Searching for a unique destination for a special weekend, vacation, wedding reception or business seminar? Treat yourself to a true 'vie de chateau' in this lovely early XVIIIth century estate located in the heart of the Perche region of France in the middle of a 350 acre property with ponds, rivers, waterfalls, century old trees and an old watermill. A barn equipped with reception rooms, bars and a spa-solarium completes this exceptional setting.
The Chateau is a short 1h 30 minute drive from Paris and 2km from the N12 motorway.
You have the choice between the self catering rental option best suited for weekends and vacations or the reception option designed for social gatherings and business seminars. In both cases, you'll have a unique experience in one of France's most picturesque region. The facilities are charming and have been completely renovated.
The parking lot can accommodate 40 cars and is adjacent to a pasture that in the summer can accommodate 50 additional vehicles. The parking lot and the Chateau can be lighted at night. A high-speed wireless Internet connection is available via Wimax throughout the property. The estate is located in the heart of the Perche Natural Park, an area that welcomes you in the midst of its forests, hills and wooded countryside.
A bit of history:
Alongside Miserai's woods, the medieval Château de Gannes was destroyed in 1428 by the British.
According to the legend, the surrounding swamps rendered the fortress impossible to invade. However, it owed its destruction to the duplicity of the châtelain's daughter who fell hopelessly in love with an English captain, betraying her own people. 'La Dame Blanche' lowered the drawbridge for the enemy to come in, the rest is history and the ruins are still here today. To our British guests, we say: 'Don't worry, we won't hold it against you!'
During World War II, Miserai was at the center of Normandy's resistance. Indeed, the son of the owner turned Miserai's woods where he was hiding from the Germans, into the heart of the local résistance. Many anecdotes and historical events happened on the estate.
