We live in Florida and the moment we arrived we began soaking in the cool mountain air... Still can't get enough of this 70 degree weather in August. We climbed the Max Patch Bald and enjoyed the hiking trails along the ridges. We also fished in Spring Creek, Meadow Fork Creek and Shut-In Creek. Every creek supplied us with fresh trout for dinner(the rainbows responded best to #18 bead head nymph). We enjoyed the rustic atmosphere of staying in a log cabin. The furniture and decorations were very comfortable and welcoming. Having smores every evening at the campfire made it feel like camping yet, we were steps away from a comfortable bed and full amenities. Overall, we enjoyed being able to spread out in the cabin and lounge comfortably anywhere. Thank you for opening this place to us. We enoyed ourselves thoroughly.

We had a great time staying here. We had the feeling of being in a log cabin with a modern twist. We can all say that you take great care of this house! The beds were very comfortable, the showers were great, and the property is beautiful. We loved driving around to surrounding areas(Hot Springs, Asheville, etc...) to explore. Thanks for a great stay! Hope to visit again in the future.

I wanted to thank you for arranging the Rebekahs Cabin for us last week. We just arrived back from our vacation this week. We truly loved the cabin and property. The setting was just beautiful and we would love to come back in the future. The owner was so pleasant and nice to talk to. My family really appreciated the fire pit he made and it worked out great.

My husband and I lead a very hectic life. The last time we got away for a vacation was over 3 years ago. We decided, spur of the moment, to finally stop and "smell some roses"...and WOW...we did!! Although in November, there were no roses blooming to actually smell....everything else about the location made up for it. The sound of the bubbling brook way down in front...the smell of the grass and trees...the pasture with the cows way across the road. We felt like we had stepped back in time. The house is absolutely amazing. Huge upstairs with 2 bedrooms and a large loft area, 3 full baths (including walk in his and hers showers with slate floors in the downstairs bath)..gas fireplace in the Livingroom, and wood burning fireplace in the adjoining den (separated by french doors). Completely modern kitchen and fully furnished with every kitchen appliance, dishes, cookware, etc. Our only disappointment is we couldn't stay longer!! Hiking, hot-tubbing at the Hot Springs Resort, a day visit to Asheville...all squeezed in 3 1/2 short days. Absolutely PERFECT!!

Owner response: Thank you, we are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Rebekah's Place. We look forward to having you as our guest again.

Some of us were missing the camping activities of hiking, and so, not but twenty-five minutes drive from the rental cabin is ‘Max Patch’, a famous local ‘bald’ with many hiking trails to its top and in the surrounding forests. After a short, but steadily rising, hike from the parking lot, some of us set down our camping chairs in the grass and enjoyed the magnificent 360 degree view which included the mountain campsite on the Blue Ridge Parkway where we were going to camp that weekend. After returning from the Max Patch afternoon hike (making it back to the parking lot just as it started to rain), we headed back to the cabin and dinner (and the short thunderstorm). We broke up into group activities, some taking pictures on the large grass lawn surrounded by forests on two sides (and a spring coming down the mountainside and joining a creek that fronts the property and follows the main road, as well as feeding a sizable and picturesque fishing pond) while others played a game of croquet (mountain-version on a gently rolling lawn. With a bathroom for each of the bedrooms, there was never a line at the bathrooms (unlike the campground bathrooms) and the view from the bathroom windows provided such a contrast to the typical windowless bathrooms of many rentals. With all the owner-provided bathroom and kitchen supplies, many of the supplies we had packed for the camping trip were unused and now still available for the next camping trip. After a wonderful weekend with such close friends I can hardly describe it as a back-up plan to camping. It is truly a first-rate weekend vacation spot standing on its own merits providing all the comforts of home or hotel as well as the camping atmosphere, such as the campfires (the two fireplaces), the hiking (Max Patch and along the Laurel River in Hot Springs, nine miles away), and of course the tremendous vistas of the beautiful mountains of western NC from every cabin window and every porch and deck. My wife and I have stayed in numerous rental cabins over the years, all in the mountains, some famous places, some not discovered but soon-to-be-famous when discovered. It has been said before that the wise save the best of anything for last and in this case that is so true. The last cabin was by far the best yet. We all look forward to many more visits to Rebekah’s Cabin, my wife and I alone and as a group with our life-long friends. Luckily (pun intended), the best of both worlds exists at Rebekah’s Cabin!

