We had four days of bliss in and around this amazing, spacious, clean, comfortable, well-appointed cedar cabin. It's nestled on the side of a tree covered mountain, down a long winding private lane - surrounded by breathtaking 360? views, The huge fireplace was the focal point of our weekend, as were the mountain views, and numerous outdoor decks/gathering areas - we could only imagine how amazing it must be in the summer months. There is hiking on the property as well as close proximity to trails, the reservoir, nature reserves and numerous quaint towns for food and shopping. The house is well stocked with kitchen tools, linens, speakers for music, appliances - even a sauna. The photos and description here do not convey the exceptional experience of being there - we were sad to leave, but looking forward to going back - SOON!!!

I rented this beautiful and spacious house in the woods outside of woodstock for New Years! It was a wonderful place to spend the holiday. The house is extremely comfortable, and though the photos are great, they don't even do the interior justice. Not only are there three bedrooms, but there are numerous other places (dens, family rooms) that are ideal for hanging out. The owner has furnished the home very comfortably, and it was a pleasure just being there with some friends. The sauna and huge tub in the downstairs bathroom are also amazing for relaxing. The kitchen is very large with two sinks and well laid out and flows well into the great room with the fireplace and larger dining table. Also - the fireplace is raised up so if you have small kids you don't have worry about them getting too close. The views of the mountains are amazing!

My family and I just spent a week at this beautiful home over the Christmas holidays. We couldn't have asked for anything more perfect for our family gathering. There is little to add to what other reviewers have already mentionned: the house is very welcoming, feels like a very special home, and is clean, well laid-out, well-stocked, spacious, with stunning views in virtually every direction. We were fortunate to have two snowfalls while we were there, further adding to the ambiance. (That said, in snowy conditions a 4 wheel drive definitely is recommended base on our own experience of getting up to the house from the main road.) The home is very much set in nature -- you don't see or hear anyone else, but within 15-20 minutes, we could easily be in Woodstock or Phoenicia. We drove to Hunter for a day of skiing; the drive was easy and scenic, and took under 40 minutes door to door. Claude was very helpful and responsive throughout the entire process. We have rented several houses through VRBO, including through Woodstock, and this was by far one of our favorites!

I can't say enough nice things about this home. It is beautiful, full of light, quiet, spacious and has great mountain views. It really couldn't be better. The location is great for hiking as well as hanging out in Woodstock. The owner even crafted the perfect fire for us so all we had to do was light a match. Four happy women had a fabulous weekend in this beautiful home.

While the photographs of this house are beautiful, in order to fully do justice to it, you really have to spend a weekend there. The owners have clearly put a lot of work into creating a home in tune with nature, and it shows. The house was impeccably clean, incredibly spacious, and the kitchen is well-stocked with any appliances and implements you might need. Each room and the elevated deck provide great views of the surrounding woods and the ridges of the Catskills -- best of all, you feel totally secluded. And yet you're twenty minutes from three different markets, two farmstands, and the towns of Woodstock and Phoenicia. Claude replied promptly and thoroughly to all our emails, and supplied us with a binder full of information about seasonal local events and attractions, as well as a helpful FAQ for house maintenance. I can't wait to stay here again.

The house is beautiful, well crafted, comfortable and spacious. We lounged on the screened porch and deck with its view of the distant mountains. The great horned owls frequented its forest of oak, birch and hemlock. The owner is easy and pleasant to communicate with. This is the perfect home for a weekend or extended getaway. We can't wait to return.

While planning our impromptu getaway upstate, we originally were looking into the Berkshires. But something kept drawing my eye to Woodstock and the amazing houses that were settled on the mountains. When I came across this country house, I had to at least try to see if we could stay for the weekend. And it ended up being just what our group needed. We were 3 couples in our 20 somethings looking for a little space, a good area to cook, and some fresh air. The home had everything we needed and with my favorite town nearby, I couldn't have asked for better. Plus the owner was helpful and answered every question I had. I hope we have a chance to visit again soon!

The description of this home is just about perfect, though only a visit can truly do it justice. An absolutely lovely expansive escape, with a decidedly Frank Lloyd Wright design aesthetic – clean lines, cathedral ceilings and large expansive windows and sliding doors lead to loads of natural light and the distinct sense of being ‘one with nature.’ The house offers numerous decks and balconies for reading and relaxing, and the living room centers on a gorgeous fireplace. The downstairs sauna also offers an extra spa-like retreat touch. Should you even want to leave, the area also boasts some of the best hiking around. We enjoyed the Slide Mountain trail (a rigorous rocky workout) and a hike behind the nearby Buddhist monastery (just outside Woodstock) to a lookout tower with breathtaking views. The city of Woodstock also offers all the food and prime fixins that you’ll need to cook up a storm in the open kitchen. We had an incredible time, in large part due to the attentiveness of the owner and nearby neighbors. The house was pleasantly prepared, fully equipped and laden with local information about nearby activities for the curious sightseer. It was very hard for us to return the city after such a nice visit upstate. My only hesitation in publicizing a glowing review is that I hope this home will always be available to us when we are next in need of an escape. Over the past 10 years we have had the pleasure of staying in a good handful of area homes, but this is by far our favorite.

This was my second stay in this spacious, elegant yet comfortable and easy to care for wooded aerie. We come for the outdoors and the location offers ready access by car to a wide range of hikes--from level and paved to energetic scrambles, with stunning mountain views and streams in every direction. What better than to then sit by the fire with a good book or cook a hearty meal to share with good friends in the well-appointed kitchen while watching birds flit about? The house is beautifully maintained and the owner, who knows local resources like the back of his hand, is incredibly helpful. We've been here summer and winter. Spring is next.

We stayed at Amy and Claude’s house for a week during the summer, and it was just fabulous. It is just as described and as seen in the photos. Clean, beautiful, in harmony with the surroundings. It is spacious enough that 2 couples did not get in each other’s way, and 3 would have plenty of room as well. The decks and the screened in porch are beautiful and peaceful. There is a gym (with a gorgeous view) and a well-equipped kitchen. We took beautiful walks and hikes, found a wonderful swimming hole, and took advantage of films and restaurants in the area. All in all, it was perfect.
