Great Cabin

The cabin was very clean and cozy. It definetely had a cabin feel and everything worked great! The view from the living room window is great and the beds are very comfortable. Nelson Meadow, Moe's Cafe and the General store are within 2 minutes walking distance from the cabin. The cabin was all around a great choice and I would definetely recomend it to anyone!!!

Owner response:Thank you Lucy. I am so glad your stay went well. As you are so close come back and visit again soon! Lisa

Incredible Cabin

My wife and I are avid hikers and had searched high and low for that perfect cabin that offered back door access to some of the High Sierra's trail heads while providing us a comfortable, serene setting to rest and charge ahead on the trails again the next day. Upon arrival, we were both blown away with the raw beauty of the surrounding area and the cleanliness of the cabin. The cabin is the perfect retreat and is handsomely decorated enough for a woman to feel at home and comfortable and great for a guy to feel he is not staying in some quaint country cabin. I've been suckered into that scenario by my wife on a few occassions, thats why I did the reseach this time. There are more than enough comfortable lounge chairs on the deck to sit back and relax while viewing the High Sierras and enjoying a cup of coffee. The living room has a nice comfortable man chair by the wood burning stove and plenty of great books to read. Both bedrooms have queen size pillow top mattresses, very comfortable. The kitchen has all the utenisls you'll need and the fridge is very clean. If you are the type that likes visiting a local waterhole and intermingling with the locals, Moe's Tavern is a short jaunt down the road, bring a flash light at night. The owner is a great guy and the locals are totally friendly. The pizza is really good, has a pool table and darts. The cabin is within walking distance to the Camp Nelson Trail, a great 6 mile (12 round trip) hike that brings you to the base of the Summit Trail. you'll follow the river for the majority of the trail and walk through many old growth Sequoia groves. Absolutely breath taking, Other trails, including Needle Point, are not too far off. we would totally recommend this cabin to others and believe you will not be disappointed.

Owner response:Joe, Thank you so much for the kind comments. Our family is always pleased to hear that our cabin makes for a great getaway. COme back again soon! Tha McFadden Family

Amazing Camp Nelson Getaway

We had an amazing weekend in Camp Nelson and can't wait to return to this cabin. The cabin is beautiful and the surrounding area magical. This was a perfect little weekend getaway from the warm weather and big city. We spent our weekend outside wandering in nearby sequoia groves, exploring the quiet mountainsides, and playing in the snow. Coming home each day to the cozy and comfortable cabin was perfect. We can't wait to return to Camp Nelson!

Owner response:Thank you Tom! We are always pleased to hear when people enjoy our mountain retreat. Lisa

The place is very comfortable and cozy. Full amenities are there. Quiet, peaceful place in the National Monument. The townspeople are nice too. The pictures don't do it justice.

We had a great time! Mom has never stayed in a cabin before and brought everything, even chairs for the deck. She was pleasantly surprised at how well equipped the cabin was, it has everything. We found everything so clean and homey. We loved it and we will be back. We met Joe and thought he was a terrific guy. We enjoyed our cozy fires and the view is spectacular. We even saw some deer in the front yard.

We had a great time. My daughter loved the little stuffed moose and the tub. We fished, hiked, played games and relaxed. We enjoyed the Mountian Festival and the mountain trails and waters. The cabin is darling and cleanwith a well stocked kitchen. Great view and location. Thanks

This was our first time in the cabin as well as Camp Nelson. We brought our two little girls 4 and 10. We found the cabin to be so cozy, clean and comfortable with everything we needed! The McFadden's are very generous to share this wonderful retreat. We have rented many cabins over the years and this one was the best! with all the little extra comforts and knickknacks. Our girls really enjoyed the toys, books and clawfoot tub. My husband loved the wood burning stove. I loved the peace and quiet. We went to Balch Park one day, Porterville and Visalia on another day. The general store and the creek are all so cute. We also BBQ'd severla times. Enjoyed Stagg Tree area and Ponderosa. We will definitely be back.

My husband and I had been to Camp Nelson many years ago, before we were married and this trip brought our two sons, 5 and 2 1/2. Everyone loved it - the quiet and tranquility, the beautifulview - snow still clinging to the mountains across the way in June! and the extremely well kept , immaculate cabin. The kids loved the trip. THank you so much for providing such a lovely retreat.

My husband and two teenange boys caught nice size trout - six in all. They really go for those crickets. Thanks! The Nichols Family

This was a beautiful place to spend our honeymoon. The cbain was perfect and had all the accomodations we needed. We barbequed every night and enjoyed our surroundings. It was so quiet and peaceful here. The only people we saw were ones we went out of our way to see. We took a few nice walks around the neighborhood and were surprised to find several sequoia trees just around the corner. We plan on coming back here with our kids some day. Thanks for sharing your place with us. the Christensens

I took my two kids there for three days and I hardly saw them. We went hiking by the river and my 6 year old found a tree stump covered with ladybugs. She had just studied them in Kindergarten so she was truly amazed to see the thousands of them. My son found the Tule river to be fascinating, for the fish and simply the thrill of playing in the pools of water and soaking his tennis shoes to my dismay. In the evenings we were able to BBQ and then relax on the awesome deck looking at the stars. Our family is going back for a week!

My family and I spent a winter weekend at the cabin. The access to the cabin was made easy, by how well the roads were kept clear of snow.We enjoyed the days playing and sleding in the snow. The evenings we spent having hot cocktails on the deck of the cabin watching the light of the setting sun on the peaks of the surrounding mountains. The inside of the cabin was well kept and nicely decorated. We had all the fun of camping with the comforts of home.I would highly recommend a stay here to anyone.
