The ultimate in Luxury Beach Houses ... get away from it all with this large house, fronting the beach and warm Indian Ocean. Crannogs is a self catering beach house situated 40 meters from the ocean which is 20 – 24C degrees all year round.
ACCOMMODATION
Crannogs is a single storey brick house with five spacious air-conditioned bedrooms and three bathrooms (one en-suite) plus an extra shower room. All linen is supplied with the exception of bath and beach towels and any consumable goods will need to be brought by the occupants, including toilet paper and soap. This modern home sleeps ten, and has a cot handy as well as a large family and dining room and fully equipped kitchen.
The main, queen bedroom is en suite, facing the ocean. Two twin rooms in the front section share a bath/shower and toilet. The fourth bedroom has a double bed, with the remaining large family room containing 3 single beds and a cot. These 2 rooms also share a bath/shower and toilet as well as an additional shower off the courtyard.
FACILITIES
Enjoy the view of the Indian Ocean from the front deck and lawn or make use of the open courtyard to kick back and enjoy those all too special barbecues with family and friends. The beach is great for tanning, fishing, snorkeling & spearfishing, surfing, swimming, kite boarding, and loads more! The fabulous Tidal (Granny) Pool is a short walk south for the kids, or enjoy the swimming pool which is well protected from the wind. Dolphins are seen almost daily and occasionally you can see whales towards the horizon.
LOCATION AND ATTRACTIONS
The house is a 5-10 minute drive from the Lifestyle Shopping, restaurants, and from four 18 hole golf courses. If you are looking to let your hair down and want to see the razzle and dazzle of the city, you are only 35 minutes from the vibrant hub of Durban. Durban offers all the night life you will need. Durban is also a great place for the discerning shopper, historian, and cultural junkie.
South Africa also offers the visitor unique insights into traditional culture. You are one and a half hours from Shakaland, the all encompassing Zulu cultural experience. You will be transported back to the time of Shaka Zulu, one of history's most feared warriors.
Last but not least, the experience that most people come to South Africa for is the African wild life. Salt Rock is an hour and a half drive from the world famous Game Parks of Umfolozi, Mkuze, and Hluhluwe. Experience the thrill of seeing Lions, Elephants, Rhinos, Leopards, Buffaloes and other game unique to Africa.
Other Amenities that are offered to the visitor are a live-in Maid who will clean house, make beds, attend to laundry, and ironing as well as all the dish washing. I came to Durban with 8 other people and we had such a great time because we stayed in Crannogs Cottage. Everything was perfect - the house is directly on the beach and has a pool and lawn furniture, it has a table outside for eating breakfast on the porch (or dinner), and tons of clean beds with nice linens for sleeping. There are also two wonderful maids who will spoil you with doing the dishes and beds. There is also free internet in the main rooms! Finally, Claire was very helpful when I had many questions about putting down a deposit/wiring money and even when I needed a number for the taxi. I highly, highly recommend this cottage and would love to go there again someday myself.
Recommended for:Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
