Absolutely wonderful! My husband and I took our two young boys to D.C. for the weekend to participate in the White House Egg Roll. I have always had great experiences with VRBO and given the glowing reviews, we thought this rental would be a good fit. It exceeded our expectations. Frank was very prompt and attentive to emails. The home is in a lovely area, was perfectly clean and was well-stocked with all sorts of niceties. It was very easy to get around by foot & public transportation. To top it off, we left behind a couple items which Frank immediately returned along with our deposit. Hope to stay again soon and spend more time exploring this lovely area. Highly recommend!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

A sweet one-bedroom apartment that's a short walk to several fun areas with terrific restaurants and other amenities, including Metro stops. The apartment is well appointed, and the owner was responsive and very good to work with. It's garden level, but it gets good light through the living room windows. We recommend this place and would return.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.
Owner response: Jack and Brian were great guests who were exceptionally understanding when some unforeseen difficulties with the apartment arose during their stay. I'm very grateful for their patience!

My boyfriend and I stayed at this property the weekend after Valentine's Day. Frank was very gracious when we needed to change our dates at the last minute and made sure that everything was ready for us a day before we had planned to arrive. We arrived in DC very late at night and had no trouble finding the apartment or getting in. The place was very clean and well-maintained. The apartment was quite spacious - perfect for the two of us, but could easily have slept many more comfortably. The kitchen had everything we needed: coffee, dish ware, even creamer, condiments, and a few little snacks! The bathroom had plenty of clean towels and necessary toiletries. It was great to have laundry available on-site and the bedroom was quite large with a very comfortable bed. The neighborhood was very cute, quiet, and perfectly located with great restaurants and a Whole Foods nearby. The walk to the museums and monuments was fine, even in the blistering cold. And if we didn't want to walk, there were plenty of buses and the metro close by. Overall, we had a wonderful time! It was great to have a place all to ourselves, but also reassuring that if we needed anything, Frank was just a phone call away. We would definitely stay here on our next visit!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Stayed here for a week over the Presidential Inuaguration. Very clean and comfortable, great location, walking distance to pretty much everything. If you don't llike walking you can hop on the Metro Train at U St which is right around the corner. It was nice having a washer and dryer too, especially in the winter when half my suitcase was filled with a big jacket and cold weather clothes. Bonus: we bought some tickets to a Caps game on Stubhub, and Frank (the owner upstairs) printed them out for us and taped them to the front door. I would recommend this apartment to anyone I know.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We recently stayed here and had the best time. The apartment was clean and had everything you could possibly need, even little extras like a shopping cart if you want to go and buy food. The apartment was in a quiet street, which is nice when you want to sleep after a long day of sight seeing. But it was also near tons of great bars/restaurants on U street as well as the U street metro station. Would absolutely come back and stay here again especially since this was less expensive and better option than a hotel!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+.

This was our second time staying in the DC area and this vacation rental was definitely the way to go! We had no problems taking the Metro from the airport and walking to the apartment. It was just as described in the listing and in the photos, and Frank was great at quickly answering our questions. The neighborhood was safe and very walkable, with grocery stores and unique restaurants just a few blocks away. The umbrella in the closet was very handy the day we visited the Capitol. We tried to leave the apartment as tidy as we found it, and Frank returned our deposit in less than a week after our stay. We have been back home a little over a week and are already talking about a return trip!! We will gladly recommend this place to our friends!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

I think the apartment itself and the location was very good for 3 people. Apartment was clean and spacious and location was very good in terms of proximity to metro, restaurants and shops. We took the metro until we discovered how much closer and more pleasant the bus was to get to downtown close to the national mall. I definitely recommend that you explore that option first.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The apartment is so lovely and includes so many nice touches like essentials for the kitchen and bath, rolling shopping cart, etc. It even has a laundry machine! Fantastic wifi! And much needed central air - not window units. Frank is lovely and everything went smoothly and efficiently. The buses are so so easy from this location and you get to see so many things...forget the metro! I would highly recommend!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: I'm a classical musician who's lived in Washington DC for more than 12 years. It's a great city in so many ways, I'm glad I can share my basement apartment with visitors from around the world. I live in the main house above the apartment, so I'm easily available to assist guests with their visits in the national's capital.
Why the Owner Chose Dupont Circle:
I love my neighborhood with its historical townhouses and apartment buildings, restaurants, shops and nearby public transportation. Though in the heart of Washington, the apartment is in a residential neighborhood populated with a wide variety of residents, including young Congressional and White House staffers, young families, couples and singles from all over the world. (Few people in DC are actually from DC!) One of the coolest things about where I live is the giant Masonic House of the Temple, located right across the street from the apartment. The building was designed by John Russell Pope, architect of the Jefferson Memorial and the National Archives, and it's one of the most impressive buildings in Washington. It serves as the Southern Headquarters for the 33rd degree of Scottish Rite Masonry, and a tour of the building is fascinating and entertaining. If you're a Scott Brown fan, the building plays a pivotal part in his novel, 'The Lost Symbol.'
