About: My wife and I have lived in Colorado and New England over the last 30 years, but we have always loved Taos. We’ve had jobs in Denver and the Boston area working in challenging research positions and enjoy forward thinking people and informed conversation. We’ve also raised two world citizen kids, who now have spouses. Attracting them to our house in Taos for their precious vacations was a big priority in our choice of this house.
We find that time spent in nature is the source of balance in our lives. Though not extreme devotees in any one thing, we enjoy downhill skiing in the East and the West, cross country skiing and snow shoeing through local conservation land, fly fishing in small streams, hiking and biking where ever we can. Enjoying music, art and crafts are also key past times. Growing and seeking out local produce and fine cooking are other ways we enjoy spending our time . Northern New Mexico provides fabulous opportunities for all of these and more.
Why Taos: We selected this specific Taos home to have a place where we could gather comfortably for the holidays, with room and privacy for our kids and their partners, or for visiting friends. The layout is ideal with 3 separate bedroom/ bath areas with plenty of space for gathering together. The incredible beauty of the area, and the diversity of mountain and desert activities in this part of New Mexico attracted us and will attract our friends and family alike.
The Unique Benefits at this House: Another key asset of this property for us is that we can walk to most things we need – grocery stores, banks, restaurants, galleries, shops etc are all within an enjoyable stroll. We can park the car and not be driving around doing errands or making an excursion to get a bite to eat. And the casual opportunities for entertainment are surprisingly easy. You want to hear some music – the Adobe bar at the Taos Inn is a short walk away. There are a surprising number of concerts, film festivals and events on the Taos Plaza and in Kit Carson Park which are just steps away. Walk to the farmers market, see a classic car show, see the holiday lighting etc.
It is a half hour scenic drive to Taos Ski Valley, which this year has already had several great powder days to start the season. Getting outdoors for as strenuous an adventure as you like and then coming home and relaxing in the hot tub, or going out for some fabulous New Mexico food is our formula for relaxation and rejuvenation.
