Beautiful Location & Great For Smaller Kids Who Can Swim!!
Beautiful Location & Great For Smaller Kids Who Can Swim!!
We had a great time! The weather was awesome, Burt Lake was gorgeous and the location of the home was quiet and totally enjoyable. However, we were sightly disappointed with the condition of the home. Aside from the newly renovated bathroom and the sunroom which were very nice, the rest of the house needs major updates and TLC. The rental indicated it had AC, it did not. The electrical is way outdated, so much that the bedroom with bunkbeds had a ceiling fixture that the switch on the wall did not work and it appeared someone had just unscrewed the light bulbs until they shut off - VERY dangerous. All of the furniture, lamps, etc were old and falling apart. Although the surface was clean, the house was NOT cleaned inside or outside ... there were cobwebs in every corner, dead insects along all of the base boards and the outside of the house needed a hose MAJOR! The landscaping was over grown and not tended to at all. The kitchen was stocked, but the cupboards were old, drawers were broken, the pantry closet wouldn't close, I think due to the water heater and really overall the house needs a lot of attention. If it wasn't for great weather, awesome location and the large nice sunroom, we would've been very disappointed - the last 3 days were very warm and without air it was tough - I have multiple sclerosis and I only picked houses with AC ... this house stated that it had AC! I don't want to sound like were are picking on the house, but if I was the owner and wasn't local to keep a finger on the pulse, I would want to know what my renters thought! I was impressed with the lawn care svc ... they went over the front twice and blew off the grass clippings so that they were not tracked into the house! There were a lot of hummingbirds, the swimming was awesome & the patio had great views! Thank you for letting us stay at your home & I hope my comments are taken with lots of passion -- the house has a ton of potential & I hope you keep working on making it better & better! One other thing, the house stated no dogs but your cleaners had one and we would've love to bring our dog Oreo :-(

Owner response: Thanks so much for your feedback, and we're glad that you enjoyed the week. We're so sorry the cottage was not up to our "crisp" housekeeping and maintenance standards that should always be in place. We definitely plan to follow-up with our service providers. Also, we apologize for the air conditioning mixup but don't believe A/C is mentioned in our listing. We have good news that additional upgrades, like the bathroom, are planned during the winter. We hope to have you visit again next year. Thanks again for staying at one of our favorites places!
My husband and I and our three small children had a wonderful time at this Burt Lake cottage. It was clean and the updated bathroom was very nice. I personally loved the "getting away from it all" feel that the cottage provided- but LOVED the fact that it has a washer/dryer and dishwasher! :-) The location of cottage was perfect for day trips to local favorites. We went to Harbor Springs, Petosky, Charlevoix, and Wilderness State Park. Fun, fun, fun!

We had a perfect vacation here! The views of Burt Lake are spectacular, the patio was a perfect place to sit and enjoy the sights and sounds, with fires in the evening. The house was clean, beds were comfortable, and it had all the amenities. What a wonderful, peaceful, and beautiful place to get away from home and relax. It was a great location on a private drive, and we were within 30 miles from area attractions; Mackinaw, Petoskey, Boyne, Cheboygan. I recommend this cottage looking to get away!!!

Nice Cotttage on the Lake
Nice Cotttage on the Lake
My husband and I just spent a lovely week at this serene property. The house is well equipped and ready to enjoy, including grill, lawn furniture, and floats for the lake. We particularly enjoyed the sunroom overlooking the lake as well as the great outdoor patio. The house is in a private setting surrounded by lovely trees complete with perennials blooming on the patio. Although the bedrooms are a bit small and some of the furnishings dated, the house has a nice cottage feel.We found the owners very responsive and a joy to work with. An added bonus are the walking paths in the forest reserve a block away. Great property for a couple or a small family. We had a great dinner at Lake Douglas Steakhous and many fun meals at Hoppies on Lake Burt. Pellston airport is 20 minutes away and the little town of Pellston has a nice small market and a great little shop that sells gourmet wine, cheese, and ready made foods that are great!
