We are from Indiana and my daughter decided to get married in Georgia because she and her husband are in the military close by. Weddings themselves are stressful but my daughter wanted me to make her wedding cake and flowers. I went into panic mode to find a place with a kitchen large enough to make a 7 tiered wedding cake. Tall Pines was ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! It has a very large kitchen with not one, but two ovens! There was a lot of counter space and 2 tables (dining room and kitchen). The kitchen is an open concept that allows the whole family to be together while preparing meals and sitting around to chat, OH and for wedding preparations! The house itself is beautiful and the master suite makes you feel like you are at a spa. The house itself is amazing but the best part is the back porch! The view from the porch is so serine. We would sit out on the porch and watch the tide come in and the cranes fishing. There are small fiddler and blue crabs, and oyster beds at the end of the long dock. We did not use the pool but it is very nice as well. I cannot explain how wonderful the sunset is on the porch or early morning coffee as the sun comes up. It is like you are in a different world away from civilization. Vicki and Christa (the owner and manager) are wonderful as well. They are so helpful and accommodating! Christa had a nice meal waiting for us when we arrived so all we had to do was relax after a long day of traveling. They made us feel like family and you don’t see that very often. I highly recommend Tall Pines and would love to go back some day!!Owner response: thank you, indeed we would love to welcome you again. Our thanks to you for the immaculate condition of the home upon your departure. It was greatly appreciated

This extremely well furnished and maintained home was the perfect place for us to use as a base of operations for our spring photography trip. We were very impressed by the quietness of the area and the large yard of majestic trees, Spanish moss, and flowering plants. The real surprise was the beauty and livability of the large home itself. The craftsmanship and splendor of this well maintained property cannot be appreciated by just viewing the images on the web; it has to be experienced. The owner was very gracious and accommodating, and was ready to help with any of our questions and offered suggestions for photography locations. Since we prepare all our meals, we appreciated the spacious and professionally equipped kitchen. While just the two of us, the property easily could accommodate a much larger family gathering while maintaining individual privacy. We particularly enjoyed the privacy afforded by the location, and the wonderful views of the marsh from the screened in porch. We strongly recommend this property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: thank you for the wonderful photos, we appreciate it very much.

That's what this property is. I am very particular and Tall Pines exceeded my expectations. The house and all the rooms are very large, comfortable, and beautifully decorated. I was traveling with 4 couples and we all had our own privacy as well as community seating in the common rooms. The photos and descriptions don't even do Tall Pines justice because you can't see the warm touches in each room, the wood-burning fireplace roaring, or the large bags of ice cubes waiting for cold beverages. The beds are very comfortable, the bathrooms stocked with hair dryers, the garage available for parking, and a gourmet kitchen has everything you'll need. The view out the screened-in back porch is beautiful and serene - you can't see another property. The tide coming in and out is fascinating. The other truly outstanding feature of this property is the customer service provided. Christa and Vickie were extremely prompt and thorough in replying to my many inquiries before and after I put down a deposit. They are a wealth of information and so willing to help out or provide anything we needed. We attended a wedding on Jekyll Island and spent time on St. Simon's Island. The location is perfect for both. We hope to return to play golf on Jekyll Island and visit Savannah too (about an hour away). I highly recommend Tall Pines for couples, families with kids, women's trip, or a quiet retreat.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I am afraid to write this as I may never have a chance to book this house again.Yes it is that great!! When you drive up to the house you think this is the house from Gone with the Wind. The live oak in the front is dripping with spanish moss and the flowers are all shades of pink. The pictures are bang on. If you like to cook this is the kitchen ;double ovens, 6 burner gas stove top. This was not a house we rented for the month This was a home away from home for us. Watching the tide come and go wasn't only soothing to our souls but very picturesque. The bird watching was fun . The location is very private but within easy driving to all shops and resturants Our dogs had plenty of yard to roam in. The outdoor cats got along with the dogs and we enjoyed the swing on the front porch with one curled up on our lap. There was plenty of room for the 4 of us to work and relax in. The large livingroom has 3 comfy couches for watching TV or reading. We found Gary Lee's smokehouse to be superior for steaks(from his butcher shop) as well as the smoked brisket or pulled pork(from the resturant). The key lime cake or coconut are to die for. This home was great for visiting up and down the Georgia coast from Savanah to St Mary's all within an hour's drive. We visited old forts, modern shopping centers, fished, rode the backroads of Georgia and we were always greeted by friendly people. They were always willing to take the time to help us. We loved this house so much and area we have booked it for Easter this year on our way back from down south at the end of March. It will be hard to say goodbye to Vickie,Connie and Christa. This is True Southern Hospitality. thank you for allowing us to stay.Your Canadian friendsRecommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: it was such a pleasure having you stay at our home. Thank you so much for this wonderful review. However, I thought my chicken and rice soup beat Gary Lee's BBQ, lol, have I failed ? Wishing you the best and we hope to see you again.

