House was really nice except couple things me and my friends didn't like. You can clearly here what your neibours do in one of the rooms. When several people take shower one after another you gonna see the entire lake on the floor, no matter what you do with the shower curtain. We needed apartment just to sleep so it worked out great! The owner even gave us his parking spot, that was very nice of him.

Great location, not as fancy as it appears in the VRBO ads. When we arrived we went through the side garden entrance. It looked a bit "sketchy". Did not know which door to go into and the key fit the wrong door! The flat itself has a lot of character and it's large. The beds were comfortable. There is no outside sitting area which is too bad. The "garden area" was not useable at all. So, we enjoyed it but were disappointed that there was no outside area and it wasn't as "nice" as the pictures depicted.

Flat was neat and clean. Great location close to transport. Only problem was the shower, we couldn't get it to work.

Charming and convenient to Hayes Valley and Filmore District shopping. We walked everywhere and found many wonderful shops and eateries. Very comfortable beds, but if you're picky about pillows, you may want to bring your own. A little noisy, but that's part of city life. We had a wonderful time and the owners were available should we need them. Would stay here again!

Strong points: Location, just down the street from the Painted Ladies, near Alamo Square, and close to other restaurants, cafes, etc. Also in a beautiful traditional building, especially the dining table in the living room in the circular windows, just what one would hope and expect from a historic residence in San Francisco. The larger beds were very comfortable (we didn't use the single bedroom). Would strongly recommend the Alamo Square Seafood Grill just a couple of blocks away, a lovely neighborhood restaurant that was exceptional and reasonably priced. Weak points: While the unit was strong on architectural details, the decoration was minimal and sparse, comprising a few used books and silk flowers on some bookshelves in one of the bedrooms, a few mediocre pictures here and there, for example. I think the owners, by skimping on decoration, are missing an opportunity to make the unit really special for guests. Also, in the bathroom, there were no handles on the shower faucets, they were difficult to use, and basically the incomplete pieces that were there would fall off in your hand if you weren't careful. I expect much more than this from any VRBO rental or hotel accommodation. There were few tourist information materials available in the unit, just some past issues of restaurant magazines and used maps from previous guests tucked away in a coffee table drawer. I choose to stay in VRBO properties because their unique nature compares positively to four and sometimes five star hotels in the area, often for a less expensive price. In the case of this unit, the little touches were missing, so the comparison was not as strong when considering other available hotel deals online.

Manager response: Thanks for your review. We appreciate your confirmation of our beautiful 110 year old, the comfort you enjoyed and confirmation of our excellent location Your comments on the art certainly prove that art is a very personal experience. A great deal of the art on the walls is original water colors done by Dr. Janet Stafford, the house owner. Three guests have actually requested a way to purchase Dr Stafford' art and she has received city honors for her work The problem with the shower handles has been repaired ( thanks for letting us know) and guest information has been refurbished( this stuff has a tendency to walk away) Hope to have you as a guest again in the future Thaks again for the feedback Marilyn Blaustein
Great Place to enjoy SF with family and friends.
Great Place to enjoy SF with family and friends.
First of all Marilyn is very good with information and very helpful with anything we needed. The place is very well taken care of. The location of this place is very close to anything like bars, restaurants and down the street from the park, The quality of the apartment made me appreciate the ways houses were built back in the 1900's which was really unprecedented. The house was very comfortable and area was peaceful. I recommend this place for Families or groups of friends to enjoy an amazing time in the Bay Area. Parking wasn't very difficult if you get there around 3pm or so, we were able to find a spot right by the door. have fun if you book this spot, you won't regret it.

I stayed here for several days while attending a conference in SF. The Edwardian Flat was a wonderful property- historic, unique, and quite comfortable. The property owner was also quite attentive and helpful. I recommend it highly!

SAN FRANCISCO WEDDING
SAN FRANCISCO WEDDING
We had a great time staying at this property when we came to San Francisco for our nephew's wedding. There was room for my husband, myself, my sister-in-law and our 2 adult sons, plus we cooked and entertained the wedding party a couple of nights. The location was tremendous and we strolled down to Alamo Square and shopped at the Farmer's Market on Sunday morning. The flat is in a Victorian and is a classic...kind of funky and lots of fun!
