The adorable brownstone is a stone's throw from Manhattan with F & G train station, less than a half-block walk from your front door. The two-level flat affords more privacy than most rentals in NYC - I know, I've stayed in a dozen when traveling for business. The air quality is clean, temperature at a comfortable 70 degrees, and very quiet at night, when you need to restore after a busy day in the city. Appliances are new, including a washer and dryer, which can be important for longer stays. We were in the brownstone for 10 days and wanted for nothing, as the owner is on-site and readily available to answer questions and offer suggestions for dining and shopping for groceries in the immediate area. Loretta and her sweet family made the stay warm and inviting, so much so that I will be a repeat customer. My next stay is on the calendar! Thanks, Loretta and family, I look forward to sharing your home again soon.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, adventure seekers.

As a Carroll Gardens resident, I’m so thankful I found this place. It will be our go-to suggestion for visitors. We booked this place for my elderly parents and my sister’s family (husband, 2 kids-ages 6 and 3) who came out for a visit. There was plenty of room for all of them to stay and not feel like they were on top of one another. We found ourselves hanging out here because it was so open and spacious. Another family could’ve easily stayed as well (enough bed options for 8). As other reviewers stated, you can’t beat the location and convenience. Loretta was a wonderful host and easy to work with. IF I had one complaint (and that's a big IF), it would be that the outdoor space is at a bit of a standstill now that it's winter (lots of stuff about). However, I totally understand this and didn't mind because it’s too cold to hang around outside anyway. I’m excited to return in the summer as no doubt the outside will shine like the inside. (Don’t get me wrong, we still enjoyed the outside. There’s a pond in front and once my nephew discovered the fish and turtle, it was impossible to bring him indoors.) We look forward to many visitors staying here in the future and have already recommended the place to others in the neighborhood. Just returned from a week's stay at Carroll Gardens and would highly recommend it for a family. We are a family with two teenagers and an 11 yr old and the flat was a spacious, comfortable and quiet retreat after sightseeing in Manhattan. The flat is less than half a block from the subway (F), which was extremely convenient to all the major sights in Manhattan. Smith and Court Street are the local neighborhood and are full of fantastic eating and shopping. Highly recommend Smith Canteen and Seersucker and Lucali Pizza and Brooklyn Farmacy for sundays - just a short walk away. Making all the arrangements with the owner was very efficient and friendly, too!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, sightseeing, families with young children.

We feel really lucky that we happened upon this VRBO. We were looking for an apartment that could comfortably house four adults and two children. This place was more than adequate--and could easily accomodate more. Loretta is landscaping the front and backyards and they look gorgeous. The natural pool in the backyard was such a dream to find in Brooklyn, of all places! We loved coming back from sightseeing on a hot day to dip in the pool and cool off. The entire design is eco-friendly and very cute. The bedrooms were comfortably sized with clean linens and plenty of blankets and towels. Fully stocked kitchen. The downstairs living room was plenty of space for the kids to run around. And the location! Mere steps from the F line. And so close to delicious eateries such as Momofuku Milk Bar and pizzerias and Carroll Park, where the kids loved running through the fountains and playgrounds. Loretta and her family were gracious, laid-back hosts. It really makes a difference when the owners have kids themselves. Honestly, we chose this place for its affordability. But now, I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else when we go to NY.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway.

I'm not the best at writing reviews, so I'm going to bullet point the pros: -The apartment is huge, clean, quiet, and comfortable. And for perspective, I'm a neat freak and hate to hear traffic noise when I sleep! -The subway (F and the G) is right at the end of the block and it's about a 15 minute trip into NYC (incl subway wait time). -All of the best bars / restaurants in Carroll Gardens are within a 7 minute walk. -Sustainably decorated / designed Cons: -None for me!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
