Ideal Getaway Vacation for a couple. The cottage is clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The beach, as are almost all beaches on Eleuthera, is spectacular. We loved sitting down on the deck overlooking the ocean. It is convenient to Tippy's, the Levy Center (great Nature Center), and town. The first few days we got there, all we wanted to do was walk on the beach, sit on the deck, eat, and read. They have dish tv, which is almost too bad because I enjoyed being away from the noise of the world. Didn't turn it on until later in the week. The wi-fi was also not working, which also helped with the electronic rehab feeling. Found out I could live without it! I would have liked to have had a grill, and the directions could have been better, but other than that nothing but praise for this great vacation value.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Turtle Cottage was great for our honeymoon. It was secluded and quite. In fact, even though there were people staying at Shearwater (the main house next door-which is very close), we barely saw them. The beach nearby is phenomenal. We spent hours on the beach every day and saw 6 people the whole time we were there. You can walk forever. The snorkeling off the beach is decent, but the surf can be rough sometimes. There is good shore-based snorkeling elsewhere too (Ten Bay Beach, and beaches near Palmetto Point). The cottage is well-outfitted with pots, pans, appliances, blender, towels, sheets, spices, oil, and some consumables (LOTS of coffee filters) and some food. We left half a bottle of rum for whoever comes next. It is also extremely comfortable. The furniture is great and the layout is awesome. The owners recently brought 2 beach chairs and umbrellas to the island that really help on the beach. Eleuthera is truly phenomenal. We rented a car from Arthur (kind of pricey, but required) as Camilla suggested and saw pretty much the whole island. We would recommend the town of Current in the north and Rock Sound and beyond in the south. There are some (but not many) great places to eat in Rock Sound-including one at the end of a very long road past "Ocean Hole". We left more information in the guest book at Turtle. In GH, Tippys is not to be missed. We went there 4 times. Sure it is $$, but its worth every $. The fish fry in GH is also not to be missed. Its Friday night and is great food and entertainment. As with the rest of the island, bring cash. Finally, we has a massage on the deck at Turtle arranged through the manager of the Sky Club. The name, business card, and cell phone of the lady that came to the cottage is also in the guest book. You really cant beat a massage from someone that drives to your location with a table and all the supplies and gives you a massage on the deck or the beach. She is amazing! She said "Now that I know where Turtle is, I'll come out here whenever". Finally, if you are wondering where Turtle is, it is quite a bit past (about a mile + from Tippys) and other home rentals. "On the Rocks" was a close one to it. It is far back from the road (Banks Road) and even has its own little driveway that is separate from the main house. No houses nearby at all. If you are worried at all about the privacy, seclusion, or noise level at Turtle, don't. Cause it is perfect. Unless the sound of waves and rustling Palmettos is an issue.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My partner and I sadly just returned from Eleuthera and Turtle cottage 4 days ago. We could not have enjoyed the cottage more, or the area where it's located. We were seeking a very private place for our vacation and we definitely got it. There is a main house but it's not rented out to people and only used by the owner and her friends/family. If the main house were occupied privacy would be dramatically changed as the two houses are close together and the gazebo near the beach appears to be shared by the two houses. Luckily that was not an issue at all. The property is very large and completely surrounded by dense palm trees. It's high up enough that you get a great view and there is a constant breeze blowing off the Atlantic. The beach is a very short walk down a lovely sandy path and the view from the gazebo is amazing. Stargazing is great at the cottage too due to the lack of light anywhere. There are other cottages down the beach but I only saw one person the whole week, walking on the beach. The house is very comfortable, clean and well equipped. The bed is king size and VERY comfortable. Loved the shower as well. WIFI was not working but I alerted the owner and she said she'd have the caretaker look into it. There are a few places in GH where you can surf for free. Outside the café called "Da Perk" and from the parking lot of the bright pink government building close to the main grocery store, but as you are walking to Cupid's Key. Would definitely recommend this cottage and will most likely be back again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Cottage was perfect for 2 people. Great view of the ocean. Short sandy path and stairway down to the beach. House was clean and kitchen was well equipped. Caretaker is very nice - even brought us some fresh tomatoes. TV and wifi were not working but we do go there for that. Location was ideal - short distance to 2 good restaurants(Tippy's and Beach House) and 10 minute drive to Governor's Harbor. We would definitely recommend the turtle cottage to a friend or relative.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

Peace and tranquility, rest your brain and relax in a beautiful world of turqoise sea and pink sand. Turtle Cottage will not dissappoint. Time to unwind and reconnect in simple, tasteful surroundings. The cottage is well-equipped and maintained. You may wish to bring a small cooler for day trips, a puzzle or backgammon, cribbage board? We read, walked, swam, explored, snorkeled, and slept like babies.Stargazing at night, gazebo lounging by day. It was perfect! Thanks Camilla, we look forward to returning soon. Perfect for two! My wife and I recently stayed at Turtle Cottage, and we had a great week on the property. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a quiet time of private relaxation. Wi-Fi is around if you need it, we didn't have cable but that was fine with us. The pictures can't convey the quiet and privacy and solitude of the cottage. (This is the recurring theme!) The house is at the end of very long private driveway, on a ten acre property. There is a main house, but no one is in it, and you don't really know it's there anyway. There is a short path to the beach, and you pretty much have the entire stretch to yourself. We did see someone about a mile to the south one day. We were pretty sure they were fellow humans. The house was clean and very well suited to relaxing with a good book, and listening to music on the Ipod dock and hearing the ocean in the background. My wife is an excellent cook (even on vacation) and we did plenty while at the house The one thing we loved on this trip to Eleuthera was the close proximity of the house to several good resturants, stores, the bakery, and the airport. On an earlier trip to the island, we were further out, and it seemed to require much more driving. This location was perfect. We ate at Coccodimamas, Tippy's, the Beach House on Club Med beach, Pasquales in Rock Sound (just south of the SuperMarket) and all were excellent. Beach House was our favorite, as we kept going back. The bakery near Pineapple Fields was great as well. Lighthouse Beach is our favorite, and definitely worth the drive. The owner, Camilla, was most helpful, and quick to respond to our questions, and we would definitely recommend this house to family and friends and have already done so. Sherman (the property manager) brought a huge armload of tomatoes the day we arrived, and every one was put to good use. Thanks Sherman.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway.

Owner info
Why the Owner Chose North Palmetto Point:
A place on Eleuthera has been in the family since the 60's, so it has been a big part of my life, and very dear to my heart.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
Although right on the ocean, the cottage is completely private yet conveniently mid-way between Governor's Harbour and Palmetto Point Settlement. The Main House is nearby but still can't be seen, and there are no neighbors on the other sides. The beach is completely private, and the 360-degree views from the cottage are amazing. Morning coffee under the Gazebo, overlooking the beach and ocean is spellbinding. And sunsets on the cottage deck are even better. The rest of the world just falls away.
