On a quiet lane just 3 blocks from Smathers Beach is a very special home we’ve named “Hidden Treasure' because it is literally hidden behind a sheltered front entrance with a five foot high louvered fence. Once you've opened the entry door, you'll have an immediate sense of having entered a very private enclave. With its stained wooden shutters and freshly painted stucco walls, this newly renovated home is pristine and perfect.
THE LIVING AREA...
The front door opens to a flood of light shining in from the living room and now you can relax, because you know you've made the right choice. The gourmet kitchen is to your right and no expense was spared to make this a chef's dream-come-true, with all stainless steel architect-series appliances, marble counter tops and custom cabinetry. The living room is flooded with light from the floor-to-ceiling windows and French doors. The 50 inch flat screen TV is great for nights when you just want to hang at home. There is an intimate library with a baby grand piano just around the corner.
THE POOL...
One thing that stands out about this home is the beautiful pool and pool area just a few steps from the living room. The pool itself is large by Key West standards: at 20 feet x 40 feet, it is large enough to swim laps. The pool is surrounded by a brick patio and enough seating for everyone, including a glider and outdoor dining for six.
THE ACCOMMODATIONS...
Two of the three bedrooms are on the main floor, each with a queen bed and its own bathroom. The master bedroom is upstairs, with a king bed, a covered balcony overlooking the pool and a private bathroom with a full tub and shower. All the bedrooms have flat screen TV's. This home is close to the beach, yet within a mile of Duval Street, so it is a nice compromise between the beach scene and the Old Town scene.

On our return trip to Hidden Treasure, five adults (and a dog) shared this home. Shel, the guest services manager, was there to welcome us and help us take things in. We were so happy to see his smiling face again. As soon as we stepped into the house we felt like we were coming home. Everything was just as great as we remembered. Outdoor space is so inviting and the pool was warm. What a way to spend your time when it's 26 degrees back home! The gorgeous upgraded kitchen was easy for several to work in and had everything we needed. The location is great for biking and walking in the quiet neighborhood. Easy walk to the beach and the dog park is just a few blocks away. It is such a pleasure interfacing with Shel. We had one issue with the pool that he resolved immediately. My family stayed at this home during the month of December. The home is exactly what it appears to be in the pictures, gorgeous! The home is in great shape and the fully fenced-in yard was perfect for our dog. My mother enjoyed being able to use a bedroom on the first floor and my sister, my husband and I enjoyed being able to bike all over the island. The home's location is great, not too far from the Duval area and close to the airport. We enjoyed hanging by the pool and walking in the quiet, safe surrounding neighborhood. The property manager was wonderful, he helped us with many things and even had a local guide prepared for our use! We had a wonderful time during our stay at Hidden Treasure @ Casa East! The house is very clean and well-maintained. The home layout and decor is comfortable and inviting. The pool and backyard area is incredible! Our 19 month-old loved the small ledge that runs half way around the pool. Hidden Treasure is a short distance (about 1.2 miles) from Duval Street and on the opposite end from Mallory Square (where you can view the amazing sunset). We needed car or taxi for most trips, due to hot June humidity, but taxis are inexpensive (about $10 or $4 per person if over 3 people) and easily accessible. Winn-Dixie about a mile away. Shel (property manager) is a real sweetheart. Very personable and friendly. We wanted to take him back to Denver with us! He was always available and ready with an answer when we needed him. If you look up "great customer service" in the dictionary...you should find Shel's photo there. Remember to check with Shel about which days the cruise ships dock in Mallory Square and try to avoid Duval Street on these days because of the chaos. Overall experience was amazing! If you want to get away, relax and enjoy the sun in your own private pool...we would highly recommend this oasis! It's impossible not to have a wonderful time here.Did you find this review helpful? We thoroughly enjoyed our Key West experience while staying in the beautiful premises of 1708 Laird. From the time we confirmed our reservation, we were not disappointed with our holiday experience. We received a gracious welcome from our guest manager Shel on arrival and we found all of the support staff very pleasant and accommodating. While we enjoyed dining at local establishments, like Benihana, Louis Backyard BBQ and A&B to name a few (recommended by Shel) we made use of the beautiful kitchen for some of our meals. My husband and I had the most wonderful, relaxing, and fun time during our month long stay at "Hidden Treasure." It certainly lived up to it's name, and was exactly what we expected. Perfectly private, clean, quiet, easy and casual living. Plus the pool was awesome, a great place to while away the hours. It was really a great location as it was close to the beach and a just quick bike ride away from all the attractions and action Key West has to offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our month here. The pool and outside space was even better than we imagined. The neighborhood was quiet and peaceful, close to Smather’s Beach, and a great area to enjoy leisurely bike rides. The house had everything we needed to provide for a comfortable stay. The space was tight for 3 couples, but we managed. We could not have asked for a better experience. Shel, the guest services manager, was very helpful with anything we needed. We could not have had a better experience than staying in this home from start to finish! If your looking for an awesome place to stay this is it! The pool is breath taking, and the home has everything you could possibly amagine inside. It's within walking distance to Smathers Beach and a short bike ride to Duval St! Discounts may be available for non-transient monthly rentals during certain times of the year. You retain the right to use, possession and enjoyment of the home during the entire period. In order to comply with City rental regulations the following also applies: Family and friends who stay at the house during the lease period must be named in the contract. No sub-leasing is permitted.
Last Key Realty requires a deposit of 50% of the rental total in order to hold the reservation, and the remaining balance is due 90 days prior to check in. Last Key Realty accepts payment via most major credit cards, as well as by check. Ask about our 1.5% discount for payment by check.
Additional Fees and Taxes:
12.5% tax & end-of-rental cleaning are additional. The first $100 of electric is included in monthly rentals. Rates over special events and holidays may be higher than the seasonal rate.
