Primehook Beach house description

Come and relax at our home at Primehook Beach. Watch the dolphins in the open waters of the Delaware Bay from our second and third floors or the snow geese, grackles and gulls from our backyard that adjoins the Primehook National Wildlife Reserve with its acres of water. With three floors there is plenty of room for your family to spread out and relax. The top two floors were built in 2003 and the first floor has been remodeled. Our sunsets over the water are gorgeous.

We are across the street from the beach, a short walk. Enjoy bike rides in our private community or go for long walks along the quiet beach looking for shells and sea glass. You will quickly see why Primehook is such a gem. It reminds us of Nags Head, only much closer or Ocean City, MD how it was 60 years ago.

We have two bedrooms on the first floor. One with a king size bed, the other with a full. They share a bathroom with a tub and shower. There is bedroom with 2 single beds and a bathroom with a shower on the second floor. The third floor has the third bedroom with a queen size bed and its own half bathroom. This bedroom has a magnificent view of the water. At night you can lay in bed and see the ships with their lights on anchored in the Bay.

In nearby Milton, about 9 miles away, we have a Food Lion, a
Walgreens, a Subway, a Chinese carryout, a Domino's and one of our favorites, the Miltonian Restaurant with Greek/Italian and American cuisine. For more shopping we have Lewes and Rehobeth south on Route 1. There is the Boardwalk in Rehobeth and further south, in Ocean City as well as historic sites, theatres, amusement parks, the incomparable Henlopen State Park on the ocean in Rehobeth and all kinds of experiences awaiting you at the shore.

We look forward to hearing from you to plan your vacation at our house in Primehook Beach. It will be our pleasure to help you have a comfortable and enjoyable stay. Ask us to send you our rental agreement so you can book your rental while there is still time. By the way, no waiting for keys at our house, we have resort lock. Thank you, Ron and Anne.

Our beautiful home has three floors, very open and very spacious with 5 decks allowing wonderful views of the Delaware Bay (we have seen dolphins) and the Primehook National Wildlife Refuge in our backyard. Osprey, egrets, a birder's paradise, deer, rabbits, even a local skunk. Come relax and enjoy while only about 2 1/2 hour comfortable drive from Baltimore. We are about 27 miles S of Dover, DE. Beautiful! Honestly, the pictures and description of the house and location do not do it justice. From the moment we drove in on Prime Hook Road (the only road in and out!) and walked through the whole house we were in awe. The house itself is soothingly color coordinated and nicely decorated, clean, with very comfortable furnishings. My favorite room was the windowed back room with table and chairs. We spent hours looking out back at the Nature Preserve bird and sunset watching. Eagles, heron, ducks, sea gulls, and sand pipers were plentiful. Big bonus for us was the fenced in backyard and being able to bring our three mini schnauzers. They had a blast walking on the beach and Shore Drive. They yard was so nice, all three had gone belly up rolling on the cool grass in the morning. The house is big enough for two adults on the ground floor, and a teenager on the third floor. :) A special mention to the open floor plan on the second floor, which was a big enough space to have a catered wedding reception. The owners, Ron and Ann, were so helpful and accommodating. We had a special request to be married there, and they were all for it and so we were, in the back yard. We can't thank you enough for helping us have one of the happiest days of our lives. Our families that attended just loved the house and views. We contacted Ron and Ann a couple of times and they always got right back to us. We spent a few hours in Rehoboth, a couple of visits to Dogfish Head brewery, and hiked in the Prime Hook Nature Reserve. We knew there was more we could be seeing and doing, but the house, view, and daily beach walking kept us happy enough to stay put. Now we are both obsessed with Prime Hook and can't wait to visit again. I highly recommend this beautiful house for a visit.

We had a great family vacation to this wonderfully spacious house. It was great for three adult couples and two dogs to relax and not be on top of each other, but still be able to gather for family meals and together time. All of the outdoor/deck areas were great. No matter what time of day, you could find sun or shade and a breeze coming off of the water. Sunsets were spectacular to watch from the back decks. One of the great features of Primehook beach was the ability to take the dogs to the beach as well, although swimming at the beach was definitely for the brave because of the number of horse shoe crabs. When it was hot enough to go for a swim, it was not difficult to access Cape Henlopen State Park with about a twenty minute drive, and Rehoboth beach isn't much further for shopping/nights out. The house is also perfect for access to outdoor activities. Many mornings we would walk around the neighborhood and see bikers and joggers on the quiet roads with beautiful views. Also the beach was great for morning walks. The owners have an obvious pride in taking care of this home. It was clean and inviting. Also, Ron and Anne were easily accessible to answer any questions. The third floor bedroom is more loft style and over the main living area, so the early to bed couples may prefer the more quiet first level bedrooms. Overall, it was a great stay and we enjoyed our vacation time in this charming home.

We had never been to (or heard of) Primehook Beach before, but we really enjoyed our stay at Ron and Anne's house. Everything was as advertised, and the backyard is fully fenced (part with a low wire fence), which is great for dogs. The beach is wonderfully private and quiet. It is a horseshoe crab sanctuary, which makes swimming difficult but provides a fun activity flipping overturned crabs. The sunsets from the roof deck are wonderful. We highly recommend.

