What a lovely spot to stay on my first visit to Vancouver Island. Loved the location and the cottage was perfect in every way. Was greeted by Deborah and a bottle of wine, it was close to places I wanted to see and things I wanted to do, but quiet country spot. The cottage was beautifully maintained and Deborah was extremely helpful. My camera seems to have had a "Male" moment and hopefully I can recover the photos so I can share with family and friends, and have already recommended and forwarded the web page to a number of folks. Looking forward to a return visit in the future!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

We cannot say enough about the wonderful time we had staying at Deb and Dave's Woodruff Cottage in Victoria, B.C.! The cottage was perfect- it had all of the amenities and got a lot of natural light. We loved that there was not a TV and will have to visit in the colder months so we can use the fireplace :) Deb checked in on us a couple of times to make sure that we had everything we needed, but they were both very respectful of our privacy. The cottage is surrounded by lots of greenery and trees and is in a semi-secluded part of town, yet is still really close to places like Butchart Gardens, (MUST SEE) beaches, restaurants, and the Centre of the Universe. There were fresh flowers in the kitchen upon our arrival as well as a bottle of wine and they even made dinner of us our last night- freshly caught salmon and veggies from their garden! They were a pleasure to talk to and are a great resource for any questions you may have about the island! They helped make our honeymoon truly special and we can't wait to visit again!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Such a pleasure to have Chelsea and Dave! It is great to know that the younger folks enjoy the cottage, its setting and the many nearby events. There is so much to do at this beautiful time of the year....We hope to see them again.

I'll be finishing a three week stay at this beautiful little cottage today, and I am going to miss the natural beauty and quietude that it has offered me. The cottage surpassed all of my needs in terms of comfort, privacy and utility. Further, the yard is absolutely amazing. The naturalistic beauty of the large trees and diverse understorey are truly enchanting, and the sounds of the birds that inhabit the forest sing throughout the day, occasionally joined by their rooster cousins from distant farmsteads. The magic and simplicity of it can't help but make my inner farm-girl sigh with gratitude and relief. The hosts are both kindhearted and friendly people that did everything possible to make my stay comfortable. I appreciated their ready smiles, and offers to join in local events, but also applaud their observation of my privacy. I would recommend this property to anyone who wants to have easy access to all of the amenities of Victoria yet have a truly restful place to lay your head down each night. There is access to transit, if required, a short walk down the road, and all major centres are quickly accessible by car. There are also two wonderful restaurants found within this short stroll, featuring locally-sourced, delicious foods, friendly service and entertainment many evenings of the week.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It was delightful having Susie stay at the cottage.

We loved our time at Woodruff Cottage! We stayed as a break from major home renovations and didn't want to leave. Not only was it spacious and modern but the setting was very peaceful, especially with a duck pond right outside our own private deck! As spring is approaching we know the garden it is going to look extremely lush by summer. We were impressed with everything from the well equipped kitchen to the comfy queensize bed. The location was very central - it was less than a 10 minute drive to two Royal Oak Shopping Centres, the Saanich Commonwealth Recreation Centre, many nearby great restaurants, golf and two lakes closeby for hiking or summer swimming. The owners couldn't have been kinder, though they always allowed us our privacy as well. We plan on coming back for another getaway!Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Tricia and Jim were such lovely guests... it was a pleasure having them stay in the cottage... we'll look forward to next time!

We found this cottage to be extremely clean, tastefully appointed, comfortable, and quiet. And we loved the easy access to downtown Victoria without having to stay in the middle of the city. The hosts were easy to work with, and the surrounding garden and pond were lovely. We most definitely recommend a stay here, if you want to visit the Victoria area and have a peaceful place to call home.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

Deb and Dave were perfect hosts and helped us find places to visit that would only be known by the locals. The cottage was perfect and is Dave's pride. Just the two of us - but there was room for more - and we enjoyed the quiet evenings having a glass of wine as the birds swam the pond just off the edge of the spacious cottage deck. Don't be put off by being out of downtown. The time spent driving to downtown Victoria (usually a max of 15 mins) was saved in driving to the more interesting sites close to the cottage. We are going to visit again this year and try to stay two weeks this time.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Doug and Sharon were such fun to have...hopefully they will visit again in the summer!