After dinner we retired to the living room to watch a favorite DVD on the new and very large flat-screen TV that was wall-mounted above the largest of two fireplaces. Sitting on two sofas and two armchairs, everyone could see the movie with ease. In the evenings, some of us would play board games (provided by the owners) at the large dining room table. There was also a game table upstairs on the left-side overlooking the living room. I keep describing the ‘rooms’ when actually the downstairs consists of a truly ‘Great Room’ (with the largest of the two fireplaces) with the dining room and kitchen as extensions of the ‘great room’. There is a large bathroom downstairs (with a two-person granite shower and a free-standing tub) and a laundry room with full size washer and dryer and large wash-tub style sink. The laundry room has its own door that can be closed to keep in the ‘laundry’ noise, a foyer with the stairs to the second floor, and an exit outdoors to the side deck. Also downstairs is another living room with the second fireplace and a sleeping sofa where one couple slept. That room had double French doors closing it off from the great room, a second door exiting outside to the front porch ( a nice place for late-night star-gazing before bed or for an early morning time of reading or visiting), and a third door exiting into the foyer with the stairs to the second floor and a semi-private hall leading to the downstairs bathroom (eliminating the requirement of walking through the great room filled with late-night TV watchers in your pajamas). “Cabin is also somewhat a misnomer when describing this rental. While technically correct, it is really one original cabin (which is the second living room with the second fireplace that also functions as the third bedroom) that has been added on to (on two sides and then a second floor over it all). I think of it more as a truly magnificent mountain home with original and humble cabin roots. (Cont...)

A month ago my wife began preparing with a life-long friend, our first camping trip of the year. Soon a second life-long friend and family were invited. The stage was set. Now, there were three families who had known each other for thirty years and who had all camped together over that same time period and who were looking forward to camping together on the first weekend of the season at one of the best campsites forty-five minutes from downtown Asheville, NC. Alas, the weather being what it is in springtime here in the mountains of western North Carolina, contingency plans need to be made. So, when thunderstorms with lightning, heavy rains, and hail were forecast for that weekend and the percentages increased daily as the weekend drew near, a back-up plan was indeed needed. Fortunately, one of the friends knew of a rental cabin available in the mountains, also forty-five minutes from downtown Asheville, only to the north. And so, that Friday, three of the party of eight friends arrived at the cabin in small-town Luck, NC. By small town I mean one of those rural towns where the ‘arriving’ and ‘leaving’ signs are both on the same post! The cabin sits in a quiet valley of farms nestled away among heavily-forested and fairly steep mountains on both sides. We were able to drive right up to the covered back porch and unload our vehicles without anything getting wet. When the rains and lightning and the afternoon thunderstorms arrived each day we were able to enjoy the show from the covered front porch sitting in chairs provided by the owners along with some of our own. Some of us read on the porch while others visited or watched the birds. A robin had a nest of babies over the beam of the porch roof while a little finch had its nest in one of the bushes in front of the pond. Both birds could be seen delivering squirming delicacies to their babies all day long while the barn swallows flew by, dining ‘a la fresco’ on the flying insects. There was also a partly-covered deck off the side of the cabin which allowed us to barbeque some of our meals on the owner-provided new red barbeque even with the rain. The other meals were prepared inside in the long and spacious kitchen employing all the provided conveniences of any modern kitchen. Our wonderful meals were enjoyed at the banquet-size table in the dining room off the kitchen, sitting on a long bench on one side and chairs on the other. Even with eight of us there was room to spare. (Cont...)

We recently stayed at Rebekah's cabin and the accomodations were beautiful, clean and luxurious. The cabin has a huge kitchen and large great room perfect for family gatherings. The bedrooms and bathrooms were also very roomy. I loved the huge stone shower in the downstairs bathroom. The view of the mountains from the front porch is breathtaking. Max Patch is only a 30 minutes drive from the cabin where we enjoyed magnificent views and hiking. A very cute country store close by in case you forget something at home. We highly recommend Rebekah's cabin for a relaxing vacation and good time with friends and family.
