Special offer: First Week of June 25% off - $800+ savings Details
First week of June 25% off !!!! Truly special property that makes the most of an ideal location and allows you to feel like you are on vacation the moment you arrive. It is located on wide and quiet cove and is the prime location on Lake Lure to take in panoramic views of the mountains, Chimney Rock, Hickory Nut Gorge, and especially for viewing beautiful sunsets across the lake. All of this plus the use of our 24 ft long pontoon boat.
We added a boat house with an extra large dock area for playing and fishing from in 2010 that includes a large raised deck 15 ft off the water to create fantastic place to relax down by the lake, watch family and friends swim and play in the water as well as watch sunset. This will also provide shade down at the lake throughout the day to maximize comfort for everyone who is spending the day down 'on the water'. We have also added free high speed wifi and free local and long distance calling(US only).
We also updated our landscaping in 2011 & 2012 to improve the view from our home and expand the forest on our hillside.
The no-wake cove allows for protected swimming while being moments away from the main channel in the pontoon boat that is included with the home - two new kayaks were added in 2010. Also, road access to the cove is ideal with a private road that is less than half mile off of Highway 74 allowing you to avoid the many twists and turns required to reach some areas of Lake Lure - and only 5 minutes from the new full scale Ingles grocery store.
The structure of this home has been designed to make the most of this ideal location. It has the feel of a mountain home with its peaked roof and cedar exterior. It is surrounded by century old trees proving shade, privacy, and the feeling of being in a mountain retreat. Situated at the top of the hill overlooking the lake allows for easy access when unloading or loading the car while making the most of the amazing views.
You enter the main room to vaulted ceilings of rich wood that provide an open and airy feeling. There is a beautiful fieldstone fireplace which provides a cozy atmosphere in the summer and especially in the fall/winter while further adding to the mountain retreat atmosphere.
The center piece of the home is the two plus stories of windows that provide expansive views of the lake and the mountains. The open floorplan allows guests to sit and talk, work in the kitchen and eat dinner - all while taking in the spectacular views.
The main floor has a private bedroom with a queen bed and a full bathroom for those who want to limit climbing of stairs. The upstairs has a private bedroom with a queen bed and a private half bath. The bedroom connects to a loft which overlooks the main room and has full view of the floor to ceiling windows and fireplace. Sky lights also add to a feeling that you are living in the trees. The loft is semi-private and has a trundle bed (two twin beds).
The lower floor is a huge master suite which includes a sitting area and floor to ceiling sliding glass doors that also look out over the lake - the room is over 400 square feet! It has a king bed and one trundle bed (two twin beds) as well as a sitting area for enjoying the morning sunlight or lounging in the afternoon. The lower bedroom also has a full bath. If you choose for this to be a 'kids room,' it has a TV and plenty of room for games and etc. allowing parents to quietly enjoy the view upstairs (or watch something other than cartoons on TV). The downstairs opens out onto a covered deck with adirondack and rocking chairs for lounging in the shade. If you choose to use this room as an adult room, it is a great place to cool down and relax in private.
Not only does the inside of the house make the most of the location, so does the outside. There are two huge decks extending out to the lake. The upper deck extends off the main level and is perfect for barbecuing (there is a gas grill) and enjoying dinner outside. The lower deck extends off the master suite/kids room and is a perfect place to enjoy some shade and quietly read a book in the afternoon. Both provide an amazing view of the lake and the mountains.
In addition to the views from the house, you can take in the view while sitting on the dock or go for a swim in the protected no-wake cove. Sunset from the dock is something not to be missed! When you desire even more adventure, we have a 24 foot pontoon boat included with the rental of the house!
As the location and home provide a feeling of immediately being on vacation, we want our service to as well. Therefore, we have worked to provide every convenience necessary. Your first experience of this will be when our caretaker, Debbie, greets you at the door to give you a tour of the house and demonstrate how to use the boat.
You will then find a full kitchen with dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker and plenty of dishes and utensils for cooking and eating. For entertainment, there are two TVs, two DVD/VCR players and plenty of games for adults and kids. In addition, there is a washer and dryer in a large laundry room to help keep packing to a minimum.
When you are ready to head outside, you will find numerous chairs for lounging and tables for outdoor dining. If you are interested in the local area, we have provided brochures and ideas for things to do in the surrounding areas, lists of restaurants, stores and other information.
Finally, when you have enjoyed your day to the utmost, you will find fully made beds with down comforters ready for you to fall into and enjoy a peaceful nights sleep listening to the sounds of the lake and the forest.

