My husband, daughter, two dogs and I had an absolutely wonderful stay at this house in Boothbay Harbor. We wanted to get away for the new year and we are so happy we found this place. The hosts met us when we arrived and gave us a full tour. The house is STUNNING. Everything we needed was provided. The kitchen is state of the art, living room cozy with a great TV and surround sound, bedrooms are spacious (the master bedroom bed was extremely comfortable), wifi, fireplace, hot tub was an added plus (even when it was snowing!), beautiful views and the decor is impeccable. Though we were there in the off season the town was very cute and we enjoyed walking downtown and eating at McSeagulls and the Thistle Inn. We went sledding with our daughter and even enjoyed a mini fireworks :) It was a perfect few days...we hated to go home :( I’ve already started planning our next visit for this summer!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just as past reviewers stated, this property is wonderful in every sense. It's exactly as pictured, immaculately clean, roomy, with amenities to make life easy and comfortable. Eating in the dining room overlooking Mill Cove makes you feel it's your own private waterfront restaurant. The hosts were so gracious and treated us like honored guests, rather than renters. Downtown BBH is a 5 minute walk away with shops, eateries and marinas. Can't recommend this property highly enough. This was our 1st VRBO rental and we hit the jackpot!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My sister gave me the task of finding her a house in Boothbay Harbor. She and I have stayed a few times in Boothbay and I fell in love with the place instantly. Our usual rental had been sold so when it came to her wanting to take my brother for his birthday, I had to start searching. My sis had always demanded an ocean view. When I found Mill Cove on the internet I knew it was exactly what I would like and therefore perfect for my sister and brother, sadly I was unable to join them due to family commitments. But the owners and the place couldn't have been more perfect. They have both come back delighted with our find. They couldn't fault the location , the accomodation or the warmth and kindness of the owners. So you could say it was a prayer answered. I would say no one could not like Mill Cove or the whole package. I just hope my generous sister will be able to take me one day!!! My sister would give a review but she doesn't even know how to turn a computer on!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My family and I had such a wonderful week at this gorgeous property. This house is clean and very well equipped. The grounds and flower gardens are really beautiful we enjoyed sitting on the dock each day. We all took advantage of the kayaks, we were lucky enough to see a seal swimming in the harbor. We also had 3 bald eagle sightings from the dock, thrilling to see. It was nice being within walking distance to town, parking in Boothbay can be a problem. Our adult children would walk in each day for breakfast and shopping. Do not miss the Harbor Cruise and we also took the Classic Rock Cruise. Really beautiful seeing the Maine coast line from the water. I would highly recommend this house and I thank Karen and Alden for sharing this fantastic property with us. P.S. 7 days of perfect weatherRecommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just back from spending a wonderful week on Mill Cove. The home and grounds were breathtakingly beautiful. The house is artistic and spacious and the perennial flower beds gorgeous. Took many opportunities to use the kayaks on the tranquil coves. Town is so close we never used our car. Can't say enough, we were so sad to leave!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family of 9, including 3 Grandchildren, spent a fun filled week at this beautiful home in July. The kitchen/dining area was the hotbed of activity in the mornings and late afternoons. During the day we would be on a harbor cruise, lobster haul, fishing or swimming. The evenings would find us gathered on the large deck, by the floating dock or at the fire pit roasting marshmallows. There is something for everyone in Boothbay Harbor and the week went by all too quickly. The house easily accommodated our family and their extensive personal belongings. The gardens are meticulously cared for by Alden and Karen which made the views from the deck even more beautiful. The kitchen was the prep center for several large seafood dinners and a birthday party. We only wish that we could spend even more time here.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers.

We just returned from a week at this wonderful property. The listing is accurate but doesn't fully convey the spaciousness of the house or the flow from house to gardens. It's better than it looks! The owner graciously and fully answered multiple questions from me prior to our arrival, greeted us and showed us around upon arrival, and was available by phone throughtout our stay for any questions or issues. A reference binder with information on local attractions, restaurants, and other points of interest was readily available. We were greeted with chilled wine, floral arrangements from the flower beds, bags of ice (in addition to the ice maker) and fruit from the gardens. The kitchen is fully equipped (including cook books) and a pleasure to be in. The Bosch washer and dryer handled large loads. The house has every appliance you could possibly want and every appliance worked as intended. There is a large dog bed and a large dog crate, both in excellent condition. Towels were thick and fluffy and linens looked brand new. There are books, kayaks, cards and poker chips. A large grocery store is 0.6 miles from the house. The center of town is 3 blocks from the house. If you are looking for a relaxing vacation with plenty of room, or a place to use as a central base for broader sightseeing, this is the place!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at this beautiful property for three weeks in June 2012, and it was our best family vacation ever. We traveled with our two young daughters (ages 5 and 8) and our dog, and everyone had a fantastic time. The property gives you everything you need -- total relaxation and access to as many fun adventures as you want. The property description and photos are very accurate. The house is stunning -- extremely clean, flowers in every room, a welcoming bottle of wine, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable. We felt right at home from the start. The gourmet kitchen was a real treat. We also loved the living room fireplace and the hot tub on the private deck off the master bedroom (plus, we woke up every day to the most amazing view). The gardens and yard are gorgeous. There are many comfortable seats to watch the tides or the wealth of ocean birds. We also loved kayaking around the cove. The yard has two fire pits, a hammock and a lovely pergola. You can have meals on the deck down by the water or on the large attached deck right off the kitchen. We grilled on the attached deck quite often. I doubt there is a better view in all of Maine. The town is really just a short walk away, and there is a lot to do. We went whale watching, had several delicious meals (Ports of Italy was the best). Check out The Ice Cream Factory, Red Cup Coffee, and Two Salty Dogs pet store too. Plus, Boothbay Harbor is the most dog-friendly town we have ever been to--there are water bowls out at almost every store front, and dogs are welcome inside many of the stores. Mocha-pup loved it. If you're up for a 5-10 minute drive, don't miss the Maine State Acquarium, Barrett Park (swimming), and the farmer's market on the Commons. We also loved Porter's Preserve, for a child-friendly hike in the woods. You won't ever be bored. The owners will go out of their way to make your stay absolutely perfect. They are natural hosts, and we felt incredibly welcome, right from the start. They were great about answering questions, suggesting activities for our family, and helping us feel at home. It really was the best family vacation we've ever taken. I can't praise the house, the hosts, the view, or the town enough. We didn't want to leave. Ever!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Wow, what a great find!!!!!!!!!!This house has everything you can imagine and in the perfect location. Fabulous kitchen, elegant living room, beautiful outside deck and patio right on the water. Did I mention the beautiful gardens. What a view. The master bedroom even has a hot tub on the deck overlooking the water. We spent a lot of time in there just soaking up the view. Plenty room for all of us. Just minutes to downtown. Loved not having to find a place to park. We could walk to everything. Boat, swim and fish without having to leave. Who would have thought. The kids loved it. Wow....can't wait to come back next year and stay longer. My daughter wants a Maine coast wedding!!!!!!!!!!! This is the perfect location.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, adventure seekers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind comments. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I have actually hosted three weddings on the property and provided the catering, music and the floral arrangements from our gardens. I would be very happy to have your daughters wedding here. Keep in touch.
