For us, Akureyri has always had a certain charm. It is a very beutiful, small city with restaurants, theater, cinemas, boutiqes ext. But it also has the vicinity to the beutiful nature and historical places. The possibilities are almost endless. Skiing in the winter and skating in skating hall, hiking in the nearby mountains. Sailing, whale whaching and fishing.
Akureyri is central in the north and it is ideal to travel from there to various places.

I highly recommend this apartment in Akureyri. Anna was wonderful host and went out of her way to meet us and bring us to the place. The apartment was only a few minutes from downtown, with all the restaurants, shopping and sightseeing. It's a great home base to checkout all the attractions in the north, we had a great time exploring around Myvatn, went to the Kaldi brewery, did a day trip to Grimsey, and much more. Pick up all your groceries at the Bonus supermarket (large pink drunken pig), just a short distance away.The washing machine was a big plus,the only drawback, no microwave or dryer, but you can't go wrong staying in this flat! Thanks Anna!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

Great location, Anna is a very nice host, she helped and accommodated me with my late arrival. The rate is also very reasonable. The nice feature is the washing machine. Some things that you need to note and maybe would be good to have upgraded is the bit outdated shower stall and also the lack of microwave in the kitchen for folks wanting to cook. The house is very clean and very cozy and comfortable otherwise. I'd recommend it.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.

About the owner: I live with my husband and three sons in Borgarfjörður. I´m a nurse and my husband works in the agricultural field. I like skiing, hiking and relaxing with my family.
Why the Owner Chose Akureyri:
We bougth the appartment sort of as our summer house. My husband and I have both stayed in Akureyri for some period of time and we like the place very much.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We like to go to Akureyri for skiing and enjoying the small city life, for example dining out, shopping and etc. In the summer we enjoy travelling to the nearby places such as Skagafjörður, Mývatn and Húsavík. We are also planning to go to the island of Grímsey one day.
