The property was exactly as described, with accurate photographs and other descriptive information. This Victorian-era home was well maintained and clean. The late winter resulted in us staying there when relatively little was taking place in Georgetown; many shops and restaurants were not open. Availability of numerous games, puzzles, magazines, etc. provided things to do in the home, which offset the shortage of in-town activities. Dishes, pots, pans, and a wide range of cooking basics made for a comfortable time of "hunkering down" for three generations of family members. The owner provided great information before our visit, and emailed when she learned the weather would be bad, asking to confirm our arrival. Nice personal touch! It would have been helpful to have some CDs/VCRs available (there were just a few for kids). Also, a snow shovel would have been handy!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with young children, girls getaway.

Thank you sooo much, Jen. Your home is the perfect place for a Family to gather and enjoy a variety of activities. Some went alpine skiing at Loveland and some went XC skiing on Guanella Pass. And we all came home to your fantastic house. We walked down to Troia's for dinner and that was also good.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you Cheryl! I'm so glad you chose to stay at the house, and that you all had a good time. I hope you'll come back some time. Jen

Jen, I just had to write and tell you what an awesome time we had at your house. Upon arrival, I found the house very clean and absolutely beautiful. The pictures on this site are great, but WOW ! the place is so much more beautiful in person. The gift basket and personalized message on the board made us feel at home right away. How sweet. It is such a peaceful place and the porch is made for relaxing. Some of my family ran up to one of the close by ski areas to do the alpine slide. They said they had a blast. I took that opportunity to poke around in town and do some hiking. Man, this truly is God's country. We used your well stocked kitchen to make our own pizzas. What fun ! We also ate at the Mexican restaurant in town. It was great find and really affordable. After that we walked over to "CAKE" Oh My Gosh ! Her cupcakes are absolutely the best I have ever had ! Everyone loved the deer. Our youngest would look out the windows often and scream, "DEER...DEER"! every time she saw one. You have a wonderful house and I thank you so much for opening it up to me and my family. I will definitely plan on staying at your place if we make it back to Georgetown.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Jen, first I want to say Thank You for opening your beautiful home up to ours!! House was fantastic. Fireplace was good and we used it almost every night we stayed. Home was certainly clean and tidy and stocked with most everything you would need. There was some food in the pantry and fridge, which we used some of and replenished and even added a couple other items. Plenty of room for the 2 families staying there for a total of 9 in the party. Deer came up to the house often and some came up to the back patio door and peered in...all the kids loved that...even the family with us that are from the UK had never seen a deer in the wild that close before. Area was nice and peaceful. The town is small and not too much in the way of amenities, but it had the essentials. Dining in town was good as well. Easy access to activities such as skiing, yet only 30 minutes to Denver should you want to do something there like we did one night. Thank you again!!! Would recommend to anyone looking for a place off the beaten path a little and want to enjoy some nature and peaceful times. The hustle and bustle of major resorts put me off and this was perfect!! The price was well worth it since we would have needed to rent 3 rooms in a hotel and that adds up really quick!! Very personal to say the least this way!! Jen - Hat off to you as well for honoring our military and providing a discount for us as I am still active in the service. This gesture, no matter how large or small, means the world to me and I prefer to support those that support us!! With much respect and gratitude, Tim & Christina Gorsline and Boys Jeff & Jan Wooding and Boys (From the UK)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your wonderful review! I am so happy that you and your guests enjoyed the house and the town. You would think I pay those deer, the way they entertain everyone, wouldn't you?? Thank you for taking such good care of the house too. I hope you will come and stay agian sometime. Also, thank you and your family for your service to our country. Jen

I want to thank Jen for going out of her way to let us have access to the house as early as possible. We were renewing our wedding vows and rented three homes in the area to accommodate family and friends. This was a lovely, quaint home and became the epicenter for everyone to gather on the porch and visit! It was so convenient, right off I-70 in Georgetown, Colorado. It was very spacious with large bedrooms. The guests loved the stained glass windows and antique fireplace. The Kitchen was modern and well appointed. We enjoyed the deer that would walk through the side yard.Downtown Georgetown and the Georgetown Loop Railroad were only minutes away. Once again, thank you Jen for being so helpful. We would definitely recommend your home to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway in a tranquil setting.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your kind review and for staying at my house. I love having wonderful guests stay--I think it just adds to the feeling of peace and love that already exists in the house. It makes me happy to think of all the fun times with family and friends that people like you have shared there.

