Enjoy the conveniences of your own home with the relaxed atmosphere of vacation living. Our goal is to make The Lake House a wonderful retreat -- where we have taken all the work of traveling away from you.
The Lake House has all the essential amenities you need including a fully stocked kitchen with basic ingredients and condiments -- provided so you don’t have to pack them! We try to think of everything so you don’t have too.
Spring/Summer…. A great retreat for families, we have little boat traffic in the shallow water that is off our pier. Head out and do some exploring in your kayak/canoe or take advantage of nearby boat ramps for a day on the water. The lake has numerous sandbars, which make excellent stopping points for exploring or a picnic lunch.
Fall/Winter…Come home to a peaceful retreat after a day of excitement at one of the many indoor water parks at the Dells. Take it easy after mastering the nearby ski hills. Enjoy a quiet dinner by the fireplace and relax. We have a great location for ice fishing as well.
Location…The Lake House is located on Lake Wisconsin halfway between Madison and the Wisconsin Dells, approximately 1 ½ hours from Milwaukee, 3 hours from downtown Chicago, IL, and 4 hours from Minneapolis, MN.

We came up here to ski and spend time with friends and this house provided a warm, relaxing and comfortable place to do just that! The photos are accurate, although I don’t think they show just how open and light the space is. The layout works well for relaxing and socializing with the open kitchen/family room floor plan, and the “kids suite” is a great idea. We were with two other families and all the kids, ranging in age from 7yr. – 13yr. hung out together there which was great for them … and the adults! We cooked both nights and the kitchen had everything we needed. The weather was some of the coldest we’ve had this winter but we enjoyed the quiet and the icy beauty of the lake, and the fireplace made the house feel cozy. We appreciated being able to bring our dog and she enjoyed some nice long walks and settled in nicely. The owners were very accommodating and understanding and we really appreciated their hospitality. Looking forward to renting again!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, pet owners, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for your kind remarks. We look forward to having you stay at the Lake House again!

We had two families stay at this house and it was a perfect size. The owners are great people to work with and their home is clean, spacious, extremely well stocked. Everything from the nice sized rooms to the kitchen that has everything (and lots of it) to the nice large property made for a perfect week. It was the best weekend my family has had in years. We had plenty of room for my kids and grandkids. Everything we needed was there (linens, dishes, everything!) and it was like being at home (very clean) but with a great view, lake access and plenty of peace and quiet. I would suggest it for any season, and any reason!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and look forward to an opportunity to serve you in the future!

The Lake House was as expected from the pictures and description - very clean, spacious inside, well organized and laid-out. We stayed 9 days, and enjoyed the beautiful views of nature as seen from the house and strolling on the road. At the time we stayed, the area was very quiet as it was off-season. The loudest sounds were the geese gathering for migration and the local turkey flock which would amble across the road. We were looking for a place to chill and hang out, and our expectations were met. The large dining table allowed us to work puzzles or play Scrabble on one side, while leaving space for the four of us to eat on the other. The kitchen was well appointed, and in over a week of cooking meals and baking, there wasn't any appliance or tool I needed that wasn't provided. Clear instructions were left on how to use the wireless, cable tv, gaming setup etc.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. We hope to have the opportunity to see you again at the Lake House!

I came up to enjoy my last few weeks of freedom before leaving for my Army BCT. I brought two friends and we stayed for two days and a night, and had a fantastic time. The cabin interior is beautiful, tasteful, and highly functional. Natural light permeates the front living area, making for a peaceful place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee with the company of good friends. The rustic comfort of the lake is balanced perfectly with the modern amenities, making it possible to enjoy the peace and quiet, but still being able to enjoy a frozen pizza or two. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking to get away from the stresses of day-to-day life and relax. I will most defiantly come back again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: I am glad that you enjoyed your stay at the Lake House. Best wishes as you embark on a new endeavor. We hope to see you again!

About the owner: As the mother of five children and 1 Golden Retriever, it has always been a struggle to find nice, affordable vacation accommodations for our family. I love the convenience a vacation home offers -- everyone in one location (no separate hotel rooms), the option of cooking (for us frugal types), and a relaxing place to come back to after a day of exploring.
Why the Owner Chose Poynette:
Our family has fallen in love with Lake Wisconsin. It is conveniently located to Madison, the Wisconsin Dells, Cascade Ski Resort, and Chicago.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Newly remodeled, the Lake House caters to the needs of larger families and small groups. It sleeps 8 to 10 comfortably with a bunk room and 3 bathrooms. The home boasts hardwood floors and ceramic tile throughout; and features a modern kitchen with granite countertops and stainless steel appliances. It is perfect for family reunions, small church group/business retreats, and extended family accommodations during UW graduations, weddings, or other celebrations. I look forward to having the opportunity to serve you and your family.
