Northstar is a guest house on a farm with wonderful views across the gorge and up to the mountains. The sunsets are incredible every evening while looking across the gorge, but don't miss the alpen glow behind you on the mountains when they turn pink, then purple.
The quiet will have you sleeping soundly on your Tempurpedic mattresses under your fluffy down comforters. Sink into the hot tub after a day on the slopes and take a sauna to ease your muscles. You won't want to leave this relaxed atmosphere and easy lifestyle.
This is a doggie heaven with lots of fields to run in and a large enclosed area attached to a deep portale for lounging and sleeping under.
There are 2 queen size beds with tempurpedic mattresses, one is situated in the larger room, but is screened from the living area by 2 very large armoires and the other is in the bedroom, there is another queen bed outside under the deep portale with the great views.
The bathroom has a clawfoot bathtub and shower and plenty of closet space.
This property is surrounded by fields and fed by an acequia during the growing season on the small organic farm, where we grow lots of our own food. We also have bees to fertilize the fruit trees and all the surrounding area.
This was my house for 8 years until recently when I moved next door into the large house to care for my parents who also live here. The whole property is well cared for and very safe and quiet.
A recent recommendation :Thank you for sharing your charming cottage with us for Christmas. Our vacation was absolutely perfect. The weather was fabulous, the snow was the best in the nation and we had the slopes to ourselves. Our accommodations were so nice. We appreciated all the homey touches. We will recommend you highly!
Thanks,
Ann

Me, my husband and two pooches came calling on Moira in September after finding and renting her casita on VRBO. We have done this lots of times before. Sometimes the ads are a bit misleading, sometimes the pictures don't really show the whole story, occasionally there are some hidden issues (like the rental in Abiquiu that had a mile-long driveway that could only be traversed with a 4-wheel drive!). Moira's place is actually nicer than the pictures show. It's a lovely little home-cozy, well-appointed, restful, quiet, a salve for body and soul. It's a place where you can leave with the door not only unlocked but wide open and no one will bother anything. The view of the ski mountain from the back patio is remarkable and Moira and her parents are friendly, welcoming and lovely. If you need something, they are there, if not, you never know they are around. Moira raises bees, make sure you get some of her truly fabulous honey. (PS, Moira, the apples were great, too. :)) We took our motorcycles and had 7 straight days of unbelievable rides! Two paws up from Star and Cooper, thumbs up from me and the hubster. We'll be back!!Recommended for: Pet owners, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

You know how first impressions last a lifetime. Well this was the first time I have been to New Mexico and I must say I will gladly go back if I can stay here. We needed a stop over for a couple of nights on our way to the cabin in Colorado and this was the perfect place. Nice rural development where I think every one has a guest house. This abobe has lots of room (there were 4 adults). The views are breathtaking and the place is so laid back. The resident pups were friendly and very well behaved but if something was beyond the coyote fence they would let you know. Maura was great from first contact to last minute rental. If you have a problem with the main house being close don't. We were given the quick tour and left alone. Adobe was well stocked & beds were comfortable. It was great to explore the area with a home base like this. would highly recommend but I'm telling you right now, two nights at this place is not enough.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

I found this fantastic vacation home rental en route to Taos. There are few words to describe the charming, beautiful, clean, homey and positively wonderful experience I had at the North Star. If you have the opportunity the memories will stay for a long long long time. Not a day has gone by that I don't think back fondly on the entire experience of staying at North Star and skiing Taos and especially Kachina Peak. My 117th lift served skiing experience was truly a new summit. Thank you!Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2003
About the owner: I am a skier and a farmer and beekeeper, I love to be outside in the snow or planting seeds in the ground in the summer. I have 2 hounds who love to hike and ski with me.
Why the Owner Chose Arroyo Seco:
I moved here from Santa Fe because of the skiing which is the most challenging in the Rockies. I have a mature orchard and room to grow my own food. This area is really wonderful, quiet and the views are huge.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Northstar Farm is located between TSV and Taos, a perfect location and .8 of a mile from Arroyo Seco where the dining and art community is very local. And the views are amazing !
