Martin house description
**Lake is FULL right now**
Hartwell Hideaway is a perfect place to relax, play and getaway. Built in 2005, Hartwell Hideaway is a large, 5-bedroom lake home nestled on a 1 ½ acre wooded lot. It offers a tremendous amount of on-site activities and is located within the Appalachian Recreation area providing endless excursions.
For those interested in playing in the water we provide kayaks, paddle boards and fishing gear. One of our favorite activities is to float in the cove and towards the end of the day catch the sunset on the water. We recommend making that a margarita sunset – we furnish a Jimmy Buffett Margarita machine and our infamous “Jim-a-rita” house recipe. For those seeking a more relaxing onsite experience we encourage a nap in the hammocks, a long dip in the hot tub, or sun bathing and reading on the upper deck. Campfires on the beach or on the dock’s fire pit are priceless as well.
Food, music and drink are a big part of Hartwell Hideaway. We supply a fully stocked kitchen, a large grill and smoker for those wanting to get their “BBQ-on.” Happy hour is typically served at the Patio Bar with tiki torches and a game of Bimini Ring Toss. Evening activities include foosball, darts, Ms. Pacman (on the the Ms. Pacman Arcade table to include Galaga and more), board games or movies on the 56 inch HDTV. Yes, we have a huge, fluffy, reclining pit couch in the entertainment room to watch games and movies. Though don’t be afraid to just have conversation and quiet time on the upper deck with a nice fire in the chiminea. Flashlight tag is a favorite for the kids.
Offsite adventures are endless. Right out the back door you can start a day of boating, skiing, fishing, and site seeing. Within 15 minutes on the water you can be on the white beaches of Tugaloo State Park, a secluded island, or join in the fun at Party Island. Tugaloo State Park is a ten minute car drive and provides a mega boat ramp, tennis courts, nature trails, evening nature shows, mini golf, and other facilities. You can tie your boat at Hartwell Hideaway’s dock, or if you need a boat or jet ski rentals can be arranged at nearby Harbor Light Marina. Within 30 – 40 minutes you can be shopping, antiquing, golfing, hiking next to waterfalls, horseback riding or taking a tube or canoe down multiple rivers.
Hartwell Hideaway is a 2,400 sq ft, multi-level house designed for entertaining and spreading out large groups. It has one king-bed room, two queen-bed rooms, one room with two twin beds, and one room with a twin bed and a bunk bed. All king and queen beds have down-alternative comforters with duvet covers and all duvets/comforters are washed and changed after every stay.
Hartwell Hideaway is about 90-minutes from Atlanta; 45-minutes from Andersen, Clemson, Athens, or Helen; and 15-mintues from Toccoa or Lavonia.

We stayed here for my Grandma's 86th Birthday party. This is a great house. It doesn't feel like a rental at all, but a friend's house. It is furnished with really nice furniture (not typical rental house furniture) and the bedding is great. The downstairs had a huge sectional couch and a big TV. We enjoyed watching football on it! The arcade games down there were a huge hit with the kids. One of the coolest parts was the bar outside (downstairs). It's set up like a really bar and even has misters built in for hot weather. Truly one of the best rentals I've ever stayed in. Well stocked kitchen was helpful too. I forgot my crock pot but after looking through the cabinets I found one just like mine! I would recommend this house over and over again. The lake is pretty much gone so if you're looking for lake activities this isn't the place for you. Other than that, you really can't go wrong!

Wonderful Relaxing Home, Wonderful Hosts
Wonderful Relaxing Home, Wonderful Hosts
We had a wonderful time at your lake house. It was so peaceful and beautiful. The home has everything you could want. It is very well equipped and clean. Great entertainment centers and plenty of room for everyone to spread out and have a good time. It is really close to the state park and town of Lavonia. We enjoyed going out for quick day trips and returning back for R&R. Cassie and Dan are wonderful hosts! We loved every minute of our stay. I highly recommend it to others.

Beautiful Lake House!
Beautiful Lake House!
I've rented several lake houses on Lake Hartwell in this price range, and this is the best lake house that I've rented yet. The owners are very accommodating and responsive. The house is very clean, nicely furnished and decorated, and the kitchen is well stocked with cooking utensils. The path to the dock is quite steep, so we were appreciative to be able to use the golf cart! The water level was low at the dock as of the beginning of May, but Cassie gave me advance notice of this, and I imagine most lake houses in this area are affected similarly by the low water levels; I can see how the water usually comes up much further. All in all, we really enjoyed staying here for a girls' weekend, and I think that this house would also work well for a couples and/or family getaway. I would love to own a house like this on Lake Hartwell, but in the meantime, I'll keep on renting Hartwell Hideaway!

Family Vacation FUN!!!!!
Family Vacation FUN!!!!!
My sister and I rented this home for our two families to spend some time together. It was an AMAZING 5 days!!!! Worth every single penny we spent to rent the home. Home is clean and very well set up for families. Kitchen provides everything you could need to cook. They even put small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash in each shower. Hand soap was provided in each bathroom and the kitchen. There was a supply of dishwashing powder that was enough to do a couple loads. These are small things, but they make a big difference on things you need to pack/buy. The outside of the home was GREAT. With 9 kids ranging from 17 down to 10 months. There was plenty to keep everyone busy. From laying in the hammock to paddling the canoe and riding in the peddle boat, the kids were well entertained. The 16 & 17 yr olds were SUPER enthused with the paddle board and spent lots of time trying to master it. Communication with the owners was wonderful. They were quick to return emails and answer questions. My family and I will definitely keep this property on the list of ones to rent again!!!

My grown-up daughters and I spent the weekend here celebrating my birthday. The house has plenty of room for all and is very clean and comfortable. It is a short distance away from stores. I would recommend visiting the Stephens County Historical Museum and its Band of Brothers exhibit in Toccoa, Ga. Also, Toccoa Falls.

About the owner: We are busy professionals from Atlanta raising a beautiful young daughter and two pugs. Life is hectic, yet rich. We talked and dreamed about having a place to getaway and create memories for the family. We finally took the leap and invested in Hartwell Hideaway. Hartwell Hideaway is our respite. It provides a perfect place to relax, yet also provides endless activities and fun for us. There is never enough time there.
Why the Owner Chose Martin:
We prefer Lake Hartwell for several reasons. First, it sits on the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains providing beautiful scenery, a forest type environment, yet has plenty of white sandy beaches and islands to play. Second, it’s a quiet and safe lake, especially compared to others in the area. Third, it’s close to many of the North GA adventures such as white water rafting, tubing, zip lining, golfing, hiking, biking, horseback riding, sightseeing; and close to Helen, Anderson, Clemson, Hartwell, and the Carolinas. It is a total recreation area for everyone.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The options and activities are endless. We love the mornings sitting on the deck, sipping coffee, reading, chatting or just taking in the quiet. We love playing in the water, going boating, skiing, and we love cooking dinner with friends. Food, music and friends are big deals at Hartwell Hideaway. We love watching the dogs run and sleeping in the hammocks. Fishing on the dock also has provided some wonderful memories as well, as has campfires.