My extended family (sisters, husbands, boyfriends, nieces, nephews, doggies - generally around 10 of us) gathers every year somewhere between Charleston and St Augustine roughly between Xmas and New Year's Day for a week. We all live further north (Chicago, NY City, Boston and Charlotte) and it's a welcome chance to store up some extra heat energy before the winter starts getting mean and surly. I seem to have inherited the mantle of house-finder which is sometimes a bit dicey. After settling on the Brunswick area and finding myself somewhat put off by the St Simon scene which seemed excessively touristy I stumbled across this place and decided to take a chance on it. I want to thank the people who wrote all 17 uniformly enthusiastic reviews for helping me make up my mind because it turned out to be a superbly charming and comfortable place to stay. We are an odd mix of vegans, flexitarians and omnivores but Christa was kind enough to welcome us with a big pot of chicken soup and a big pot of vegetable soup + a basket of goodies all of which were highly welcome. The surprising thing about the house is that it has not yet been discovered by Hollywood. It's visually striking and the view out over the salt marsh is wonderful (even without the dolphins - we did spot the kingfisher however). Brunswick and St Simon's and Jekyll are all within an easy 15 minute drive from the site. A couple of us managed to squeeze in some golf at the Indian Mound course on Jekyll and at The Lakes course to the west in the direction of Waycross. Highly recommend both. The best restaurant by far that we found was the Indigo Shack in Brunswick. Also highly recommend the Sea Turtle Museum and then Driftwood Beach at the north end of Jekyll. A stroll thru Millionaires Row is absolutely required. The directions from Christa were very good but might should have mentioned a rather nervous-making yellow sign just before you make a sharp left at the end of the dirt road and go over the bridge. Just ignore it and continue on. Thanks Vickie and Christa for creating and maintaining such a splendid house and grounds. Almost forgot - If in the mood for a good vegan meal and a good head trip check out the Tree House Hostel. It's a very welcoming place way back in the woods not far from Tall Pines. Don't miss the spectacular outdoor toilets.Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.
Owner response: our sincere thanks, and we are glad you enjoyed your stay. Sorry that the dolphins did not show. Maybe next time. And... I learned a lot, too, never knew about the "Tree House", would definitely recommend it to future guests.

WOW! Where can I start to begin to tell you how wonderful our stay was in your magnificent home? My husband surprised me with a trip to your home for my 60th birthday which fell on Thanksgiving this year. Our two children and their families met us and we all agree that this is a wonderful place to vacation. Christa met us to show us around the property and had prepared an authentic German meal for us to enjoy. Man, oh man, it was the best. Prost! Even the 3 year old and 22 month old ate their share of schnitzel, spatzle, dumplings, strudel, and more! Can't thank you enough for our special meal. Christa also arranged to have a huge turkey defrosting in the fridge for us. We had a Thanksgiving that we will remember forever and it was by far my best birthday! After Christa had showed us the house we kept saying that there wasn't a thing that they had forgotten in regards to dishes, extra blankets, bicycles, books to read, extra ice, kitchen supplies, you name it! I told her I would try and think of something that we needed that wasn't already there. Nope. It's all there! Our family all agreed that we would like to come back for another visit. We do want to study and learn more about the tides because we really enjoyed the dock whether the tide was high or low. Great place to sit and watch the sunset! The marsh is ever changing and I couldn't get enough of it. The neighborhood kingfisher visited each day and on our last day we saw a heron enjoying some breakfast. Thank you, Vicki and Christa, for everything. Your emails, generosity, and hospitality take the cake, or should I say strudel, compared to other VRBO places we've stayed at! We will see you again!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, girls getaway.

This property has an unrivaled view of expansive tidal marshlands... thousands of acres! The tide comes rolling in and then flows swiftly out.... over and over. You can walk the flats when the tide is out but be ready to get back to the dock in time! The only other human presence is an adjoining property that you can barely see or hear. The cats are quiet and a part of the property. The 5 bedroom home is well laid out and clean. The 2nd. story screened-in back porch is large and, of course, the view incredible. We appreciated the thoughtfulness of Christa, Vickie and Connie. I hope to return and recommend that you choose 'Tall Pines' for your stay (as long as it does not clash with my future plans!).Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary here by getting away for it all for a week. Yes, just the two of us in an awesome big place. If you want quiet - this is it! The description and pictures online do the place justice, but there is no way to communicate the atmosphere. It was divine. We played a little basketball, strolled and explored the property like little kids, grilled, and enjoyed the porch AND the tire swing. We really appreciated the large kitchen because "we" are just now learning to cook, now that the kids are all gone. hah! Large T.V. made football fun on a lazy afternoon. Loved drinking coffee on the back porch, listening to the fish jump in the a.m. Brought our poles and fished off the dock. Didn't catch anything but that didn't matter. We had to call the owner a couple of times to see how things worked, but she was always available. Thanks Vickie for sharing your home with us, we will be back.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Our stay here is not even complete, but I felt I needed to write a review for anyone who is looking for a place to vacation. You dont have to look anymore. This IS the place. We arrived here on Wednesday, (today is Friday) and we were warmly received by the beautiful soul Christa. She showed us where everything was and left us plenty of information of places to visit while we were here. It wasnt until after she left that we were able to fully take in the beautiful surrondings we were in . A wonderful basket of fruit and a bottle of wine awaited us, with a wonderful homemade strawberry shortcake and some beautiful personal gifts. Today is only Friday, and we will be staying until Thursday morning (extended to us by our host Christa and the owner Vicki) but I felt I need to write a review because many people look on these sites on the weekends. You seriously dont have to look any further. THIS IS THE PLACE. We're already wanting to come back here next year with our other adult children. We came here to be with our son who is stationed at Fort Stewart. Because of the long weekend, he is able to be here with us. When we planned our vacation, he just wanted something similar to home. Where we could cook, grill out , relax etc. If I couldve taken a picture of my sons face when he pulled up to the house...You would all understand why this is perfect. The pictures on this site are beautiful, but do not even come close to doing the justice it deserves. I will continue my review after our trip, but just had to post this for anyone looking on this site. Dont question it....Just book it. You will not be disappointed. It is everything you could hope for and then some. MaryBeth Klann/Green Bay WIOwner response: hey, girl, now dont get carried away, lol. We treat everyone coming this way and staying at the house the same. Thanks for the wonderful review. God bless you and especially Dustin who serves our country. Christa
