Kick back on the deck of this mountain cabin and sip your morning coffee while taking in the majestic views of Slate Mountain and the Camp Nelson Meadow. Or, plan your rock climbing trek or fishing expedition up the Tule River while sitting at the dining table. Curl up with a novel in front of a fire as snow falls around this peaceful cabin before you head out for a cross-country ski or sledding outing with the kids.

Put the kids in the bedroom across the living room while you sleep soundly in the master bedroom. Enjoy the view of the Big Dipper and other constellations free of big city smog and light pollution from the master bedroom and deck.

Your kids will love the five-minute walk to the Camp Nelson general store for an ice cream, or the whole family can travel a half mile to the Pierpoint General Store and Restaurant for a juicy Pierpoint hamburger.

This perfectly located cabin is ideal for peaceful time away from cell phones, computers and the hustle and bustle of everyday life or merely a foray into the High Sierras to see the giant redwoods in the National Forest.

You can easily visit Sequoia and Kings Canyon on a day trip. However, once you are here you will appreciate the lack of tourists, tourist buses, and the solitude that comes with our quiet hamlet located in the Sequoia National Monument south of Sequoia and Kings Canyon.

Why the Owner Chose Camp Nelson

My dad had always dreamed of having a place in the mountains to fish and be amongst the trees. He wanted something to pass on to his family and he loves that we are able to share it with others. He can't spend the time there he would like so he relishes in the great feedback from people that appreciate our property.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

Cell Phones do not work in the mountains and we do not have internet service. This is truly a time away from all the hectic electronics of today's world. I can relax and not feel tied to work.

B
Camp Nelson Trail

Great hiking and mountain biking trail. This is also a good spot to launch a fishing expedition.

Incredible Cabin

Date of Stay: 11/11/11 Review Submitted: 11/17/11

My wife and I are avid hikers and had searched high and low for that perfect cabin that offered back door access to some of the High Sierra's trail heads while providing us a comfortable, serene setting to rest and charge ahead on the trails again the next day. Upon arrival, we were both blown away with the raw beauty of the surrounding area and the cleanliness of the cabin. The cabin is the perfect retreat and is handsomely decorated enough for a woman to feel at home and comfortable and great for a guy to feel he is not staying in some quaint country cabin. I've been suckered into that scenario by my wife on a few occassions, thats why I did the reseach this time. There are more than enough comfortable lounge chairs on the deck to sit back and relax while viewing the High Sierras and enjoying a cup of coffee. The living room has a nice comfortable man chair by the wood burning stove and plenty of great books to read. Both bedrooms have queen size pillow top mattresses, very comfortable. The kitchen has all the utenisls you'll need and the fridge is very clean. If you are the type that likes visiting a local waterhole and intermingling with the locals, Moe's Tavern is a short jaunt down the road, bring a flash light at night. The owner is a great guy and the locals are totally friendly. The pizza is really good, has a pool table and darts. The cabin is within walking distance to the Camp Nelson Trail, a great 6 mile (12 round trip) hike that brings you to the base of the Summit Trail. you'll follow the river for the majority of the trail and walk through many old growth Sequoia groves. Absolutely breath taking, Other trails, including Needle Point, are not too far off. we would totally recommend this cabin to others and believe you will not be disappointed.

Owner response:Joe, Thank you so much for the kind comments. Our family is always pleased to hear that our cabin makes for a great getaway. COme back again soon! Tha McFadden Family

Amazing Camp Nelson Getaway

Date of Stay: 02/04/11 Review Submitted: 02/19/11

We had an amazing weekend in Camp Nelson and can't wait to return to this cabin. The cabin is beautiful and the surrounding area magical. This was a perfect little weekend getaway from the warm weather and big city. We spent our weekend outside wandering in nearby sequoia groves, exploring the quiet mountainsides, and playing in the snow. Coming home each day to the cozy and comfortable cabin was perfect. We can't wait to return to Camp Nelson!

Owner response:Thank you Tom! We are always pleased to hear when people enjoy our mountain retreat. Lisa

The place is very comfortable and cozy. Full amenities are there. Quiet, peaceful place in the National Monument. The townspeople are nice too. The pictures don't do it justice.

We had a great time! Mom has never stayed in a cabin before and brought everything, even chairs for the deck. She was pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the cabin was, it has everything. We found everything so clean and homey. We loved it and we will be back. We met Joe and thought he was a terrific guy. We enjoyed our cozy fires and the view is spectacular. We even saw some deer in the front yard.

We had a great time. My daughter loved the little stuffed moose and the tub. We fished, hiked, played games and relaxed. We enjoyed the Mountian Festival and the mountain trails and waters. The cabin is darling and cleanwith a well stocked kitchen. Great view and location. Thanks
