Location: Northport, Northwest, Michigan, USA (36 miles N of Traverse City, 17 miles N Suttons Bay,) View Map
Accommodations: Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6-8)
Keywords: Lake front cottage
Spend a week relaxing on the shores of Grand Traverse Bay while watching the waves roll in from Lake Michigan. Our fully furnished home is located at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, One mile from Grand Traverse Lighthouse and Museum. We are one of the few cottage rentals with a view of both bodies of majestic waters. Enjoy the calmer waters of GTB while watching freighters make their away around the Tip of the Leelanau Penninsula to/from Chicago to the Straits of Mackinaw.
This 1250 square foot three bedroom with oak flooring; two full bath cottage has ceramic floors in the kitchen, laundry, halls and bathrooms with granite counter tops in kitchen and baths.
Settle down in the oak floored dining room and living room while watching the flames dance in the gas log fireplace. You can grill on the deck while listening to the waves as they gently slap against the beach.
The front of the house has two sets of patio doors so you can sit inside and watch passing boaters on the Bay and freighters on the Great Lakes while sipping your AM coffee and viewing spectacular sunrises over the Bay. There is 85 feet of private beach. Beach is sand with small rocks.. The Great Lakes make the beach variable daily. We suggest watershoes for swimming in Northern Michigan as lake bottom is rocky. Beach and bottom varies as the sands shift daily.
The master bedroom is furnished with a queen size bed, dresser, futon and TV on all oak floors. The attached master bath has new granite and double sinks and ceramic flooring to accomodate the tub/shower. The second and third bedrooms have queen size beds with dressers with oak flooring.
The smoke-free house is located on a paved road in a private association which has a tennis and basketball courts, three parks, excellent walking beaches and hiking trails.
Bikes and a canoe with paddles are provided to let you experience your serene surroundings, or sit shoreside and enjoy the fire pit while watching the moonbeams glisten across the Bay.
You are within 17 miles of the Leelanau Sands Casino, 36 miles from plenty of shopping in Traverse City. Local towns of Suttons Bay and Leland are a short 20 minute drive from your retreat.
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park and Shoreline are just a 45 minute drive to view the "Most Beautiful Place in America" per Good Morning America's 2011 viewers poll. Enjoy the quaint little bayside Village of Glen Arbor which is located just a few miles from the Dunes. Schedule a day at the Spas of the Homestead before you journey back to the Sunrise Side of the Leelanau Penninsula.
There are 20+ wineries located on the peninsula which have daily wine tasting for your pleasure. There is a FANTASTIC marina in Northport to launch your boat for all water activities. The Inland Seas Educational Sailing Boat is located in Suttons Bay.
You can golf at the Leelanau Club of Bahl Farms. Go bird watching at the newly created bird santuary. Enjoy Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park on a day trip to the sunset shore of the peninsula. Take a hot air balloon ride out of Traverse City! Visit the Manitou Islands, sale the Tall Ship Manitou sailing ship which also is a B&B and located in Traverse City.

What can i say!!! You know i am in love with this place!!! My husband and i rented in June 2010 and my mom and myself and a friend came back in Sept!! You will not find better hosts anywhere in the U.S. than Dave & Gloria!!! They go out of their way to make sure your stay is outstanding!!! The cottage is very neat & clean and the decorations are beautiful. One thing that is very important to us is the furniture is very nice and comfortable!!! The views are just soooooo beautiful!!!!! You are right on the water!!! In a peaceful and quiet subdivision in the woods!!!! Lots of wildlife!!! If you want a great breakfast place to eat go to the Treasure Chest in Northport. On your left if you are leaving the cottage going to town!!! Tell Donna Cindy from Ky said hello!!!! Can't wait to come back in June 2011 !!!

11-5-7, 2004 As usual, Matt & I had a great time staying at the cottage. This is our third "Fall Getaway" in a row. This time, we brought our friends Stephanie & Jason to see how enjoyable the cottage is! Last night, we had a bonfire on the beach. It was really nice. We made hobodinners and wrapped them in tinfoil, and cookedn them on the fire. We burned the food, but a good time was had by all. We'll be back again next year!! Sarah & Matt Steph & Jason

10-24-03 What a beautiful weekend it was. This is our second year coming here and we had a wonderful time, once again. Friday, we went and picked out lots of goodies at the grocery store. We ate a warm supper and played scrabble in front of the fire. Saturday, we went for a hike in the state forest and managed to hike all the way to the water!! It was a warm, sunny day, perfect. Today is our last day - we hae to leave. We will stop in Traverse City on our way out and do a little sightseeing before we go home. Matt & I had a great, quiet weekend, and we can't wait to cmoe back. Sarah & Matt

July 18-25, 2004 We planned our vacation to find a relaxing getaway and found it. We brought our 3 kids and 2 newfoundland dogs. All of them really enjoyed playing in the water. We rented a jet boat and took the dogs for pides. When the kids were tubing and felloff the dogs thought they had to rescue them. That's what they are trained to do --- water rescue. We all enjoyed our time but no we need to get back to the busy live. Tahnk you for sharing your home with us. It made the stay really nice. Also enjoyed the long walks & sunsets.

Sept 11-19, 2004 We really enjoyed our stay at the Cobb cottage. It was a great place to relax, which we really needed. Our dog Seamus just loved the beach and the yard. We were able to see many places on the penninsula. The water's great. Loved the hiking trails here and was nice to get to visit family up here and revisit all the familiar places. It's a great spot and such a cozy place to stay with lots of room & very great atmosphere. Seamus says: "woof" The Coleman Family