THERE WERE NO WASHCLOTHES IN ANY BATHROOM.THE BEDS WERENT VACUUMED UNDER AND WE HAD COBWEBS AND SPIDERS. I DRIED AND FOLDED LAUNDRY THAT WAS WET. THE REFRIGERATOR WAS FULL OF EXPIRED FOOD. I HAD TO CLEAN SHELVES OFF TO MAKE ROOM FOR OUR FOOD. SOME OF THE FOOD EXPIRED IN 2010.Owner response: Dear Robyn, I am so sorry you had a bad experience at the house. I try very hard to make it a pleasant and welcoming place to stay. I am very disappointed to hear that I failed to provide that for you. Unfortunately, I used a new cleaning service that I had not used before, and was unable to get to the house in person before you checked in. I am very thankful for your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to provide it. I would not have known what aterrible job the new cleaner did without your input. Needless to say, I will not hire that service again. Again, I sincerely apologize for the condition of the house when you arrived. Jen

Wow! What a find. It was a slice of "God's Peaceable Kingdom" right off I-70 in Georgetown, Colorado. The victorian home was very spacious with large bedrooms, one of them large enough for 5 children in bunkbeds and their own DVD/TV. We, as parents/grandparents, had our own large well appointed bedrooms and bath facilities in separate quiet corners of the house. The hosts exceeded what we had expected, or have experienced in other places we've stayed. The home is like the picture describes, and on opening the door the antique fireplace and mantle was there before us, along with stain glass windows, antique cupboards. The kitchen is modern with granite counters and center island. Views out the front windows were of mountains, the old town, and the narrow gauge railroad across the valley. We were very close to ski areas, sightseeing trips, and walks to the old town of Georgetown, We will certainly try to stay in this wonderful home and setting again, if we can. A peaceable kingdom it was, right down to the 5 or 6 deer that would come into the yard daily to rest and enjoy the sun.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Orin, Wow, what a wonderful, generous review! Thank you so much. Guests like you make me feel so blessed. Please do come back again soon! Jen

This beautiful 100 year old house was just what the doctor ordered. The kiddos hiked, explored, sled, played, danced and built ginger bread houses (thanks Jen!!). We get away every year as an extended family and Georgetown was a beautiful fit for us this year. Thanks again so much for you hospitality Jen. The experience was awesome.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: David, Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. I have been so fortunate to have such wonderful people stay in this house. I hope to have you back again soon! Jen

The house is just perfect! Is a historic home with all modern amenities. Very complete with all imaginable inside! On the back yard and from the front porch, one can see the deer mules, we came during Christmas time and had a wonderful experience. We had a nice family dinner on the magnificent decorated dinning room... All home prepared on the well equipped kitchen. A pantry well stored with all type of foods. Highly recommend this property! And the owner (Jen) an excellent person and very helpful! Love it!!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Owner info

About the owner: My two boys and I have a very special place in our hearts for this house. We love to ski and snowshoe here in the winter and hike and bike in the summer. Georgetown makes us feel like we have stepped into a much simpler world. Time moves slower and families spend more time just enjoying time together. I am a single mom and an active duty Army officer. I spent 2010 in Afghanistan and when I got home last spring, one of the first places I wanted to go was to this house. It is a very special place, and I hope you and your family and friends will enjoy it as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Georgetown:
I grew up coming to Georgetown. My family friends owned a house here, and still do. I have decades of fond memories of this wonderful town.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love being so close to the creek, the Loop railroad, amazing skiing, and the beautiful, historic town of Georgetown and it's wonderful people. You really just have to stay here to see what I mean!
