Our condo is #10-311. Third floor unit located conveniently close to main elevator, building stairwell is close by too.
The MOST important comfort item to confirm before you book at Kamaole Sands is the separate bedroom AC! This condo does have a separate bedroom AC, and a bedroom TV too.
The bedrooms in these condos are at the end of the hall, which is great for those that wish to stay up late in the living room/lanai as the separation is a good noise buffer. However an AC in the living room will not be enough to cool the bedroom & trade winds often cease at night.
This unit has the large Lanai, the perfect size for seating up to 8 people for dinner comfortably (bring out 2 chairs). Brazilian granite counters in the kitchen are unusually beautiful. There are tile floors through out the hallway and main areas of the condo. Tile is cool to the feet, and great for when you come back from the beach wet and sandy. Stack-able laundry is just off the hall in front of the 2nd bath.
High Speed Internet with free access to the WiFi. Use your streaming video services such as Netflix/Hulu/Amazon Prime through the TV.
Best recent additions - HDTV & Blu-ray DVD player. Also 4 inch memory foam mattress topper for the bed, and we have replaced the Living room futon with a fold-out couch we think is more comfortable.
Love the floor plan on this unit! The lanai is oriented northwest so the afternoon tropical sun does not beat down on you as it does in west facing Building #1, the only other Building with ocean views that are almost as comparable. Additional bonus, our lanai faces the sunsets! There is not much better than having dinner on the lanai and watching the sun go down behind the ocean.
The layout is also great for natural daytime cooling. During the afternoon the trade winds blow south along the coast, and if you leave the sliding glass door to the lanai open the wind gently blows into the living area and down the hall. Leave the front door open and just close the security screen door to create optimal airflow and truly savor that fresh island air.
We LOVE this vacation spot, and we live in a locale that's known for people visiting for vacations... Monterey Bay, California.
Southwest Maui is beyond vacation description summer or winter! In our opinion it is simply paradise.

We're contractually obliged to give resort operator 60 day notice during high season for a direct reservation (30 days otherwise). We must ask permission for direct rentals with less notice which may or may not be granted.

Additional guest fee of $10 for each person over age 17
All balances payable in US dollars
$200 deposit per week is required to secure your reservation, it will not be secured until your deposit is received which can be quickly dispatched via PayPal. (for long reservations, please call us)
Balance is due 60 days prior to arrival for standard/low season, 90 days prior for holiday/high season; reservation confirmation code is emailed to you after balance is cleared.

High season (12-1 through 4-15) we prefer 2 week bookings...

- Kamaole Sands has really solid walls, sounds from neighboring condos don't penetrate walls or ceilings but can be heard through open lanai sliders. Quiet time is 10PM to 8AM If housekeeper places lanai mat on lanai side of slider, it will knock the sliding screen off its track; have had very little success in retraining housekeepers to place the mat on the living room side of the threshold... c'est la vie Otherwise Housekeeping is your friend, call them if you experience any situations where their staff would be helpful!...moreless

Honolua Bay - Possibly best snorkeling in Maui, but the conditions are only right during the summer(in the winter there is amazing surf). If you snorkel and are staying in the summer this is a must-see. If you're a confident surfer and are staying in the winter I would recommend checking it out
Kamaole Beaches (I, II, and III) - local beaches, very long, great for sunsets
Makena Beach (Big Beach)
Kapalua Bay - Beautiful beach, great snorkeling. Sheltered bay with good water visibility
Wailea Beach (at Grand Wailea) - Gorgeous beach, great snorkeling at reef on southern end
Makena Landing - Great place for snorkeling, we see turtles here almost every time. Sheltered area with spectacular water visibility
Ulua beach - Very nice coral reef at north end of beach
Hana side of Maui - If you would like to see rainforests and waterfalls make sure to set aside a day to drive to Hana
Haleakala National Park - Tours go up to the peak of the dormant volcano for sunrise. For the adventurous some tours offer the option to bike down the volcano afterward
Kamaole Sands is right across the street form Kamaole III Beach Park, which has a long excellent skim/boogy boarding beach with awesome coral reefs at north and south end. Within 10-20 min drive of a dozen other spectacular coral reefs. Maui Dive shop has a free pamphlet on the best snorkel locations and any local dive shop will have affordable rental equipment. Nearby surfing instructors for novices or first timers. Very close to Wailea's world renowned golfing, five star restaurants, hotels and shopping.There is also a public walking path that connects all the beaches in Wailea, perfect for jogging or leisurely morning or evening strolls. Walking distance to Kihei boat launch for snorkeling/diving tours. Walking distance to several local bars, restaurants, and cafes. If you like mexican cuisine make sure you try Maui Tacos! Tennis courts, pool/hot tube area, ping pong table and gym located on the condo complex. Shallow kiddie pool area, and a second separate hot tube for adults only :] Beautifully landscaped lawns through out the complex and communal BBQ areas for guests. Several groceries and farmers markets in Kihei, and a Costco in Kahului (we make a big trip there and stock up on essentials).

About the owner: Don Heichel Soquel, California- -There are vacations you & your kids will recall; this is a good one. Careful, your brain has receptors that Maui fits perfectly. Those prone to addiction-type behaviors are particularly susceptible, this warning is waaay too late for us. Best from Don, Mona & now adult children Gregory & Monica! BTW, there is one thing under the sun all of us STILL agree on... 'Maui No Ka Oi' which translates Maui is the best!
Why the Owner Chose Kamaole Sands:
Southwest Maui is special even for Maui as the rainfall is less than 6 inches per year so you enjoy tropical warmth with less humidity & almost no flying insects. On our first trip, off to the nearby Grand Wailea Hotel to order sashimi & a beer at an outside table overlooking the ocean and reclined to watch the waves & drink... 5 minutes later had yet to encounter a fly with raw fish sitting on my plate. Later that trip while hiking through a bamboo thicket on the Hana side we looked down to see our legs covered with mosquitoes, what a wake up! If you ever find tropical warmth with almost zero flying insects that accepts USA dollars let me know as that's the basis of a great vacation. Maui is such an enjoyable family vacation... watch the tourists reactions at the airport gate when their flight is called to return home... the whining is overt... that can't be my plane they're calling... my Maui vacation is over, Waaaaaaaaaa!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
We call it condo camping; full kitchen, laundry, internet, TV; we've camped in Yosemite & it's not this comfortable while the warm ocean water is far more fun to play in. Morning is for snorkeling, off the beach by 10 or 11 to avoid sunburn, big mid-day meal at the condo, drive where we want for shopping or sightseeing & back to the beach by 4 or so for boogey boarding which sets you up with a great appetite for dinner. Kihei is a town full of Hawaiian locals mixed with tourists featuring movies, Safeway & shopping while Wailea is immediately south for Golf & upscale shopping/restaurants with a selection of great hotels to explore with a beach walk & more snorkeling opportunities. Extreme south Kihei is a unique location: the sand is finer, the wind is milder, the rain less, the big hotels newer, the snorkeling is so good that the Maui Dive Shop brochure highlighting the best snorkel locations omits mentioning Turtle-town (the first right turn south of Maui Prince Hotel where their boats go after boring Molikini), or Makena Landing [lost count of the Turtles we encountered last time we snorkeled there, but saw a group of 5 turtles on 6-28-12]... & the rates are very competitive). World class vacation - Tough to beat...
