Coronado house description
JUST BECAME AVAILABLE FOR SUMMER 2013.
Relax at one of Coronado' most tranquil, relaxing cottage retreats, located on one of the Village's lovliest lanes. Wake up to soft light filtering through the orange tree by your window.
A short walk takes you to elegant sidewalk cafés, vivacious new sports bars or family-friendly home cooking establishments. In addition to the superb professional theater group located on the island, the Lambs Players Theater, there is an excellent community theater and a newly restored movie palace.
If a quieter mood comes over you, relax in front of the gas fireplace, putter in the gourmet kitchen or throw a couple of your favorite meal items on the barbecue on the patio.
Use the bicycles at the cottage to explore the island, go to the Concerts in the Park or limber up and take on the bayfront golf course.
At night, nothing beats going to the historic hotel Del Coronado for a quick (or slow) nightcap on their veranda.
In the morning you can reinvigorate using the multihead shower, or soak away any sore muscles in the Japanese soaker tub featuring eight Jacuzzi jets.
High-speed wireless Internet makes it possible to check restaurant reviews, update the music on your iPod or (if you absolutely must) check your e-mail.

THE CUTEST COTTAGE
THE CUTEST COTTAGE
Wow… Right behind a huge tree there is the cutest cottage ever. We loved our stay here, the charm of the house and the beauty of wonderful Coronado. It has all the amenities needed, the kitchen is fully equipped. There are plenty of towels and linens. The beds? just like heaven in a mattress! The common areas (kitchen, living room…) are very spacious and the back yard is great for BBQS, it is surrounded by vegetation, its privacy and tranquility make it perfect to spend the afternoon reading. Overall it is an adorable cottage. We loved it! The neighborhood is lovely, quiet and felt very safe, we loved to ride the bicycles everywhere, the riding was always pleasant and relaxing. It is convenient located, close to the beach, to the Orange Avenue, where all the stores are, and very close to San Diego down town. Owners are so nice and helpful, someday I hope to return to San Diego and repeat my stay in this beautiful place. Thank you for sharing your gorgeous cottage Candela.

I would like to highly recommend this beautiful cottage located in Coronado Island. It is really comfortable, ideal for a couple or a family. It has a lovely back yard with a barbeque. The master room is really spacious, with two balconies and a big bathroom which has a Jacuzzi and an incredible shower with three different ways of stream water, a part from that, the best of the master room is the king bed, the most comfortable bed I ever tried. The second room has also a bathroom, it is very convenient. The kitchen and the living room are connected making the ground floor big and really bright since it has big windows in the walls that let you see the green backyard. In summary, I was delighted with our stay at this remarkably charming and lovely Coronado Cottage.

This was our second stay at this superb property, and we can't wait to return! Its a very wonderful home, with a magnificent backyard, all the bells and whistles, and an absolutely unbeatable host! The home is two story, situated on a cozy lane, with lush green plants (which ensure exceptional privacy), covered parking, and very quiet neighbors! It is located right in the middle of all the spots you'll want to visit; a 10 minute walk to all the fun little restaurants along the beach (including the Dell), a 15 minute walk to the ferry landing, two blocks to the golf course, and four blocks to the park and library. The "dog beach" is a bit further, but our dog enjoyed the walk (with all the new things to smell) just as much as the beach! The house has a wonderful main living area, complete with all the latest appliances, a very nice laundry, and full bathroom. The furnishings are very comfortable and fresh, and there are two sets of french doors that virtually open the entire wing to the backyard's pleasant garden setting. There's a new BBQ, and a number of beach cruiser bikes to ride. Upstairs is just as nice, with a very nice master suite which is complete with a large jacuzzi! The bed is very comfortable, and again there are two sets of french doors which open to a nice balcony. If you're lucky the oranges on the tree just outside the doors will be ripe and you can enjoy some fresh juice! The second bedroom is just as nice and has its own complete bath. Great home, location and host!!! You will have absolutely no regrets!!!

AMAZING - EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED
AMAZING - EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED
The pictures and description don't do this place justice. It is AMAZING!! To start with, every door downstairs opens onto a private garden with a 6 foot high fence all around it. The trees and landscaping create a Zen-like tranquility. We love that everything was within a short walk; the beach, with its oddly sparkling sand and really good restaurants. We're not golfers, so we didn't do anything other than walk in the mornings by the golf course. The huge Japanese Jacuzzi bathtub was my favorite part of the whole house, and was a great way to end an active day. The place was immaculate, tastefully furnished and yet very much a comfortable, embracing cottage experience. The owners were incredibly responsive and warmly generous, loaning us their own bikes when we had friends come by and wanted to take the bicycle trip around the island.

