Whether you take the 'Beeline' (State Route 87) from Sky Harbor -- a 30-minute trip -- or travel by vehicle from a distant state, when you first reach Fountain Hills and glimpse the ring of sun-dappled mountains surrounding the aptly named city -- you realize this town is truly special.
Few places within an easy commute of Scottsdale/Phoenix enable you to escape their maddening traffic without sacrificing conveniences. At Sunshine & Serene Lakeside Resort Casita in Fountain Hills stress-free shopping, dining, banking and proximity to state-of-the-art medical facilities like the Mayo Clinic are all wrapped in Southwest beauty you'll enjoy whether vacationing or traveling for work.
This magical feeling continues when you walk through the door of the completely remodeled second-floor Sunshine & Serenity with Southwest Pizzazz at Lakeside Resort Casitas. A sense of Wild West lore permeates this warmly appointed retreat, where natural beauty and the serenity of the sunny Southwest meet in the form of engaging cowboy and Native American artwork, themed furniture, tile floors, and new granite countertops. Modern amenities include secure WiFi so you can forget hunting for an open access WiFi Hotspot or trekking to the library to check your email and a NEW UPGRADE – a 40-inch HD Samsung LED in the living room (on swivel stand for optimum viewing regardless of where you’re sitting). A plasma HD TV is in the bedroom.
Step outside onto your very spacious, private patio where spectacular views of the Mazatzal and Red Mountain or the desert garden complete with cacti in the quiet courtyard below can be enjoyed from the bistro table or comfortable swivel, rocking lawn chairs. Watch carefully. You may spy a cactus wren, hawk, or meandering family of javelinas. And the patio’s physical orientation in the condo complex makes it ideally situated for optimum sunshine enjoyment.
Don't you deserve some time to finally relax!
Half of the 20-ft long patio is covered, so you can escape the sun if you desire or stretch out on one of the two chaise lounges provided. Watch the sun rise each morning beside enchanting Four Peaks Mountain, letting its rays warm you up while you sip your morning cup of Joe. Later watch the sun set as you relax in the afternoon with a cool glass of wine or cold beer. Imagine you can soak in the sunshine or finally read the talked about best sellers without ever having to leave your Southwest retreat. Or if your favorite sporting event is on TV, enjoy watching it on the rocker-recliner. However, there are plenty of attractions to lure you outside, from numerous golf courses, parks for desert hikes and highways with great bike lanes.
And if you need some medical attention, Fountain Hills has many fine medical facilities in addition to being an easy 15-20-minute commute to the world-famous Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale.
The Lakeside Resort Casitas are well-known for their meticulous upkeep, well-maintained desert landscaping and huge salt-water heated pool, complete with hot tub, both located to the Casitas Clubhouse -- all a few steps from Sunshine & Serenity with Southwest Pizzazz. From January through March, the clubhouse plays host to various activities, regular dinner socials as well as morning coffee and donuts -- so it's a good thing that the pool is next door!
Those aren't the only amenities of staying at Sunshine & Serenity with Southwest Pizzazz.
The world famous fountain in the 28-acre manmade lake in Fountain Park are a mere 300 yards away. Take time to explore Fountain Hills -- its large public art collection which dots various locations throughout the city with an eclectic, engaging collection of sculpture -- and the River of Time Museum -- to name a few. In February, the city will host the 26th annual FOUNTAIN HILLS GREAT FAIR, Feb. 22-23-24. The three-day juried art fair features nearly 480 artists and artisans from across the U.S. and around the globe, food booths, beer garden, breakfast, lunch and rest stops and live musical entertainment that attracts 200,000-plus visitors. And this year, riders from the genuine Hashknife Pony Express gallop through Fountain Hills Jan. 31, 2013 annual Parada del Sol in Scottsdale.
Fountain Hills and the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, which also call it home, feature one of the highest concentrations of world-class golf in the state of Arizona.
Five public 18-hole courses and one private country club – all possessing amazing vistas – provide exciting golfing. The city also is home to the Yavapai Nation’s Fort McDowell Casino and casino lovers will find many spots to place a bet in the Scottsdale and Phoenix area, which provides numerous attractions from shopping at the famous Scottsdale Fashion district to car events.
Car buffs won’t want to miss the Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auction at Westworld; racing fans will need to visit NASCAR (Phoenix International Raceway). Golfers can visit the TPC Scottsdale, home to the PGA Tour and Phoenix Open, which is a major festive event.
Families won’t want to miss the Phoenix Zoo or Rawhide Western Town and Steakhouse, a replica of an authentic frontier town that is celebrating 40 years of providing quality 1880s style family entertainment. It is Arizona's largest western-themed attraction and recently relocated from Scottsdale to Wild Horse Pass on the Gila River Indian Community. Then, point your vehicle north and journey to see the blazing red rocks of Sedona or the vast expanse of the Grand Canyon.

My wife and I recently spent a month at this Casita. The pictures do not do this unit justice. We felt at home as soon as we came through the front door. The Veranda was so relaxing, I almost forgot my tee time. The pool was right across from our unit and as always the grounds in the area were emaculate. We have stayed in several units at lake Side and by far this was our favorite and will stay here again. The owners were absolutly fantastic to work with. If you need a south west get awaythis is the plce to visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Good morning Fran and Rosemary; We had a wonderful month. My sister, Joan, made great use of your deck -- I think it is the best in the complex for sun. I prefer some shade, so while she lay on the sunbed, I was under cover, but still enjoying the heat. Thank you for leaving TV instructions, they were very clear and easy to follow. Best wishes,Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thanks so much for everything you've done to make our stay enjoyable. All the restaurant suggestions etc... and we did find the restaurants enjoyable. Fountain Hills, AZ, is very easy to settle into. It is good to know that we will be coming back next year. I can't describe it but I feel such serenity there. We are taking home so many good memories. All the best,Did you find this review helpful?
