  12 lADIES TRAVELED FROM 4 STATES FOR A REUNION OF MOTHERS, SISTERS, DAUGHTERS, GRAND DAUGHTERS, NEICES, ETC. TO THIS FABULOUS HOME OUTSIDE SAN DIEGO. WHAT AN INCREDIBLE TIME WAS HAD BY ALL. WE COULD NOT HAVE ASKED FOR MORE FROM OUR OWNERS WHO WERE THERE FOR EVERY QUESTION AND HELP WE NEEDED. THE HOME WAS CLEAN, FURNISHED WONDERFULLY AND THE KITCHEN WAS SOOO WELL EQUIPPED. BEING A CHEF I COOKED MOST ALL DINNERS AND FOUND EVERYTHING I EVER NEEDED. QUITE COLD OUR FIRST FEW DAYS SO UNABLE TO USE THE BEAUTIFUL DECK AND POOL AREA UNTIL OUR LAST DAYS. SO CONVEINENT TO GROCERY STORE THAT ALBERTSONS KNEW US ALL BY FIRST NAMES WHEN WE STOPPED TO SAY GOODBYE. WOULD SO HIGHLY RECCOMMEND THIS HOME AS WE HAVE STAYED IN MANY VRBO AND THIS WAS OUR FAVORITE BY FAR. LYNDA AND FAMILY

  From the moment we saw the property on VRBO, we know this was exactly where we had to have our wedding. Deborah was extremely welcoming, kind, professional and so cooperative. She made this a very easy decision and a smooth process. Once we visited the property, we fell in love. Our families and guests couldn't stop talking about how beautiful, peaceful and perfect the location and house was. We had our intimate ceremony and reception here. It felt surreal and made our dream come true. If you're looking for a property filled with peace, serenity and amazing energy, I highly recommend Above the Clouds.   I want to thank you for having the vision to build such a beautiful, welcoming home. Your amazing home is a place meant for people to come together and share all the good in life, the weather, the warm breezes, the views, the music, and the water. These were the things we enjoyed the most, and your home was artistically and creatively built to embrace these simple pleasures. Although many in our group had travelled long distances and had never been to SD before, almost everyone stayed close to the “resort” and we just enjoyed each other’s company. That is truly a tribute to “Above the Clouds”. It is just what our family needed, after the loss of our matriarch. We came together, shared stories and memories, and treated ourselves in the surroundings. We have many musicians in the family, so the piano didn’t get much rest. You may have heard one of ours practicing his french horn Sunday morning while a cousin accompanied him on piano. I was glad we were high up on the hill, so as not to disturb the neighbors. And although the theatre room was very, very cool, I was happy that we didn’t spend any time down there (it was too nice out!) and instead chose to spend that time in the pool or in the (massive) kitchen hanging out together. The satellite music was great! Our family was honored and very grateful to stay at “Above the Clouds”.

  If sitting on a patio overlooking tranquil water as the sun comes up over the hillside and the coastal fog slips back out to sea, sipping your coffee, watching two deer wander nearby as a rabbit checks out the flowering hillside, and a large quail family scampers around the pool, with only the gentle sound of a windchime mixing in the pristine silence - sounds good to you - then you have found the right place. Our family enjoyed their 16th annual family reunion at Above the Clouds this August, and the home provided everything we had hoped. The Smith's list dozens of wonderful things to do nearby, but our family never wanted to leave, except for trips to the grocery store nearby. With plenty of room for meals together, whether inside or out, when the wall of glass doors was opened up from the kitchen, the patio generally got the vote. Everyone was especially pleased to have their own private space in the ample bedrooms. The pool and spa area was like having the grounds of a plush hotel exclusively for us. The theater was a big hit, especially when the popcorn bowls showed up during a selected movie. And no television in other common areas was something they weren't used to, but they quickly learned it was a plus and gave them plenty of places to read, play games, and just take a nap. Whether a large group or small, you would have to feel pampered, rested, and happy if you were fortunate enough to spend time - Above the Clouds.

  We had a family reunion and hosted a night of catered dinner, dancing and karaoke and had a wonderful time! There was plenty of space, we got some tower lights for the backyard, and everyone had a great night. The rest of the week was very relaxing utilizing the pool, the wonderful sound system, the workout room, etc. the owners were wonderful and the gift basket even included some socks and stuffed animals for our baby. This place made for a perfect vacation!

  Our family had the opportunity to stay a week at this wonderful home, and it surpassed all of our expectations! Deb (the owner), went above and beyond on showing us the amenities and explain things and greeting us with a bottle of champagne and goodies. The home was a perfect setting for our young family (2 small children) and the location was ideal. Grocery store minutes away as well as the beach. The home itself was clean and well kept and had all amenities that you would need to enjoy a pampered vacation! And the highlight for the kids was the amazing pool and waterfall!! We can’t wait to return!

  Let me first start of by saying that the owners could not have been any more helpful than they were, even going so far as to give us a HUGE welcome basket with food and goodies (including a cookie baking kit for the kids) for the week! The house itself is beautiful, sitting high on the side of a mountain overlooking the valley and ocean. The kids loved the full scale movie theater and although the weather was a bit cool, the kids used the slide and great pool. The location, just outside of Carlsbad, is superb. It was a short :25 minute drive to San Diego and only took us an hour to Disneyland. We all truly enjoyed being able to get away from the crowds once our days were done. We cant wait to come back to "above the clouds"!!

  We recently rented the Above the Clouds home for a short in town Executive Retreat, and we found the resort like setting ideal. First, the owners make the experience enjoyable from the initial email, and they truly want to make sure you get the most out of the property and stay. Second, the home is absolutely beautiful with all the amenities anyone could want or need. The movie room served as the perfect place to hold meetings with the projector that was connectable to a Laptop. The outdoor bbq area connects to the kitchen with large sliding glass doors, and the entertaining area is complete with the outdoor fireplace and serene infinity pool. We are very happy with our stay, and we look forward to future stays! Thank you again!

  I have been fortunate to experience several stays at "Above the Clouds", as the guest of the builder/owners...Deborah and Randall Smith. It is always a special opportunity. The beauty and remote serenity is hard to find in Southern California, while being so close to diverse attractions. I live in Laguna Beach, with a view of the islands, so it takes a lot to impress me. I feel as I’m at a 5 Star resort... with the peace of a private villa. There is nothing more impressive than the indoor/outdoor feeling of the lanai style kitchen/dining/deck/pool area. My girlfriend and I have enjoyed breakfast and dinner near the edge of the infinity pool and felt like we were in an eagles nest overlooking the valley floor. The architectural & garden lighting create a magical space in the evening looking out over the boulders, hard-scape and water features. When we have had guests over, we can’t resist the thrill of the water slide, then the conversation in the Jacuzzi. Being in the video business, I really appreciate the technology and plush design of the home theater. There is nothing more comfortable than watching a movie, or some of your own shots from the day's adventure, in the overstuffed recliners. Entertaining is such a breeze, since there is so much counter space and so many spots for live music or conversations in small groups. My 60th birthday celebration was spent here with family and friends. Even with one hundred guests, we never ran out of space… and we all spent an evening that friends are still talking about two years later!
