Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1942

My parents bought this property during WWII, loving the area for many years before. Our family has vacationed here for over 50 summers, entertaining friends and other family members. Our waterfront property is perfect for daily swims and boating activities and occasional fishing. We have always enjoyed our meals on the porch. Each day ended with a view of the sunset from our dock. Now we want to share this beautiful home and these mountains with you.

Why the Owner Chose Rangeley

Nestled on beautiful Rangeley Lake, our home is unique because of its extensive lake front and its special layout—both make it perfect for your family or multi-generational sharing. Grandparents (like me), my adult children, and their children all cook and eat and play together during the day, but at days end we have our own separate cabins for sleeping. Even with a full house, we have our privacy. There have been summers where my son’s family as well as their friends with their children and I have all enjoyed a vacation here together and our home has hosted many family reunions. Our area is protected from development by a land trust, which has given us walking paths to explore just beyond our doorstep. Many activities for old and young are available —all you might need is a walking stick or a paddling arm!

The Unique Benefits of this Cabin

We still love our lakeside paradise of over 60 years. The area is beautiful and peaceful. Fortunately, little has changed here since I was a girl. Our house allows us to partake in all of the outdoor activities we love: swimming, boating, tennis, golf, hiking. And, of course, just relaxing on the porch or in the hammock with a good book. Our camp has been our perfect Shangri-La with the added touch of the attractive town, Rangeley only a few miles away. My father first came to the area in the summer of 1919 as a companion for boy suffering from hay fever. Rangeley was the perfect antidote. The grandchildren of that family still come from California every summer. Many of our other neighbors are the children and grandchildren of families who have been summering here for generations. My father found his paradise here as a young man and several years later when my parents had an opportunity to buy a home on the lake they jumped at it. My sisters and I think they made the right decision.

The Delaware Duo

My friends and we have spent a week for several summers at this great place. We enjoyed the seclusion and privacy. The cabins are rustic, interesting, and closer to the water than can be built these days. The water front dock is excellent, and there are PLENTY of toys to play with. We walk the old "Loop Road" daily, and enjoy the full moon rising over the Eastern mountains when or week is timed right. Fabulous!!

Great extended family vacation spot

Date of Stay: 06/23/07 Review Submitted: 01/09/12

The house and cabins are on a lovely private location, a very peaceful, private and beautiful spot. It's "On Golden Pond" for larger families. We''ve rented this cottage compound several times and had a wonderful time with our four grown children, wives, girlfriends, and friends. The swimming dock, motorboat, kyack, and canoe make it especially enjoyable. The house and cabins are old-Maine-camp rustic -- very clean and well-equipped -- but not up to new-home luxury lake house standards if that's what you are looking for. As for us, we wouldn't trade this place for any house on the lake!

Owner response:Yes the review is fine.Ann Loeb