Our family is very scattered ( Texas, Oregon, Germany and local) and for the past four years we have made an effort to get together to keep everyone in touch.Though the Oregon contingent couldn't make it, my 90 year old mother joined us. In preparation for our trip we had many specific questions and queries as our daughter who was joining us from Germany and her fiance decided at the last minute that they would like to include a small family wedding on the beach! Ron and Anne went out their way to help us tremendously with everything even to organizing additional accommodation for the pastor and his family and one of her bridesmaids. Their help was invaluable! The house proved to be perfect for the occasion - the photos had given us a very accurate idea of the property and it was very well maintained and clean when we arrived. We all loved the fact that along with the lovely areas for family gathering such as the decks with the views of the wildlife refuge and the great room upstairs, there were many private areas where one could get away on your own or with a couple of others - I especially loved to be right up on the top of the roof at dawn -such peace and magnificent views! We didn't really do too much away from Primehook (some of us visited the Dogfish brewery)- just enjoyed the beach, the kiyaks, bike riding and being together as a family. It was a wonderfully refreshing time even though we had the wedding to organize which turned out to be pretty laid-back even to the time of the ceremony which we decided upon on the day! I would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives! Thank you Ron and Anne - we have many wonderful memories :)

Our 3 generation family (ranging from 90 year old to 17 year old twins) and a dog spent a wonderful Memorial Day weekend at Prime Hook Beach. It is a unique setting one block from Ocean in front and on the wetlands/nature preserve in the back. Very friendly and attentive owners, the layout of the clean home allows a flexible choice of places to "hang out", sunbathe, read, sleep, play games, interact or eat for guests, and everything was as advertised. Would definitely recommend.

My family and my sister's family spent a wonderful week here in the middle of August. The house is in a beautiful location backing up onto the Primehook National Wildlife Reserve and steps from the beach. Even when all eight of us overlapped for a couple of days we had plenty of space and lots to do. We spent time sunning on the beach - which was practically empty! - , went fishing, walked our dog, rode the bikes provided, and even took a day trip to Ocean City MD. We cooked our own meals almost every night as well as enormous breakfasts every morning while looking out at the birds and the bunnies in the backyard. And watching the sunset each evening was a special treat. Even on our one rainy day we found plenty to do from watching one of the dvds the owners provided to reading a good book from the house collection of novels. The property is as described on the website and the owners were extremely helpful and accommodating. A very special place!

My family came for the first time to Primehook Beach. We did not know what to expect even though we have been to the Delaware beach before. What a wonderful surprise! This house was wonderful! What a jewel on the beach. The house was clean, well decorated, location to the beach was great, and the owners have been a pleasure to work with. The loft bedroom was awesome, but the rooftop deck was the most wonderful place to see the most amazing stars and enjoy a fine glass of wine from the highest point around. This home has so much room, and the back deck allows you to view the Wildlife Refuge and the most gorgeous sunsets. We got the chance to have our Lab at the beach for the first time. He may take about a week to recover from the great time on the beach. The beach was very private and at times we were the only people on the beach. If you enjoy private beaches, a clean and beautiful home, friendly neighbors, beautiful sunsets, lots of wildlife, calm bay waters, go to this home on Primehook. Hope we come back again.

We had a great week at Ron's and Anne's home on Primehook Beach. Our cats, Unique and Tiger were comfortable. Ron and Anne were very responsive to my questions and concerns. Their home is beautiful, clean and spacious. Their listing was an accurate depiction of their home. The beach was private and very accessible. The neighbors were friendly. We visited the Jungle Jim waterpark, Shell We Golf- minigolf and 19 hole Golf park. We visited historic Lewes Beach and private Broadview Beach. We attempted to go fishing but we loved the relaxful mornings by the beach. We will definitely recommend their home to our friends. Thank you again.

We spent lots of time on what felt like a private beach with the kids and made some short travels to The Rehobeth Boardwalk, Cape Henelope, and the girls loved being so close to the outlets. The kids took a pirate tour from historic Lewes and we spent a day on the Rehobeth Beaches so my oldest son could ride the waves. The sunrises over the ocean were amazing and the sunsets where breathtaking over the Prime Hook Wildlife Reserve. The house was the perfect size for our family and we can't wait to take our family back again in years to come. Thanks for the hospitality and for being available if we had any issues/questions. Thanks for sharing your great home and the amazing community at Prime Hook Beach.

                  Year Purchased: 2011

About the owner: Anne and I grew up in Northern Virginia, married and moved to the Baltimore area. She is a Medical Technologist at a local hospital and I am in the investment business. We have two wonderful sons, Mike and Nick. They are both attending Towson University. We have 2 other members of our family and they are Ollie and Teddy, our very special Yorkshire Terriers. Anne teaches Yoga and Zumba while I like to work on old cars for fun. We hope you enjoy our home.

Why the Owner Chose Primehook Beach:
While we enjoyed family vacations in the Outer Banks for many years we prefer being much closer to home with many of the same benefits here in Primehook Beach. Away from the crowds and close to nature.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
Water views in the front and waterfront in the rear gives us the best of both worlds. Having three floors especially with the high ceilings in the second floor gives us a wonderful feeling of spaciousness. Five decks allow all kinds of perspectives that enhance the experience. Being in Primehook Beach gives you quiet and peacefulness. You can walk on the beach and, many times, be the only one there. At the same time you are only about 20 miles from Rehobeth Beach and tons of things to do. For us vacations are about relaxing and enjoying the simple things, walking on the beach, looking for shells, surf fishing, bird watching, bike rides, long lunches on the deck. Its all here.
