again. We are actually in the process of renovating the entire suite, but can only do it in-between guests at this time. They did not mention that we had just finished painting one room and the ceiling a couple of days before their arrival. We are also in the process of replacing the bathroom fixtures and repainting the entire suite as well, to avoid these types of complaints. The drywall the guest mentioned was indeed wet, as we needed to do some work in the wall and literally patched up the hole an hour before their arrival, so there wasn't a huge hole there upon their arrival. I find it completely misleading and inconsiderate, especially as a landlord themselves, to claim their is tons of mold in the wall without even asking us what had happened there. We have been renting our property for 11 years now, and never ONCE have we had an accident there. The driveway may not be the biggest but it is certainly accessible and ample enough to fit large SUV there, as guests have had in the past. We will be replacing the microwave over the stove as well due to the light bulb not working. Unfortunately, it will cost more for us to replace the bulb in the digital read-out than to replace it with a brand-new microwave altogether. We do not advertise this suite comes with an icemaker. The "$5 Walmart furniture" he is referring to is pretty expensive furniture from Home Depot. We cannot use metal items on the lanai due to the sea spray, and we do not provide outdoor cushions due to loss of previous cushions we had out there. The wind has been howling all over the island, including in Honolulu where some of our employees live. They stated the wind was worse in Honolulu. We do our very best to bend over for our guests and to ensure they enjoy their stay with us, but there are some guests that just can't be pleased.

We have just returned from a 10 day stay in Hauula. We truly enjoyed our stat at this location. We were close to the PCC, Northshore, Waikki, and freeway access. The house itself was clean and had all the amenities that were needed for our stay. Otiliani was so friendly and told us funny stories about the island. She also helps to find activities, good beaces, grocery stores and so much more. Most of all we are going to miss our beautiful sunrises on our lania. Mahalo nui loa.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing.
Owner response: Aloha Linda, We appreciate your warm compliments about us and thank you for choosing to stay with us on the North Shore! We hope you all enjoyed your stay and look forward to having you as our guests on your future visit to the island. Mahalo nui loa and with much aloha, Hale Ko'olau Staff

If you are looking for a nice quite get away this is the place to go. Lanai Hauula customer service was perfect, the location was perfect, and the house was very comfortable. My dream vacation was to wake up in the morning and not have to pack up my 2 & 5 year old kids and drive to a beach or be around a ton of tourist. This location made my dream come true. Yes we were right on the beach. The view, comfort and friendly people made this vacation perfect. Just a short walk to the store for food and you could stay there for the entire vacation. The only things that kept this location from being perfect was the rooster (if you don't like to wake up that early). Thank you for your hospitality and I know where we will be staying next time we are in town!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+.
Owner response: Mahalo nui loa for staying with us at our Hau'ula Lanai suite! We enjoyed having you all with us and look forward to hosting you all on your next trip to the North Shore. Being out of the city, roosters are a common sight to see and hear out on the North Shore. But, at the very least, they really do make it feel like you are "away from it all."
