Two , well-built, well maintained, tastefully improved, ecologically well-balanced, fully-furnished, easy-to-live in, ocean front summer cabins -- part of a secluded family compound -- near Acadia National Park.
Beautiful wooded site on bluff overlooking Frenchman Bay. Landscaping offers a considerable sense of privacy and comfortably furnished front deck provides spacious views of Lamoine State Park across the water. Seventy steps down sturdy stairway to public access beach.
Each 'Chalet' features attractive, well furnished and well equipped interior and exterior spaces, starting with high-ceilinged 'great room' (living/kitchen/dining area) with great bay views through large picture windows 2BD/1BA; indoor and outdoor (h/c) showers; comfortably sleeps 4-5;
Electronically-controlled propane-fired space heater, range/oven and on-demand domestic hot water heater; woodstove or fireplace; stereo boombox plays AM and FM radio, and CDs; color TV set serves as monitor for DVD player. High-speed wi-fi internet access.
Kitchen equipped with refrigerator/freezer, microwave oven, counters and cabinets, coffee grinder, automatic coffee maker and all flatware, crockery, glassware and utensils.
No dishwasher or clothes washer/dryer on premises. No land-line telephone. Good mobile reception.
No TV reception.
On-site parking for 1-2 vehicles/cabin
Free, island-wide shuttle bus stop and MDI Biological Laboratory are within easy walking distance. Six miles to/from downtown Bar Harbor. Why the Owner Chose Bar Harbor:
Our family began summering on MDI in the late 1950s when Steve did research at Jackson Laboratory. MDI remains for us 'the most beautiful island in the world.'
