Ca' Barbo apartment
Cà Barbo is a spacious and practical first floor apartment placed in a delightful 17th century Venetian palace , strategically positioned right in the beating heart of the popular Santa Croce district. This charming apartment has been completely restored and refurbished in 2004 with authentic Venetian terrazzo floors. It has a master bedroom with a king size bed, fitted wardrobe and antique furniture, and a spacious living room with a big bookcase full of books and Murano glass chandelier. The new kitchen is fully fitted and is divided from the living room by a corridor.
The area:
Ca' Barbo is only two minutes walk to the 14th century Church of the Frari , the jaw-dropping Tintoretto-filled interior of the Scuola Grande Di San Rocco and the vaporetto stop and 'Traghetto' gondola ferry at San Tomà on the Grand Canal - ideal for trips over to the 'must-see' attractions of the San Marco district and beyond.
For a piece of the action you can join the local residents and students from the university who meet for a ‘spritz’ and to catch up on news at the always lively and always lovely Campo Santa Margherita just around the corner where caffè , pizzerie, restaurants , bars and gelaterie all join together in creating a wonderful and very local Venetian atmosphere.

Not one negative point to say about this apartment! It is comfortable, well designed, tastefully furnished. It's located on a small and quiet "campo", ideally situated to stroll easily throughout Venice, in all directions. Convenient stores just a few yards away facilitate the daily life. And, to top it off, the welcoming owner, who lives just nearby, is readily available to help. Yes, we have already plans to come back and we'll share this address with our friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The apartment met all the high expectations generated by the owner's description. It is compact, but perfectly adequate for a stay by two adults. It might be a bit crowded if more people would stay to sleep on the sofa bed in the living room. The bedroom is very comfortable, the bathroom complete, the living cosy and the kitchen complete with all the desired equipment, but tiny. The unit is very clean, the owner very helpful. The location cannot be better; walking distance to bus and train station, around the corner from one of the best 'campos' with shops, restaurants and bars. Two vaporetto stops are five minutes walk to provide easy access to the entire city. We'll definitely return to this unit if we have another chance to visit the cityRecommended for: Age 55+.

This apartment was centrally located in a lively and authentic neighborhood which looked unto a campiello and was a walking distance from everywhere else in Venice. The apartment itself was very clean et comfortable, filled with natural light during the day, and had a lived-in character which rendered it even more charming. The lady who rented the apartment (Georgia) came to get us when we arrived, took very good care of us and was very helpful up to the end of our stay. We ate quite well at several restaurants on the nearby piazzas (Santa Margharita, San Barnaba). We would go back anytime.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is a charming property in a delightful, conveniently located area very close to Frari Church, Scuola San Rocco, Casa Rezzonico, Academia, vaporetto, traghetto, etc. It was very clean and comfortable with an attractive decor. Georgia was very gracious and helpful. I especially appreciate her meeting us at the train station and taking us to the apartment. And she kindly stored our luggage on the last day so that we could continue sightseeing until it was time to meet our train. The only slight negatives were no shower (only tub) and poor pans to cook with (I have dietary issues that necessitate cooking in). These would not stop me from staying there again. I highly recommend it.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have a rental on VRBO and know the importance of providing excellent service to our guests as well as accurately describing what we offer. This apartment does just that. Georgia was very responsive to our inquiries as well as doing an excellent job guiding us towards good quality, reasonably priced restaurants. Her English is quite good. Very helpful as our Italian is very limited. The apartment is charming, the bed comfy, the kitchen updated and fully equipped. The bath is updated as well, but please note there is only a tub with a hand held shower head. No problem for us, though. We loved the location. It is in a quiet "real" Venetian neighborhood, but with easy access to all of Venice. Plus it is only a 5 minute walk from the train station. If you are going to be in Venive for a few nights this is an excellent alternative to those high priced hotels! We would definitely recommend Ca'Barbo.Did you find this review helpful? We arrived in Venice and were met by the owner, Georgia. She thoughtfully showed us to her centrally located apartment. The accommodations were exactly what my husband and I were looking for: clean, comfortable, kitchen amenities to help cook so as to save money, and tastefully decorated. Best of all....in walking distance to everything.....plazas, museums, osterias (aka local pubs), restaurants, cafes, etc etc etc. If only we could have stayed longer..... Thank you Georgia for sharing your home. Best wishes.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

From the owner´s proposed desire to greet us where airport bus arrives in the city, to her interest in providing us with information about Venice, it was obvious that we were dealing with a very thoughtful person. The apartment itself is in top shape and very well located for all levels of sightseeing and self'-catering. For those with a reading knowledge of Italian, there is an excellent little library of books about Venice and Italian culture in general, as well as children's reading and viewing material. I would suggest this apartmente for singles and couples with up to one small child. There is a stair case to contend with not suited for people with disabilities.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

Spotlessly clean and nicely decorated. In a quiet little square. So glad we opted to be away from the crowds of San Marco! Lots of reasonably priced restaurants here and picturesque streets and canals. A ten minute walk to the vaparetto to take in the tourist sights then escape back to the serenity of our little neighborhood. The A/C was quiet and efficient. One flight of stairs. The owner met us at the train station and walked us to the apartment.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We have rented a couple of apartments in Venice, but Ca'Barbo was the best! Best landlord; best location; best appointments - simply the best. Grorigia is an extraordinary landlord and friend (yes, friend) as she made every effort to make sure our stay was pleasant and enjoyable. She is delightful and added to our trip immensely. While being conveniently located, the neighborhood is Venetian and the local restaurants abundant. The grocery is close and fresh vegetable/fruit vendors plentiful. The photos are accurate and the apartment is highly recommended. We will be back, for sure!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

We loved being in a "neighborhood" and really enjoyed people-watching in Campo San Margherita. The apartment is small and very clean. There are great restaurants within walking distance, and even Piazza San Marco is not too far away. The owners live next door and were available to answer questions, which was helpful.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