Not as described

The property is located on a tree lined 'lane' (which is more of an alley than a street) that is a 20 minute walk to the beach. When we arrived the place did not appear well maintained and clean. The pocket door in the master bedroom was stuck, there was mildew on the shower curtain and the towels had stains (over the the next 24 hours the owner did fix the door, arrange for a housekeeper to clean, and replaced the shower curtain and towels). The description was innacurate when it mentioned an internet connected computer and cable tv. There was no computer/printer when we arrived (a laptop was later provided, but it quickly froze up and was unustable--a source of great frustration). The cable did not initially include channels such as ESPN, CNBC, etc. but after our complaints the owner did upgrade. There was no telephone. The owner claims nobody cares for a local phone these days and everyone just uses cell phones (I think it was more likely just another expense being skimped). The televisions were very old, and it was difficult to hear the sound in the living room. The vcr on the tv upstairs did not seem to work. We attempted to be patient and allow the owner to correct problems. But after the first day of earnest attempts to correct problems the owner was out of town and did not have someone locally to manage the property and help us. The owner did offer, via email, to let us depart two days early from the one week rental, but did not offer any refund on previous days. In the end, after paying full fare based on an innacurate description, I felt a bit snookered. It would not require a lot of effort and investment to live up to the property description. A good consistent housecleaing/maintenance routine and a few thousand dollars investment in computer and tvs. I hate to gripe about things....BUT, for the sake of future renters I really hope the owner makes the necessary investment to be more honest to his description.

By way of introduction, Coronado is a lovely place to stay. If you don't require being on the beach, and you want to do a bit of walking, this may be the place for you -- there is good reason to walk on Coronado! And finally, you're 10 minutes from the convention center and 20 minutes from the airport. In focusing on the cottage itself, it is beautifully furnished and situated on a lovely, small lot hidden on an alley. It's comfortable for reading, talking, sitting in the sun, and enjoying the flowers. You really have a sense of privacy here. The cottage description on VRBO is accurate, so no further details are really necessary, however, the 2 suite bedrooms (K,Q) make for a wonderful retreat for 2 couples. My favorite part of the accommodation was the Asian soaking tub -- wonderful! You're only blocks from most everything on Coronado but I suggest that you come with a car in order to see the many attractions around San Diego. Public transportation might be something to look for if you're staying longer than one or two weeks. Lastly, communication with the proprietor was uncomplicated and pleasurable, whether by email or phone. He is responsive, helpful, and efficient.

We stayed here with our 18 month old and some friends who have a 3 yr old child. We had a wonderful time. The cottage was beautiful just like in the pictures, clean, very welcoming, and cosy. It was so nice to come back to the cottage after a day out exploring San Diego to kick back and relax. My husband had a conference in downtown and we also made trips to the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, and the Wild Animal Park. The cottage was a great location, mostly 10-15 minutes to anywhere we wanted to go except for Wild Animal Park which was a bit further up north. The owner was very nice and accomodating in meeting us to give us the key. He also gave us great recommendations on things to do and places to eat in Coronado. It was great to stay here as a family and with our friends as the kids had space to play and we were also often able to eat in and cook in the fully-equipped kitchen. We would definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity in the future.

This Coronado cottage was the perfect accomodation for our family while we stayed in Coronado. The location is convenient to the park, main street and ocean. The cottage's kitchen is well-stocked with cooking implements and the larged, fenced-in back yard is perfect for kids. It is nicely decorated in a comfortable style that made us glad to come in and relax. We will definitely keep this property on our list as one to stay in again.

Let me sum up our stay: FABULOUS! The house is darling (more on that below), the owners are wonderful to work with, and the location is ideal - easy walk to everything Coronado: Spreckels park which is great park for kids to play, the Hotel Del Coronado and the downtown area with our favorite burger place, Burger Lounge - do not miss it!, the marina area, and beautiful beaches everywhere. We also thought Coronado island was a great place to stay to 'see' San Diego, everything was relatively quick drive - 20ish minutes from the island. And this home truly was the sanctuary we had hoped it would be. We have a young daughter and newborn and we were looking for a place just to relax, cook meals, and enjoy our family and we definitely found that here. The house is cozy and it was such a pleasure waking up everyday in our big king size bed with delicious down comforter and light coming in everywhere and starting the day playing with our kids. Everything has been 'thought of': its easy to get on the internet, the kitchen has what you need, there are speakers and docking station for your ipod, the master shower has special valve to get extra hot which I loved, TV upstairs so could have cartoons for our daughter, extra quilts and pillows and they were beautiful, the decor has that beachy cottage feel, the deck off the master bedroom is perfect for sneaking off and reading a book in the sun, the owners were accommodating and helpful and just nice people... well, we loved everything about it and everyday my husband and I had to look at each other and comment about how great the place was and how glad we were to have found it!

My wife and I visit Coronado every summer to escape the Arizona 110s. Last August we toured the Midway Museum in downtown San Diego and had a great time. My Dad and I were both stationed on aircraft carriers in the Navy, so we knew this would be a great trip for all of us when my parents visited again. We hadn’t rented on VRBO before, but we knew we wanted to be comfortable. We won’t be going back to a hotel. This quaint, CLEAN cottage was perfect for our visit. We walked to the shops and restaurants in minutes. Returning to the cottage from a day of fun felt like coming home. Everything we needed was there.