Our family just returned from a stay at this home during the Easter weekend. First of all I would like to say that making the arrangements with the owner was very convenient. He was very helpful and responded to emails and calls. Also, as mentioned in the description of this property, Debbie (the caretaker) was waiting for us when we arrived. She took her time to show us the house and gave us great tips on areas that were close by that we should visit. Debbie even had some treats waiting for us. Thanks so much Debbie! My wife and I enjoyed the treats as much as our children. We are a family of 4 and the home was plenty big for us. This home sleeps at least 8-10 people based on sleeping arrangements. The view of the sunset on the top deck (living room area) was awesome. What a scene with the lake in front of you and the mountains as a backdrop while the sun drops behind them. The home is also in a great location to make short excursions to places such as Hendersonville. My son likes to fish. We didn’t even have to take the boat out to catch any. We caught bass while fishing right off of the pier. The water was clear and the fishing was good. One last thing. This home has so many amenities…about anything you can think of. So don’t pack too much. We look forward to our next trip to Lake Lure which will hopefully be in the summer or fall. We definitely hope that this home will be available. Thanks for sharing your home.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you - it is wonderful to hear that you enjoyed our home, Debbie, the lake, and the area so much. We hope the same for all of our guests.

Just returned from a lovely stay here. The home has some great features, and the owners have thought of many extras to make a stay enjoyable. Everything was very clean and comfortable. The views from the decks are incredible! The covered lower level deck was a great advantage since we had to deal with some rain while we were there. The downstairs bedroom is such a cozy retreat with THE MOST COMFORTABLE BED we've ever enjoyed! The location of the home is ideal being just minutes away from a great grocery store and a couple wonderful restaurants. The town of Lake Lure and Chimney Rock as well as Rumbling Bald Resort (where we enjoyed an incredibly picturesque round of golf) are a short drive away (less than 15 minutes). The boat and kayaks are a great addition, although weather got in our way a bit to really get "our money's worth". I will say that the steps down to the waterside deck and boathouse could be an obstacle for some. The owner was very, very upfront about this and made sure we were aware of the position of the home in relation to the water before we booked. While it was not a trek I wanted to make several times a day, I believe it was worth it to have the privacy of the home being up away from the waterfront. Overall, a great stay despite some poor weather! Lake Lure is gorgeous and this home is a perfect retreat in a perfect setting!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We booked a week then added 2 nights thanks to the owner working with us. We enjoyed everything at the rental, especially the boats, except for the 125 steps from the dock to the house. The ad says "you are steps away" to the dock. We are over 70 and I would not recommend this place for seniors or people with toddlers. The owner has been hard to reach since we paid. We have not received the refund of our deposit and it's been 3 weeks since we left.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers.
Owner response: We have had satisfied guests for 7 years and many positive reviews. Our family, as well as many guests, also come to the house with grandparents and toddlers and they all love it. It very important to us that guests enjoy their visit very much and we talk to all guests to let them know about the steps from the house to the dock - our pictures also indicate the situation. Unfortunately, this guest did not mention that conversation as well as misrepresents our website which states: "When you are ready to venture away from the house and enjoy the lake, you are steps away from paradise." We will delete this sentence to reduce any future confusion. In addition, security deposits are returned in 15 business days and this guest will receive their deposit in 16-17 days - I apologize for the 1-2 day delay.

Owner info

About the owner: We are excited to share our wonderful home, our pontoon 'Gertie' and our new boat house and deck on the water with our guests. We are big fans of sunsets and our home and dock have the premier sunset views on the lake.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Lure:
Location on the lake has the best sunsets across the water with the mountains in the background while also being in a peaceful cove. Beauty and tranquility with lots of family fun in the water. Plus no jet ski's are allowed on the lake providing smooth water and, more importantly, quiet
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house is 'in the trees' and the dock, boathouse and deck are on the water - all have incredible sunset views. Plus you can ride around the lake on 'Gertie'(our pontoon boat) as well as paddle around on our 2 new (in 2010) kayaks. Our caretaker will alo greet you at our home and take care of you throughout the week.
