This "cabin" on the Deschutes is NOT what it appears to be..............I rented this for a get-away with my Airforce son and daughter-in-law, thinking we would have a nice relaxing weekend in Bend. This house is OLD!!!!! Very Much in need of an update, kitchen is outdated, very badly outfitted, cupboards a mess with dished tossed in.....old cabinets badly in need of replacement, the dining room table sways back and forth, the coffee table is broken on one end. The stairs are very steep, need to be updated to current codes. The upstairs bedroom had a big pile of junk in the closet, and if you try to take a shower and wash dishes at the same time, you will get a temperature change with NO water pressure upstairs! The outside hot tub looks dirty all the time because of the water stains. The stairs to the river were broken so we weren't able to go down close to look, just stand up above and wish. The lock box by the front door was duck-taped on to keep it shut! And, we paid top dollar for this rental! I was SO disappointed!!! I paid top $ for a Fri-Sat- & Sunday nights here, the owner apparently thinks he is in the running with other properties like this, but I have NEVER rented such a dump! If you are used to living in a place that is old and run down, and you don't mind paying top dollar for it, go ahead, rent this!

We loved staying in this house for a long weekend. The location is magnificent, with great running/walking trails along the river just steps out the front door, and a great hot tub overlooking the river and a view of the stars above. The location is also ideal for going for a float, as you can put in a few hundred yards from the house, and shuttle a car just four miles away. And aside from a few hundred yards of dirt road, it is an excellent location for cycling. Our dog also loved the place, as he had a great trail for sniffing and two nearby beaches for swimming. The house is a bit older, but if you're spending that much time in the house you're doing it wrong. And the steps are fine (even our dog thought that review was being picky). There is a big TV with HBO, an uber-comfortable master bedroom overlooking the river, and a great deck with BBQ. Only downside is it is a bit outside of town. This was the third house we have rented Bend, and it was certainly our favorite.

Very cozy and in a great location. Steps away from the forest and the Deschutes, with a great hot tub to relax in. Interactions with Peter were professional, with quick response times. We had a great visit and the house was the perfect size for our group of 5 plus dog. Thanks again!

We were disappointed in this place. From the house to the water, the land goes out about 80 feet, and then drops straight down about 25 feet. There are some wooden steps clinging to the vertical face, but they lead to a broken, unusable "boat dock." You have to walk quite a ways to get to a place where you can safely access the water. Inside the house, the stairs up to the second storey are dangerously steep. Even our dogs were afraid to come down them. Also, some "deferred maintenance" needs attention -- such as a wobbly dining table; a silverware drawer that falls out if you're not careful; and a torn, dirty shower curtain. And when we left, all our stuff smelled smoky and musty. On the positive side, there are some pleasant trails that take off right from the property. In some spots along the trail you can see the river, and it is quite beautiful. Also, the location is peaceful and quiet.

Had a great time. Coming in after a day of sledding and skiing to a hot tub and roaring fire in the stove made it perfect. Sledding and trails right out the fron door were a bonus. You felt somewhat remote, but still had houses near by. Would like to go in the summer next.

Stayed for almost a week late July. Really enjoyed the solitude! Accomodations are first class with lots of room to spread out and relax. Lots to see and do with its central location. Fishing right in front of the house was terrific. Added plus was that the owner, Peter, was always available on his phone to answer any questions. Highly recommended!!

My three friends and I used the Cabin as a base camp for a four day fishing trip. The accomodations were fantastic. The rooms were comfortable, the common area was relaxing and the hot tub was great after a long, cold day wading in the rivers. The kitchen facilities were also very nice and we basically cooked all meals except lunch at the Cabin. I recommend staying here. Only drawback is it is about 10-15 minutes from the paved roads, but it is nice to be out on the river when you come home at night. Nothing finer than sitting on the lower deck 5 feet off the river, watching the sun go down.

We had a fantastic time. We treated our parents to vacation and everyone loved the house. It was great to use the hot tub in the snow, especially after a day of skiing. Thank you so much for the wonderful weekend.

This is a great place to stay! It's very comfortable, and was very clean and supplied with nice sheets, towels, etc. The kitchen is roomy and has great cookware, a nice microwave, dishes, etc. The place has satellite TV, many HBO channels, a DVD/CD player, etc. The furniture is nice -- leather couch, a recliner, nice tables, etc. Wood was well-stocked for use in the woodstove. The hot tub was AMAZING and we really enjoyed using it during the snowstorm (watch out for falling chunks of snow from the pine tree above!). The cabin's location is amazing -- right on the river and at the edge of the small, quiet community -- you can snowshoe or hike in beautiful scenery right from the cabin door. We were here in winter but it seems like it'd be great in summer as well. Peter was excellent to deal with -- fair and flexible and friendly. Highly recommended. Thanks Peter!

Stayed for a week at the end of July and loved it. Sitting on the deck watching the sun go down in the evenings was the perfect way to get away for us. I'd gladly stay here again and hope to do so soon.

We needed to get away from the city around the 4th of July - fireworks really upset our dog, Zoot. We spent five nights here, and it was very quiet, beautiful and relaxing. The place is extremely comfortable (the big comfy leather couch was great for plopping down and watching a movie, and the king size bed was heavenly). We loved having three decks to choose from - our favorite was the one out by the river. We really enjoyed hiking on the trails nearby. We love to cook and the kitchen was very well-equipped. (Calphalon cookware, sharp knives, nice grill on the deck, nice dishwasher - even martini glasses and tiki ware). It was so nice there that we parked the first day and didn't leave at all until we had to make a beer run on the fourth day)....highly recommended -- we plan on returning when we can. Zoot had a great time, too.

Welcome and have a great time in sunny Central Oregon. If you have any questions about what to do in Bend a good resource is visitbend dot com Quail Run for 18 holes of great affordable golf is nearby (7 miles) along with the higher priced courses (3) at Sunriver and Crosswater. 21 miles to skiing at Mt. Bachelor as well as fishing right out the door for brown trout May to October with world class fly fishing year round 5 minutes away at Fall River and 1.5 hrs north at Warm Springs on Big Deschutes. Many gorgeous lakes including Crane Prairie, Cultus, Wickiup, Lava, Elk, Hosmer and others are about 30 mins driving time for the big whoppers. Mountain biking is close and extensive. Dogs have a lot of fun here. Thanks and have a great stay if you are renting, Peter.
