Deerhead Cabin is a very charming property in the heart of Kings Beach, two blocks walk from Lake Tahoe. Designer-furnished in a mid-century modern theme, it is a time machine back to Tahoe's golden age, when Sinatra and Martin caroused the golf course across the street. And pet-friendly!
The comfortable rustic great room features a classic wood fireplace, comfortable seating, and an open floor plan to the dining area and kitchen. Despite the rustic charm, you can stay totally up-to-date with Wi-Fi, AppleStereo, AppleTV, and cable TV. Or, curl up in front of the fire with a good book or a game with friends while dinner is cooking. The dining table seats six between the kitchen and living area. And, the newly-remodeled kitchen features a gas range and everything you need to create a lovely vacation meal (no dishwasher). Plus, the best grocery store in North Lake Tahoe is right across the street!
Adjoining the great room are two queen bedrooms with plush bedding, and a full bath. One of the bedrooms has a computer monitor for your use.
On the other side of the home, there is a large bedroom with a big platform bed, and four sleeping mats suitable for two adults or more kids. There is also a washer/dryer and a full bath.
You can take the fun outside on the new back deck, which faces the large backyard and creek. Trails lead from here up into the woods beyond. Soak in the sun with your morning coffee, or gather with friends after your adventurous Tahoe day.
Kings Beach has great restaurants, shops, a movie theater, miniature golf, and a big beautiful sandy beach with watersports rentals and restrooms. Crystal Bay, Nevada's historic casinos, restaurants, and nightlife are just two miles east. Of course the wider area offers the best skiing in California, cross-country skiing, golf, rafting, hiking, biking, snowmobiling, and much more!

I rented this charming cabin with 5 friends recently, and we really enjoyed its myriad charms. It's an older home, perhaps circa 1940's or 50's, and has the expected knotty pine paneling throughout. But it also has a fabulous, newly updated sleek bathroom, Apple TV and 42" flatscreen, terrific contemporary kitchen (1/2 is modern, the other half is original....a really cool combination you can see in the rental site photos, but it's even more wonderful in person). We loved the wood-burning fireplace, and gathering pine cones to use as starters. This has to be the mosy completely stocked home I've ever rented.....the kitchen cupboards were chocked full of things like spices, olive oil, pasta, coffee filters.....almost anything and everything your own. The cookware was fabulous. There's even a large bathroom pantry with stuff your own bathroom might have. The third "bedroom" has a platform with several futons, a bit more suitable for children than adults, and the adjoining bathroom has not been updated, but it's very clean, charming and well-functioning. We all really appreciated the super-efficient and hi-tech heating system, as well. The location is NOT remote and private, but it's very near the beach and the near-by Safeway. The double windows do make a big difference in reducing street noise, however. The owners of this home clearly take pride in it's design and furnishings, and my friends and I felt at home immediately, so much so that we decided to cook all three dinners there rather than eat out.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Rating: 5/5 Great Views from Deck This is what I consider to be a very old, traditional Tahoe cabin. Some parts of it are run down, but overall, it is very clean, and the location and views are fabulous! The decor in the cabin is very old, but nice. It's what I expected in an old Tahoe cabin. Cons: Getting from car to deck would be challenging if you are older, or carrying a baby, luggage, groceries, skis, etc. Lack of proper stairs or path should be addressed by owners. Don't get me wrong- if you are young and healthy and your hands are empty it is not a problem to get from car to deck. Pros: Downstairs is cozy and clean. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker, coffee, linens, and spices. Downstairs bed is really comfy. There is a nice selection of DVD's. There are plenty of towels and extra blankets. Shampoo/conditioner, lotions, and soaps are provided. Washer/dryer with laundry soap provided is a huge plus! It is clear that the owners have made an effort to be hospitable. And again, the wide lake view is stunning!Recommended for: Pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

This cabin is modest and very comfortable. The deck had a beautiful view with peaks of the lake and the cabin's layout was very nice. Upstairs was very hot (we were here end of June) but cooled down quickly once the windows were open. The cabin was a short walk to the lake but it was a decent uphill climb on the way back (hence the nice view) so we opted to drive to the beach. It was definitely walkable, just not ideal with lots of beach gear. The cabin was on the older side, definitely a bit worn, but exactly what I expected and we were very happy. We used the BBQ both nights and enjoyed using the kitchen and the easy access to the deck. The neighborhood was quiet and felt very serene. We would definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.
